Hi there! We have ADR for our trip this month to Mickey's Backyard BBQ. We are pretty excited about it as the food sounds great, unlimited beer and wine, and we were able to get the time we wanted. But I haven't heard many people at all say anything about it...I'm beginning to wonder was this a bad choice? Anyone have any reviews/opinions good or bad?
Thanks a lot!!

We were never interested.... It's more if a hotdog buffet.... Open air theatre, you go up and serve yourself and then sit at lung picnic style tables ... In the humid Florida heat....

We pass, we really enjoy the Hoop Dee Do Revue more, it's right around the corner, served family style, indoors in heavy A/C conditions, American cuisine, and dinner show.... Plus it's the same all you can drink , pop, beer and wine.

Show is corny but funny, audience participation , cost a little more but is worth every penny...way better than the BBQ...

We went to the BBQ last year and enjoyed it. The food was good, standard BBQ fare, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads. there is a little show and then dancing with the characters. My DGD loved it. I don't think we would do it again cause it was a little pricy but thought it was well worth the one visit. Enjoy.

We loved MBYBBQ!!! Theres a Hoop-de-doo component ( stage show, jokes, country band) and tons of up close character interaction. Food was what it says....Backyard BBQ! And the food/ drink was great!! No complaints here!!

Welcome to the dis, Mandy.

I have not done it as yet, but will in the future. Sounds like a great evening for the kids. :thumbsup2

...we wouldn't do it again.

The food was edible but that's all I can say about it. The best part was the interaction with the characters. The stage show was just not our thing. We left soon after the guy came out that could lasso with his feet!

Our favorite part was our Chip and Dale interaction before the actual BBQ.

We did it once and won't do it again - it's worth doing once in our opinion. Food was okay, wine was mediocre, but the unlimited Mickey ice cream bars was AWESOME!!!! The entertainment was good too, my kids weren't really into it - we like Hoop-de-do better (food is very similar)

Enjoy!

We did it and had a good time. If you are traveling with children you will definitely like it. Food was fine. It is a BBQ. So there's not Filet but the food was OK in my book. Liked the unlimited beer and dessert!!! The entertainment was good and my son had fun dancing to the band and with the characters.

If you have young children who will enjoy particpating in the dancing, then it's probably fun to do. Once. Personally, I couldn't stand the heat.

We did it last September and it was ok. The kids enjoyed it but the food was average and it was pretty hot out there. When the characters come out, all the kids swarm them so it was hard for my shy 2 year old to get time with the characters. Still, it was worth doing once. Definitely not the best dining experience ever but it was ok.

We did it a few years ago and honestly Hoop de Doo and the Luau are both better in my opinion. It was cute, but the food was average and you're at the mercy of the weather.

NOTE1: Tables are long picnic tables of about 40 people per
table, so you sit with other families. No reserved seating, so
the "mad dash" for seats can be interesting. There is no front
row", just the end of the picnic tables. Folks start lining up
about 1-hr prior to the 5:30pm seating. Also, characters are
there for dancing and front interaction, and *usually* do not
go thru tables, so sometimes there is a long line trying to get
to the charcters. It should also be noted that the sides are
open to the weather. They put up some plastic wind diverters,
but it does get hot or cold. The "dancing" characters intract
well with kids in front of the stage, and younger kids love it..

NOTE2: Mickey BBQ was always about one-half the price of the
Hoop Dee Do Review. With the popularity of DDP, they jumped the
price to double, including 2-TS coupons. NO CHANGE IN MENUS,
NO CHANGE IN CHARACTERS. NO CHANGES AT ALL. Cost was
barely justified at lower prices, and not worth the current price.

Thanks a lot!!

We went late August and loved it and are doing it again next week Saturday!:cheer2: It was hot outside, but it was not uncomfortable in the pavilion, they had fans and we were not uncomfortable. We thought the food was very good, the ribs, chicken and cornbread especially! And the beer and wine was nice. Our son is shy and didnt want to get up and dance with the characters but he enjoyed watching all the entertainment.
