What are DCL's strollers like?

Does anyone have a picture? Do the strollers have a visor/sunshade?

Considering putting the deposit down with guest services for a stroller to use on an excursion, but just wondering what the strollers are like. Trying to determine if I should bring my own.

Are the strollers different on different ships? We are sailing on the Wonder.

I can only speak to the stroller that we borrowed on the Fantasy in May of 2012. The strollers available were Peg Perego's
The stroller did have a visor, and I think it may have folded up but we never attempted that. It was bright red and did have a recline function. The first one we got was broken (stuck wheel) but they swiftly replaced it with one that worked just fine.

I didn't know they had strollers you could borrow. How does that work? Do you have to reserve it in advance? Is there a fee?

I was under the impression that they only had them for use at Castaway Cay, and then a limited amount.

That's not it. There have always been the large strollers available from GS on all the ships. You don't have to reserve them. They have a lot of them and even when we went to get one in the middle of the cruise for a port, they were available and we just turned it back in when we got onboard. One time DH had to get one for DS because both of the kids were sleeping and it was dinner time. DD was using our stroller and we put DS in the DCL one. They are now the Peg Peregos with a basket under the seat. You will need to put a $250 deposit down when you take one, but it is all credited back to you when you return it. They do fold up just like other strollers.

They are nice strollers (I forgot that they were Pegs, but that's correct), but they do run out sometimes so if you want one, make sure you go to guest services about it quickly the morning you want to use it - this happens most often on port days that sometimes there is a shortage.

I thought they did have canopies, but I don't have a picture and used our own and just knew people who used the on board ones, so I am not entirely sure.

On board, the strollers are Peg Perego GT3's. On CC, they are Baby Joggers

It is a deposit until you return the stroller. You won't pay anything to use the stroller as long as you return it to GS. We never had a problem getting a stroller during the cruise. We went to GS in the morning before getting off the ship in port, as well as around 5:15 before early seating.

I'm with Lisa. Even though they may be limited, I don't think a lot of people actually use this service and you can get one usually. Our friends only had an issue one morning prior to an excursion, but by the time they checked back prior to their meet, they were able to get one that morning.

I used a sling for most ports with my daughter when she was stroller sized at 14 months. So our stroller actually never came out of the cabin closet during the 7 day cruise.

I thought we'd use it for naps around the ship and at dinner, but we ended up just going to the cabin for naps and dinner she was happy to sit in a high chair and hang out with everyone or try walking around the table... which is a whole other post about toddlers learning to walk on a cruise!

Even on CC, we didn't really need a stroller either, we carried her to the tram, then carried her the short way to a spot on the beach from the tram station.
