I took all my DIS-igns from the awesome DIS-igners here and sent them to Vistaprint to make magnets out of them. I just got the shipping notification. I can't wait to see hwo they came out! I hope they are nice! I was goingto print them mysef at home, but decided to go this route. I'll let you know the results of my test when they arrive!

Awesome. Which ones did you get? Not DISigns, but from VistaPrint? Like Large, Medium, etc?

Where do I find these? I am platinum on DCL and I buy magnets from the places we go and on board the ship to decorate my door. Invariably- they get stolen and I get so bent out of shape! I marvel and wonder at all the fancy personalized staterooms doors and DREAM of being able to do that! I found magnets on ETSY for purchase and would love to be able to make my own like you have! Please help!!

I got the 8.5 x 11 car door magnets. I arranged my Dis-igns in Power Point and uploaded to Vista. Then I just cut around the designs like I would have if I had printed them at home. I still have a few more to cut out. When I get them done, I'll post a pic of my washer and drayer which is where I'm storing my magnets for right now!

8.5 x 11 are $10.
11 x 17 are $20

But not sure if they charge for shipping... Not a bad idea as I do believe these are much stronger than the Avery pack...

In any case, I do recommend 'customizing' them to prevent them from being stolen. That said, if you have magnets that disappear, it's probably kids moving them to different doors. I always write down on sharpie my last name in the back if it's not personalized.

NOTE: Shipping kills the deal... About $5-$6 for one magnet 14 day shipping...

I used a coupon code. and I put about 3-4 designs on a sheet.

Uploading your photo to Shutterfly and printing at Target is cheap - $2.89 for an 8x10 and super pretty and no shipping costs! We've done this at Costco and Sam's Club, but the ones printed at Target are the best quality.

Then, you do need to affix to magnets - we get the 1 ft x 2 ft magnet sheets at Michaels (with a coupon), peel off the backing and affix the photo. Then, we cut it to the shape we want.

Excellent quality & cheap & easy!!

I just bought a $50 gift card to VistaPrint from Living Social for $8. It's on sale for $10 and with the code JULY20, I was able to get 20% off...so $8. You can easily google this offer...It's available for the next 5 days. If someone wants my referral link, email me and I'd be glad to share :goodvibes

Yes, Yes....I'd love to have the link to order using the discount code.
Thanks!

Thanks for the idea OP and also to PP for suggesting Living Single deal! I wanted to do magnets but my printer here at home sucks. :)

We printed at Kinkos on glossy card stock and then attached them to magnetic paper. I think it is less than $1.50 per page at Kinkos, so it is very reasonable and the quality is excellent.

We then used these magnet sheets from Amazon. The magnet sheets are self adhesive and very strong.

My husband bought the magnetic door magnets for his business. They are really thin just FYI. The look good but just to give you an idea the material is thin enough you could fold them. Not like the thick stiff magnets you can buy for refrigerators. If you did multiple designs it would probably be pretty easy to cut with scissors.

Thanks so much for the idea! I have been having THE HARDEST time printing my DISigns from home on magnet paper (which is quite pricey) and was about to give up until I saw this thread. I used the Living Social for $50 in VistaPrint product for $10 and just ordered all of our magnets for our August cruise :cool1: They do get you on shipping costs, but still a good deal when I figure how much more ink I would have to buy for my home printer and the cost of more magnet paper (to replace all that I have screwed up) :confused3
