Those going to the world the week of July 4th have to be "hard core". The heat, the crowds!! The true lovers of summer and WDW. The brave and hearty souls who dare to dive into the sea of humanity that is...oh 10am Magic Kingdom July 4th or 5th. Here's to you, with my resort mug raised (not the new fangled generic mug but the old school resort mug with the resort logo proudly emplazened upon it's side) filled with Barqs Root beer straight from the refillable mug station! May you find a mid day spot at the pool that is truly cool and refreshing where you seek the strength to return to a park for a second round. May you get to all your Priority seating arrangements and have good service. May all your fastpasses be completed without getting to the fastpass line just a few seconds late to make the window. When the sweat pours out and the kids are frustrated, when the lines are unbearable, your feet ache, when the yahoo from Timbucktoo breaks in line....remember....Walt loves you, and your fellow Disers love you. Trudge on my good friend... trudge on.

I'll be at the Poly, but not planning any park days this trip. We'll be enjoying the resorts and celebrating a birthday and trying to avoid the worst of the crowds. Looking forward to the fireworks every night from Poly too!

If it rains, I might hit a park on Friday . . . . .

Hahaha I love this! My BIL and his family are going this week and we have told him he is an idiot! They live 2.5 hours and could go at any time but go now :/. Oh well it's not me :)

Thanks! We actually just "planned" this last week. Staying offsite and will roll with the punches. We expect heat and humidity, we expect crowds.

But ya know what - we get a day off work (the 5th) and we're not going to be sitting around at home. I look at it as an adventure.

And with two people in their early 50s, if you don't live adventures, you aren't living.

Here ye, here ye! We are here now, staying through the 7th. Crowds aren't bad, but it is the calm before the storm, I know. Had our first run in with a line jumper last night, and the woman hung her head in shame after she turned around to see me, the only one that saw her antics. No words were said, the look was enough.:stir:

Good luck to all of you that are as foolish as I. Enjoy your 4th!

Best of luck to you all! Seasoned 4th of July vet here! The week prior and the week after are sweet spots, IMO. Stay any after the teens and you hit the dreaded "B" groups (I won't actually say it for fear of flaming!), but other than that, tons of fun!

Stay hydrated my friends!

Man I have been the week before and it was horrible too! I have found for summer when one can actually go due to the kids being out of school, Last week in July into the first week of August is a good bet. I realize that many people cannot get off anytime for vacation other than July 4th week.

lol - great toast - i'll use it when we get in on the 3rd - but we're also pooling it as we're visiting our daughter / sister who's an intern so it's not about the parks as much as enjoying the time w/family -

Wife and I booked last minute for a short Anniversary trip 6th - 9th. Since we already had plans for an October trip and an extended family trip next April, we bought APs for the first time ever. Can't wait!

You guys who are going, all I can say is good luck. My mother took us when we were in junior high school and you could not even move in the parks. So many people. I think we made it onto three rides in the entire day we were there. And i sill remember the dripping disgraceful heat like it was yesterday. My mother actually cried on the way home. She was a cashier at Publix at the time and had saved up for months to take us. They did not have forums like this for trip planning back then.

Well, at least she had the grace to be ashamed, most aren't.

:thumbsup2. Love it

At WDW now for our 2nd annual 4th of July trip. I usually stay in January with my husband and bring my daughter in July. It really isn't that bad as long as we use the crowd predictions for planning our daily park. ;)

:rotfl: Thanks OP - and I'll forgive your avatar (Go Gators!) in deference to your kind words! ;)

Actually, we go to WDW almost every year for the 4th, so we're not scared. Of course, we also hit a park at RD that morning for 2 hours and get out, never to return that day. That helps. :thumbsup2
