Last time in a deluxe as family of 5 + infant

We are a family of 6, but DD is still an infant. I am in the beginning planning stages of our August 2014 trip. We have stayed at BC the last 3 trips and have never had the urge to try another deluxe.

With that being said, this will be the last trip we can all fit in one room, before we have to go down to moderate, value, or buy into DVC.
I do not want to rent points, because from my understanding I cannot get trip insurance.

Our hearts are set on BC again, but the two problems I foresee are:
1. Aren't the rooms at other deluxes larger than BC? More space with 6 of us would be nice.
2. I am a little hesitant to spend our days at Stormalong Bay where we will be spread out all over (older kids at the slide, younger in zero entry area) and to me that's not relaxing when one parent has to be monitoring the kids in the slide and deep end the whole time. We are so in love with it though, I'm afraid we will be disappointed in my other choices: BWI, CR, Poly.

We are talking about a 10 night stay, so I was considering a split stay but I imagine it would be a hassle with 4 little ones.

And as for the trip when we are a family of 6 according to Disney, that will be a whole other thread!! We will sure miss our time at a deluxe resort...just not sure if we can afford DVC anytime soon

You can stay at BC in a one bedroom villa or 2 bedroom. They have kitchens.
I do not know how many they sleep though. You do not have to rent points for them either they become available 7 months out from date of travel. We are a family of 4 and stay at OKW in a 1 Bedroom that has plenty of space because it is close to 900 sq ft. The pools are quiet and fun for our children 5 and 3 yrs old. We have stayed there twice before and our third trip will be in September this year. We plan on going back in 2014 staying there again.

For 6 at BCV a two bedroom would be needed. DVC rules are that you can have 5 in a 1 bedroom or 4 plus an infant unless you stay at Kidani Village, BLT or OKW which sleep 5 plus 1 infant in a 1 bedroom.

We've stayed at the BC and while we loved the resort and had a great stay, our favorite is the Poly. The Poly rooms are quite a bit larger than at the BC and all rooms come with a daybed. We also love the tropical atmosphere, the pool as it backs up to the beach with a distant view of the castle while swimming, and the beach for watching the fireworks (with a short walk back to your room afterwards). I can't comment on BWI or CR as we've never stayed at either of those, but I don't think any of them would disappoint. Good luck.

We've stayed at the BC and while we loved the resort and had a great stay, our favorite is the Poly. The Poly rooms are quite a bit larger than at the BC and all rooms come with a daybed. I think it would still be cheaper all staying in one room one last year, then I can explore that option if I can't afford DVC.
As far as paying for a villa through Disney, the prices are just astronomical.
We love 'Ohana, and have enjoyed watching the fireworks from the beach, but DH and I looked at each other in disbelief when we saw the Poly pool compared to BC. But then again, the small size would be much more convenient. We usually bring one of our mothers along for an extra hand, but will not be doing so this time.

Once the infant is 3, they would not be able to stay in 1 regular room at Poly or any deluxe.

You are correct, however, the OP is asking for opinions on their next trip, at which time the youngest is still under 3. So 1 room at the Poly (or any other deluxe, except WL and AKL) would accommodate them as they are still within the occupancy limit of 5 + infant.

If by some chance you're a teacher, nurse, or government worker, you can get a great discount-- about the cost of a Disney moderate.

Oh, and if you can squeeze into a Deluxe room, try the Poly. We loved it, and the rooms are a bit bigger than the BC. The Volcano pool is zero entry, and you can see the whole pool from your chair. And the access to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot is great!

A standard room at the Beach Club, with no discount, is $375 a night in July 2013, for a total of $2625 for a week. (And that's without any sort of a discount.) To get the same rate for BCV, I would have to find someone willing to rent to me at $7.50 per point... and I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't trust that good a deal if I found it.

I know the villas offer a lot more room. But for my family of 5, there's no even semi-economical way to make it work.

You are comparing apples and oranges. With a 2 bedroom villa you have a full kitchen and laundry facilities as well as two bathrooms and two full bedrooms as well as a lounge that sleeps two. It compares more to having two standard rooms than 1. I fully understand that if you don't want the cooking or laundry facilities renting DVC points is not worth it for you but your economical comparison doesn't make sense. We save money with our DVC villa because we have breakfast and snacks and drinks in the room that we buy at Walmart and if we really needed to save more we would cook although we prefer not to.

With a family of 5 you could rent points for a 1 bedroom at Kidani or BLT which would be cheaper than the 2 bedroom at BCV

It seems there are two types of vacationer. There are hotel people and villa people. If you are a villa type person ie like the space and like to do some of your own catering renting DVC points make sense, if however you are more a hotel type person and like a room with housekeeping and to eat out then renting DVC points for other than a studio won't make sense but its not an economic decision it is a holiday type thing.

Not true at all. You can't get insurance through Disney, but there absolutely are companies that will insure a vacation home or timeshare rental. As a matter of fact, we had to file a claim for a DVC rental last fall, and our check was in hand a week later.

But some of the resorts sleep 5 in a 1br. Kidani and Bay Lake Tower sleep 5 in every 1br. Jambo has room for 5 in some 1br's. I've heard OKW, too, but I haven't been there since the rehab. They have the king size bed in the bedroom, a double pullout a single bed pullout in the living room. We are a family of 5 and we like to squeeze into a 1br when it's just the five of us. The kids like being all together and we like having a little seperation. But often we'll bring my mom so we'll do a 2br since we have six people and that's when we venture out to different resorts.
