Hi everyone,

We are staying at port orleans in 4 rooms using my dads military discount in August 2014. Using the discount, we can't buy tickets through disney. We were going to run over to shades of green to get our tickets(12people). We have left a few messages but have not gotten a response yet. Can this be done or is heir a lomit

One military member can purchase up to 6 tickets. That's the limit, so hopefully you have 2 members in your group?

Also, the two military members cannot be spouses. That is, the sponsor and/or spouse can get a total of six tickets, not six tickets each. We have done this a couple of times--both staying off property and at Pop Century. It's a great deal to combine hotel discount with ticket discount!!:). We will be using them both in Sept at Pop and in Dec at Ft Wilderness cabins.. We couldn't do it without the great offer from Disney!! Thanks!!

if you're talking about the stars and stripes length of stay tickets, you can go with your dad and buy those at Shades. There's no limit to the number of those type of tickets he/you can buy. It's the other Disney military discount tickets that have a limit of 6 and can only be bought by the military member.

the salute to heroes special is limited to 6 tickets

the regular discounted ones are a different story just keep in mind that there tends to be ONE guy on duty and the line gets very long. he knows what he is doing but it 's all the guests trying to buy that make it take forever to get through each customer

he;'d be much better off getting them ahead of time from his base's ITT or MWR office.

I completely agree with this. Just don't wait until the last minute if you get them on base. Our base never has them in stock and has to order them. They have always told us to allow two weeks for them to come in.

Thanks so much everyone. Yes I am just taking about the normal Stars and Stripes tickets.

So at shades there are three types of tickets
1. Salute tix
2. Regular MYW tix where you can add WPFM, hopping or no expiration
3. Stars and Stripes

Stars and Stripes are only for people actually staying AT SOG or a WDW resort. You get a set number of days plus WPFM, plus Hopping and you must use them within 1+ days of the number of days you buy (ie you buy an 8 day pass, they expire after 9 days)

They are cheaper than buying a MYW with park hopper and WPFM and if you plan wisely they work out great. BUT you have to stay at SOG/WDW to buy these. (you didn't mention if you were staying onsite)

If you want the regular MYW tix, they are cheaper at SOG and on base than at the gate. However, the best route is to use up your salute tix before moving to MYW for the folks you can't accomodate due to the number limit.

This is not exactly correct. My husband and I are both retired military, and we are each entitled to six Military Salute Tickets. Although we won't be buying them on our next trip (staying for 10 days, so won't work for us), we did so on our last trip. We had five people in our party, and we needed eight days worth of tickets. DH bought five and I bought five, so that everyone had enough days of tickets.

If she wants Stars & Stripes tickets, she can't get them ahead of time.
