Which resorts are a must see to visit?

You know, like walking around, seeing the scenery, going to the gift shops?

We enjoy visiting all of the resorts, but our favorites for the surroundings and gift shops are the Poly (our favorite :goodvibes), WL, AKL, and CR (although the CR is for the gift shop only as the theme/decor does nothing for me).

Poly definitely. Tie it in with an trip to watch the electric water pageant followed by the MK fireworks from the beach, and get a Dole Whip from Captain Cooks...perfect evening!

Best resort to walk around: Boardwalk
Best resort to shop: CR and GF
Best resort to sit and relax: AKL (animal viewing areas)
Best resort for romance: Poly (stroll on beach, lay in a hammock)

Also the YC/BC is fun for a trip to Beaches and Cream :thumbsup2

AKL, GF, CR, WL, Poly, BW. Those are our favorites, but all the resorts are cool to visit!

The deluxe resorts are all worthwhile. Some folks enjoy boarding the monorail for the full tour of CR/Poly/GF and have a cocktail at each one. :earsboy:

Our favorites:
AKL (spectacular interior and the ability to see animals on the savannah)
Monorail Resorts (easy to visit)
WL (spectacular interior)
BW (best at night for watching the goings on)

Most definitely Animal Kingdom Lodge! The lobby in itself is a sight to see, viewing the animals is a treat, and the resort gift shop has many unique items that set it apart from other gift shops.

One thing to consider: If you're using Disney transportation, please keep in mind that there are few, if any, routes that run resort-to-resort. What this means is that
if you're wanting to go to WL, for instance, you'll need to transfer from a park. If you have a car, no problem. This is one reason why doing a circuit on the monorail is nice :earsboy:

We really enjoy the scenery at Poly, WL, and AKL. The atmospheres of GF and AKL are great as well because they are themes that we aren't accustomed to seeing.
If you like walking around during breaks from nightlife, I would recommend Boardwalk too- you can even hit 3 resorts there if you feel up for it!

Enjoy! We love exploring the resorts. Each one is like a separate holiday :)

While most of that statement is correct, there is a boat that runs from the Contemporary to the Wilderness Lodge. For one doing the monorail route to view the Poly/GF/CR it is well worth it for them to take that short boat ride over and take in the splendor of the WL lobby and the impressively decored grounds. :)

Have to agree. WL is also beautiful to walk around. The lobby is gorgeous and it's neat to see the geyser.

So, would it be easier to just drive to each resort?

That would be efficient, but we never have a car, so one afternoon we do the monorail resorts after spending the morning at MK. We will do BC/BW after spending the morning at HS before heading to Epcot. We've also done AK on a rainy day - spent the morning at a park and headed over there for lunch.

We usually always try to have breakfast at WL and dinner at the GF Cafe, then if we are in Epcot we finish the night by walking around the BC/BW area and stopping for ice cream at Beaches & Cream at the BC. Love to visit all the gift shops as well!

AKL has a unique gift shop, as well as Coronado. We like to ride the monorail and stop at all the resorts on the loop.
