Magic May 31, 2014 A Magical Voyage Around the Mediterranean

Have a great weekend... we are headed to WDW today. Our oldest has a volleyball tournament at ESPN starting on Sunday-Weds.

Hello!
My family booked this trip the weekend after we returned from our Fantasy cruise in April. It's me, DH and DD, who will be 9 at the time of sailing. We are SO excited about this trip.
We live in the Atlanta suburbs. We have been on one Disney cruise (mentioned above) and DH and I have also been on the Oasis of the Seas.
We were originally planning to go to Aulani next summer. DH and I were watching Iron Man one Sunday and saw the scene where they fly over Monte Carlo, and that began our search on DCL's website about Med cruises. We booked that evening....Aulani will have to wait another year!
Looking so forward to this....will be joining the Facebook page as well!

Welcome Welcome Welcome!!! :yay:

Been looking at reports and pictures and so far I think we're not going to do anything major in Villefranche. I know how my husband is and if I plan this whole trip of GO GO GO ...he will be Cranky Cranky Cranky by the 2nd day. Villefranche looks like a cute little town that we can spend some time in and have a nice day.

At first I was looking at this like my first Disney trip where we packed in EVERYTHING and were tired and cranky by the end. I just want to enjoy myself and have a nice time without planning everything from sun up to sun down. Now Rome is another story...I do want a good plan that day, but I figure if I don't stress him out on the days leading up to Rome he can make it through Rome without getting too cranky.

welcome!!

we must live close to each other... I live North of Atlanta too!! :)

Hi, everyone. I booked this cruise on opening day, but just now looking to find the DIS meet thread. It will be me, DH, DS12, DS14. We've been on lots of Disney cruises, but this is our first time to Europe. I'm a bit intimidated and overwhelmed about the planning. I normally never do ship excursions, but just for sake of not being overwhelmed by planning was considering ship excursions for this trip. But then when I read their reviews, they don't sound so great. I'll be watching this thread for tips on what to do and tours. Also have to look into pre-cruise hotel with four people. I guess that can be a problem.

Relatively speaking, we are! I saw your comment on the FB page. We're in Paulding county, in the northeastern part where it butts up to Cobb. I work at Home Depot down in Smyrna. :)
Too funny that we live so close to each other yet will meet each other ~9000 miles away from here. It's a small world after all.
Hope your DD had a great tournament at ESPN at WDW. We are headed there in 71 days (but who's counting) for our annual week-long trip. Can't come soon enough. Working now to plan our long weekend in December - we did this last year and although it was GO GO GO and we were exhausted, we enjoyed it so much. It was DH's Christmas present to me. He knows he should be careful when he asks what I want, because he knows I am gonna answer that I would love a trip to see the Candlelight Processional.

Ok....everyone have a great night and weekend!!

Been trying to convince my mom to take a cruise this fall. If I do I'm going to see about rebooking this cruise so I can get the OBC from Disney. :thumbsup2

Has anyone else started looking at flights home?

We actually decided to take 2 days to get there. We are going to Dublin for a night then on to Barcelona. One thing we are having issues with is finding a hotel in Barcelona. We are Hilton people and prefer to stay at a Hilton property. Mom called Disney to see if they could help with booking and told us they could but we couldn't use points. No biggie, but I can tell you if you are a Hilton family like us, there are no rooms.
We are hoping (cross your fingers) we may get lucky and be able to catch a soccer game while in Barcelona after we disembark. Has anyone else booked flights or hotels in Barcelona yet?

My dh (Bruce) and myself (Gina) just booked this cruise this afternoon !:wizard:
It will be our 3rd time with Disney Magic in the Med and we're excited to explore these fabulous ports again ! My SIL , Cindy, will be with us. We'll book her cabin tomorrow. I'll be celebrating my 65th birthday, my favorite way.....
CRUISING !!!

We plan to spend 2 nights in Barcelona to get over jet lag and spend time on the Ramblas ! We have stayed twice at the Hotel 1898. Very nice, pool on rooftop w bar, and perfect location on the Ramblas ! It's $338/night on Trip Advisor. Highly recommend seeing Gaudi's Sagrada Familia; fountains at night; Montsurrat; walking the Ramblas & market. The HOHO buses go everywhere. Taxis are reasonable.

If anyone is interested in Cinque Terre ( La Spezia ) we were ther 2 years ago and loved our day there ! Very easy to do on your own !

I love doing the FE and would be interested if we keep the #'s below 20-25 :thumbsup2

Hello all,

Trying to talk DW, Amy, into ANOTHER Disney Cruise. Each year we do one Bucket List item. Last year was mine, riding a float in NOLA during Mardi Gras. This year was to be hers to the Kentucky Derby but her boss will be out of town that week/end so that's a no-go.

Europe is definitely on our list and DCL is always on mine :goodvibes

Hoping to make a decision here soon, maybe like next month. Glad to see this will be a very active one with DISers. This will be our 4th with the 3rd on the Magic. We were on the last one out of Galveston before they headed over to Europe for the upgrades. Always been part of the FE and love doing our doors to the 9s. Little weird not doing Castaway Cay.

Would love seeing the Vatican, hoping to see Mass. The rest for us is shopping and food.

Keep your fingers crossed but I think I will get her on this one :rolleyes1

Jim

Hope to see you guys on board and to have you in our FE group !:cheer2:
My dh ( a looooong time ago ) marched in the REX Parade with his band from the Citadel.
I read where the Pope speaks to the public on Weds, when we're there.

Pontchartrain this past season. Did the whole deal: Ball, Second Line (Galatoire’s), Balcony Party (Johnny Whites), Breakfast (Tipitina’s) Parade and After party (don't remember where that was).

Loved it.
