Royal High Tea on the Fantasy!

We just got off the Fantasy this morning! Beautiful ship and such a fun cruise minus the fact that my oldest got sick on Thursday and the other two were throwing up at 5am today. :(

When we met with our concierge host Alice on the first day, she told us that they were rolling out something brand new just this week that will be held only on the Fantasy. She said it was a Royal High Tea. She said it will normally be $270 but since they were doing a practice run, it was going to be free! Couldn't pass that up! I will give a more detailed report after I get home on Tuesday but it was cute and dd had a blast. They had a bunch of goodies for dd including a Cinderella doll, a Cinderella music box and a charm bracelet and necklace. In addition to the goodies and the tea and treats, Lady Chamomile and Chef Brûlée sing throughout the tea and Cinderella, Belle and Tiana stop by and bring charms with them for the girls to add to their bracelets and necklaces.

A more detail description along with pictures will come after I get home!

$270???? Wow.

Sounds like the Perfectly Princess Tea (name might not be right?!?!) at the Grand Floridian. They used to have a royal tea for the little girls & their moms with a doll and other goodies for about the same price. Not sure if they still do this...

Yes the pricing will be as follows.

$270 (actually it may be $269) for one adult and one child
$210 for an additional child
$69 for additional adult

I'm glad we got to do it for free because I personally don't think it's worth that price. I only have one dd but I feel sorry for those with more than one. That becomes a really hefty price! Boys are welcome too. Lady chamomile said they'd get swords and stuff but there were no boys at ours.

Wow...that is a steep price...considering the other High Tea for adults was only $10 or $15 pp. They recently did away with the High Tea because they wanted to make more slots available for brunch.

Where will they hold this new Royal Tea?

It was held at royal court. I think it was about 8 tables being used that surrounded the large round table in the center of the restaurant. Each table had about 2 little girls and their parents.

People whine about the "nickel and diming" on other cruise lines. We all know DCL doesn't do that. Instead, they $10 and $20 you...or in this case - $269!! :rotfl:

How did you hear about this? Was it just for concierge? We are on the Fantasy on July 6. I would LOVE to be able to do this with my 6 year old DD .

I did the Perfectly Princess Tea with my older DD when she was 4. (She's now almost 12.) Honestly, it's one of our best memories ever of WDW. We still have the doll and the accessories.

Our concierge told us about it. Later she told me they offered it to concierge and then to platinum and gold members since it was practice test if you will. Alice made it sound like it was just free this last week but our assistant server made it sound like they will have a couple more dry runs and maybe they will be free as well. I'm assuming once they start charging, they will advertise it in the navigator or make it available to book online. Ours was on castaway cay day at 1:30 but Alice days they were changing it to a different day this coming week.

I'm kinda sad to hear this actually. My DDs (both of them) are obsessed with princesses, the whole bit. One of our favorite things on the ship is to do as many photo ops as we can, along with the Princess/Alice tea on the classics, etc.

I kinda felt this way when they introduced the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique on the newer ships, but at some point Disney is gouging the clientele and kinda milking it for all it's worth.

I cruise for the cruise experience and to get away from the park atmosphere. With all the "add ons" and the competitiveness to get things scheduled a la carte....it's starting to feel more and more like the parks. :worried:

I think it sounds great. My daughters would love it and I would bring them to it once. Not something I would shell out for each cruise but for a one time splurge I would do it..not much different then the price for a couples massage at the spa!

I happen to love all the add ons that Disney has, and I totally miss their high tea, and I would of paid way more then they were charging if they would of kept it...

Too bad Im not booked on the Fantasy...maybe if it does well they will add to the other ships? :cool1:

Steep at $270? Definitely. But if they continue to include the 'goodies' for the kids, I really don't think the price is all that outrageous. A doll, a music box, a charm bracelet and a charm necklace, PLUS extra charms. Tea and refreshments for 2 people. Exclusive entertainment. Not too shabby in my opinion.

By comparison, Remy dinner for 2, NOT including wine is $150. If you want some wine with that dinner, add another $200 to the price tag. I'm not saying the food isn't out of this world, although it isn't to my taste. I'm just offering a price comparison.

I think this is neat! We did this for DD17 way back before the Perfect Princess Tea was permanent, back in it's temp days. I think it was 2003...wow..I am feeling old. LOL.. She still has the doll and bracelet!

I would love this. We loved tea with Alice. Fun and hilarious. My daughter is 10 though so the doll would not be a thrill for her anymore. Hopefully they would age scale the gift.

I hope this is being offered in November on our cruise! I will be first in line to sign my dd10 up. $270 may seem steep, but for my opinion I believe as a one time splurging it is worth the cost. The included goodies and I can say I daughter would be saying for years to come " do you remember the tea party on the Disney cruise." $270 for an unforgettable memory for a mother - daughter experience is a bargain.
