Free dining March/April 2014?

What do you think the chances are of Disney offering free dining in March/April. If I remember correctly they did it a few years ago.
Does anyone remember if they did it last year leading up to Easter. I am trying to plan our next trip and torn between the end of March into April or the end of May.

We would go March/April if we can get free dining otherwise I would prefer May as we could get an extra day in with the Memorial Day holiday and it would be a little warmer. We usually go in August but this is an extended family trip and need to go when it is a bit cooler.

This year they did the Stay/Play/Dine discount and offered pins for FD. Pins are going out for next year for the same deal so I'd assume it would be the same. Can't see them giving a better offer to the public than pin codes.

I think SPD may have end on March 2 though. I believe only room discounts during those months were out.

In my notes for 2012 I have the following General Public dates written down for FD:
3/4-10 later changed to 3/3-8
3/25-31 later changed to 3/24-29
After that nothing until end of August so very limited dates in March, none in April.

This year there was no GP FD offer until September. Instead they offered Stay/Play/Dine and so far it looks like it'll be the same next year.

This is not something I would count on. In 2013 there was no general public free dining discount for any dates before September.

Stay/Play/Dine was a package discount that was offered in winter 2013. It was about the equivalent of getting the adult dining for the child price. A discount, but certainly not free dining.

Easter is April 20 so I'd say there may be some sort of discount in March/April but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for it being free dining. There might be a dining PIN code but you have to receive one of those to be able to use it.

How about late February? Any chance of a code being offered then? Thank you!

For free dining? Slim to none. No free dining was offered in 2013 to the public until September. A few free dining pins were out for February this year, but since pins for this time frame 2014 are already for SPD the chances of them offering FD to anyone is minimal.

Hi
Excuse my ignorance but what exactly are Pins and his do they work.

Pins are discounts that are designated to a specific person. For example, Disney has already sent a wave of pin codes to people for the beginning of next year with the SPD discount. Only those receiving the pin can use them. If you are in Disney's system you have the ability to be sent a pin.

Thanks so much! That makes up my mind as to onsite or offsite for this quick get away trip!!

I know a coworker got a FD pin for that timeframe in 2012 but based on historical data I've looked at (because we are going in April next year), there typically is not FD during that timeframe.

The stay/play/dine Pin I got and used had the following valid dates:
1/5-3/2/14 and 3/16-4/12/14

I had to use it before 7/28/13 as well.

I had free dining for my Easter trip in 2012. Room only discount for my 2013 Easter trip and for my 2014 Easter trip I have tickets and dining at kids price! Since I have 2 adults and 2 disney adults and 1 child this pin helped alot!

Can anyone tell me if I'm staying at Pop Century with the S/P/D promo and I want to upgrade dining from QS to DDP do I have to pay the difference in CHILD prices or the difference up to the adult price- I.E the difference of $15 to $30 or difference of $15 to $105?...

You would pay the child price for the QSDP, but you would pay the DIFFERENCE between adult QSDP to the DDP. Children would still pay the difference in child prices.

I believe the difference between the QSDP and DDP for an adult is around $16. There is a price sticky at the top of the forum with exact costs.

Ok so if I wanted to get the deluxe dining plan as an adult I would pay appox $15 ( the child QS price) PLUS the difference bt the adult QS price and the deluxe dining cost- approx $64 for a total of about $80/day/ adult? Thanks in advance!!!

Thank you. Any advice on how to get pin codes? We have gone several years in a row, then not for a while. I have signed up on the Disney website and we have never received any offers. Is it better just to call and see if they have anything attached to our name?

I am certainly not an expert on this, but I will tell you my experience from a few years ago. We went in Sept 2010, and I had wanted to go again in 2011. I had played around with dates and different resorts on the Disney website, all while being logged into my account. It seemed the more I changed dates and resorts, the more emails I started getting from Disney and I was getting several pin codes. My thought was maybe they saw it as me debating on if I should book or not, and the pin was an extra incentive?

I didn't end up getting to go in 2011, so I never used the pins. But I am hoping to plan a trip for March 2014, and I am going to try this same thing again and hope for the best. :)

Good luck! :)
