We are also booked on the New Years Eve cruise on the Magic leaving 12/30/2013, so this will be the second leg of a back to back cruise for us. Is anyone else doing that?

Mary

Me, DH DS9 DD4 will also be on this sailing. We are looking forward to checking out all the upgrades on the Magic. We were initially booked on the Dream but changed our ship to the Magic when we heard about the refurb! Looking forward to planning together.:woohoo:

Hi and welcome! We were originally booked on te Dream too, but for the 12/29 New Years Eve sailing. However, we have been on all the Disney ships except the Magic, so when we discovered the Magic saiing out of Miami at a lower price than we had on the Dream for the New Years cruise,we decided to change and do a B2B with the 12/30 and 1/2. I would love to have an upgrade for our 12/30 cruise, as we booked an inside cabin for that one, but we have a secret verandah for the Jan 2 cruise and we're very happy with that.

We didn't find out about the upgrades on the Magic until after we had already booked, so we were happy about that too. A bit mixed reaction, actually, since we haven't been on the Magic before and would like to have seen it before they changed it, but we have been on the Wonder several times, and having seen that one in its initial form, probably don't really need to see the original Magic :)

We are interested in seeing the upgrades, although we're a little ambivalent about that too. We both really liked the symmetry of the atrium staircases as opposed to the asymmetrical style in the Dream, so that's not on our list as an improvement. Also, havng seen Animator's Palate on both the Dream/Fantasy and the Wonder, we were more impressed with the Wonder's presentation than with that on the Dream/Fantasy. From what I understand though, the look and feel of the Magic's new Animator's Palate will not change, but they will add the Crush show at the end while keeping the original for the beginning. Maybe the best of both world on that one. I guess we'll see:)

As two adult females, my daughter and I would much prefer that we have the queen beds that can be split into two singles, but I guess to raise the beds higher off the floor, they have to eliminate the split bed option. That's not something we would have wished for either.

The changes in Beach Blanket and Parrot Cay are something we will enjoy. Parrot Cay is definitely not our favorite restaurant, so we are excited about those changes. We never eat outside at Beach Blanket either, so adding more inside space there is a plus for us. I am excited about the new slide, but my daughter won't go on it because of the "dunk." I think the other new one looks as cool as the aqua dunk, though, and I am actually excited about going on both of them.

Overall, there are some changes we are looking forward to and some we are not, but we are definitely looking forward to the cruises!! We won't be in the same cabin for both cruises, so I guess you could say it isn't really a true B2B, but we have never been on any kind of a B2B, so this will be a first for us and we are excited about it. The New Year's leg will go to Castaway and as you know, the Jan 2 leg will go to Key West. We are definitely looking forward to this trip!

Hi all! Although we have not booked yet, we are 99% sure that this will be leg one of a semi-B2B for us... we are currently planning to first enjoy this cruise, then drive up the coast, spend a night visiting family and then catching the Magic back in Pt Canaveral for our second leg of the trip!

For us this is the best of all worlds as it gives us plenty of time to explore the ship, make the obligatory family visit while in the Sunshine State (although we happen to love this branch of the family tree and will be working to convince them to join us!), and take advantage of the lower post-holiday airfare!

We are a family of five (but have known to bring extras on vacation... time will tell), Mom, Dad, Daughter turning 19 on cruise, Son 16 and Little Son 5!

If the group starts a FE, we would most definitely be interested!

Hi Everyone,

We have our eye on this cruise. Myself single mom of 3 DS's 18, 17 and 15.
This would be our 8th cruise with DCL. We've sailed twice on Wonder, twice on Magic, twice on Dream, and once on Fantasy.

We would like to see the reimagined Magic. Bummed there's no stop at Castaway Cay but that's probably why the price is lower than the Dream.

Not sure about driving to Miami. We are so used to Port Canaveral and Disney's beautiful terminal.

I would be up for FE if we book! :flower:

Everyone,
I am sorry go have to say this, but some issues have arisen that will make it impractical if not impossible for Christy and me to sail on this cruise. We are very disappointed, but we will be re-booking another cruise as soon as we determine when we will be able to go.

I know you will have a great cruise, and we are sorry we won't be able to enjoy it with you. Have a great time, and we'll be thinking about you.

I think this cruise will start to fill up in September, when summer is done and people are starting to put together their holiday plans. However without Castaway Cay on the itinerary, it will probably remain a low sailing. Having the departing port Miami is also an added pain. I've yet to start figuring out how to get there, how long to get there, where to park etc. The reimagined Magic is the big draw for us.

I'm surprised at the small list for this sailing... Maybe everyone is like me, waiting for the price to drop!
We booked the four night from Canaveral portion of our trip, and will hopefully book this half soon!

I'm surprised also as it is doable to miss a few days of school and add this cruise to your Christmas Vacation.

However, I believe there will be no *GT's because it's so close to the end of Christmas Vacation! I think this cruise will be an 'impulse buy' for alot of cruisers. That's why I changed my mind about waiting to see if there's an *GT offering and booked...Roll of the Dice, you may be right and I'll be crying tears of remorse. :sad1: We'll have to see.

Meanwhile I've been looking into dealing with this Miami Port issue. After facebooking with my last cruise meet people, I decided not to stay the night before (Jan 1st) in Orlando but drive the 4 hours to Miami and stay there.

I'm definately Hotwire-ing or Priceline-ing the hotel and have narrowed it down to Downtown Miami or Coral Gables/Coconut Grove. Those are the recommendations anyway. I haven't crossed off staying in Fort Lauderdale as the hotels are cheaper and the drive the morning of is doable.

We are doing both Universal and WDW before the cruise besides driving from Cape Cod to Orlando for the FIRST TIME  so I have alot to plan but all I can focus on is exploring the re-imagined Magic! :cloud9:

We are planning on staying in Ft Lauderdale the night before... We have plenty of Starwood points to burn!

:moped:

Ok, yeah, after looking at the Priceline-ing and Hotwire-ing wins and hotels on betterbidding dot com, I agree with you that Fort Lauderdale is a better choice over the highly overpriced Miami Hotels.

I have a Starwood card but no points to go along with it.

I'm thinking of a hotel close to the Fort Lauderdale Airport. I hope that's a good area. I will have to do some Trip Advisor reading.

However, it's time for me to concentrate on the 22 hour drive down and figure out how we are going to actually do this.

Hello all -

My family of 7 will be on this cruise, we are going on the Dec 30 to Jan 2 and this one will be our final leg of our b2b. Originally we were hoping to do 11 nights from Dec 23 to Jan 2, but it wasn't doable so we opted for NYE on the newly refurbished Magic. :dance3:

WELCOME!!! This is the first leg of our b2b... we are so excited to check out the "new" MAGIC!!!

So far a very quiet cruise thread!!! (Does this mean an empty cruise?)

New Years Eve on the Magic sounds great! Hope you have a great time. I guess we'll be in the Parks New Year's Eve. I haven't really thought about it. I keep debating whether to stay at a Disney Resort or not. The cost around Christmas boggles the mind. Even renting DVC is a nightmare.

We picked this cruise because of the lower pricing, frankly. 3 days on the Magic is worth driving to Miami for-4 hours there and back before we drive 22 hours home! Yuck!
