Paying for resort room with gift cards

I'm not sure if this is a new policy or I was just misinformed, but in the past I've been told by more than one CM I could only use a maximum of 3 forms of payment over the phone to pay for my room-only reservation. So I could use 3 gift cards, or 2 gifts cards and 1 credit card. Today when I called to pay for my room I was told I could use as many gift cards, credit cards, etc., as I wanted to use. :confused3 So I just used all the gift cards I had left and paid our room in full. Maybe this is how it has always been, I don't know, but I thought I'd share my experience with CRO today. :upsidedow And I'm excited to have our room paid in full!! WOOHOOO!!! :cool1:

Our last 4 trips, packages, were paid for using only gift cards. For example, our last trip I booked over the phone and paid our deposit with ten $25 gift cards. One month later, I paid it off using twenty-five $100 and ten $200 gift cards. I was under the impression that's the way it's always been.

I haven't done a package in years so I couldn't say about that. But I know the CMs have told me I had a 3 payment option limit with room-only before. Now I'm wondering if maybe some of them have been giving me wrong information. I know in January I tried to use a bunch of gift cards leftover from Christmas time and they would only take 3. I ended up bringing them along and using them at check-in , which turned out to be a sllllooooowwww painful nightmare.

I paid out deposit using eight $100 gift cards with the remainder on CC just last weekend without any problem at all.

3 forms of payment are correct. The different forms of payment are credit card, gift card, etc. You can use as many different gift cards as you like...they are all considered one form of payment.

Ok, so maybe that is why the CMs were confused. I'm new to using gift cards for room payment, I just started using it as a way to spread out the payments about a year or so ago. I really like tucking them away from time to time and then discovering I have enough to cover the whole room. :) ::yes:: :thumbsup2

It really does seem to depend on the CM you get but I haven't had any problems using more than 3 over the phone.

We have always paid for our entire trip with multiple gift cards . We have been told in the past that they could only use 3 forms of payment per call . We always us the online payment center but I am paying for a 12 person trip with gift card.

This is a new concept to me and I love it ::yes::

So if I have a few gift cards (like the Disney gift cards you can purchase at Walgreens) I can use those to pay off my room only resort stay balance?

I have a Disney Visa rewards gift card, but I had never thought of the other more generic gift cards

Yep. We buy them from our kids' old school through their scrip program. We pay face value, the gift card is worth face value, and the school gets 2% cut.
