I am surprised there is not meet for this cruise yet so I will start one. Let me introduce us. We are Tracy, Jay, and DD Georgia (8), this will be our 4th cruise, but 1st Mediterranean. Our 3rd cruise is the EBTA jut before this cruise.

Can't wait to meet others on this cruise!

A very quiet thread indeed! Hoping it will get more active as we get closer and I will be looking for another family to share private excursions to cut costs.

Today my DS turned 7 if all goes according to plan he will celebrate turning 8 in Naples next year!

So far it is just those that are booked on the EBTA.

We maybe interested in sharing excursions. I have been checking out different ideas for each port.

La Spezia we are torn about going to Florence or visiting Cinque Terre.

In Rome we want to see ancient Rome, the Colliseum, the Palatine hill, Pantheon, as well as Trevi Fountain. I don't know about the Vatican, there is too much to see. We were in Rome a couple years ago and did a tour of the Sistine chapel first thing in the morning, there was maybe 20 people in it, it was perfect very quiet. After we toured the Vatican museum and came back to go through the Sistine Chapel on the way into St Peters. It was jammed FULL of people. I am not sure how eager I am to head there later in the day

In Naples our plan is to spend the morning in Pompeii and then visit the Archaeology Museum in Naples in the afternoon. Our daughter is fascinated with Pompeii so it is a must do day. I have found a few guides who do tours of both sites.

we just booked this cruise last week on our Alaskan adventure!!

We are super excited to do a Med cruise... this will be our 8th Disney cruise. first time crossing the ocean.

Hi there .. We are booked on this one too, it will be our 9th Disney Cruise and our 3rd with this itinerary!! Only coming over from the UK so a nice easy flight for us.

I can highly recommend Yourtourinitaly.com for visits from Civitevvechia and Naples. We had 42 people on a tour with them in Rome and they were amazing .. And recommended to us by some DVC staff we got speaking to at WDW. We had 7 luxury Mercedes mini vans, all air con'd and because they were small vehicles, we had no walking to do. With DCL, they use coaches which are not allowed in the city limits for Rome.
We're using them again this year for Naples and we have 4 of us travelling to Sorrento and Herculaneum for ¬380 total.

Herculaneum is much better preserved than Pompeii and much quieter apparently which is why we've chosen there over Pompeii.

We had planned to do WDW in May 2014, but with the refurb on the Magic happening after this years cruise, we thought it would be good to see the changes before we get married on the Magic in Sept 2014 (WBTA). We need to check out the new adult drinking area as this is where we will be tying the knot so to speak.

Thanks for the info bats. I agree about Herculaneum it is much better preserved and is less crowded. My Dh and I had an amazing tour there a few years ago. DD has her heart set on Pompeii so Pompeii it is. I tried to talk her into Herculaneum but it was a no go. I am surprised there are so few tours to Herculaneum.

Pretty sure that we will be booking this cruise, just working on figuring out the logistics of it all.

We just returned from the Wonder's first sailing of the season to Alaska, which was our 5th trip. So this will be our 6th cruise with Disney, although our first Med. So excited about this trip!

Hopefully this thread gets a little more chatty as more people book their trip.

Cordelia is my amazing wife! We are very excited about this cruise as we have never been across the pond before. Furthest we've been outside the US was the Bahamas and Canada.

My DS7 loves Magic Tree House series and they have one #13 Vacation Under the Volcano about Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii. They also have a fact tracker book (non-fiction) on the subject.

My DD8 loves those books too. She has the fact book about Pompeii, so she ready with the Pompeii information It also had a fair amount of information about ancient Rome. I don't know if she has read the #13 book or not.
