We will be going on our first cruise 8/4. Sooooooo excited!!! A have a couple of questions for this forum:
1) Do we need to bring our own lanyards for our key to the world card?
2) I know I read they give us a towel when we get to Castaway Cay. Are these like beach towels or bath towels? Just wondering if we should still bring our beach towels along.
3)Has anyone every traded Vinylmations on the cruise like they do in the parks? My kids enjoyed this the last time we visited WDW.
4) I know there are 3 restaurants in the rotation. So where do we eat on the 4th night?
5) We are not planning any formal excursions in Nassau, but do want to get off the ship and look around a little. Is the straw market close and safe to walk to? Are there any restaurants anyone recommends to eat lunch there?
6) At the self serve soda stations, are we allowed to use our own cups?
7) During the shows, are we allowed to bring in food and drinks?
Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

1) if you're first time on Disney then yes, you will have to bring your own or buy one in the shop if you want a lanyard. I kept mine in my pocket the whole time and it was perfectly fine

2) They're bigger than bath towels but not as big as a standard beach towel. I would rather just grab a couple than have to worry about packing one.

3) Not sure about this one. I'd imagine someone has done it tho :-)

4) Night 4 you will eat in the same restaurant you ate in the first night. Multiple night cruises you just cycle through them.

5) Everyone seems to like Señor Frogs.

6) You may use your own cup but have to fill it with the disposable ones at the station for sanitary reasons. Just fill the disposable up, dump it into your cup, repeat until full

7) We didn't bring food to the shows but I don't remember if it was "allowed" or not.

Hope this helps some (and someone else will fill in the gaps)

We will be going on our first cruise 8/4. Sooooooo excited!!! A have a couple of questions for this forum:
4) I know there are 3 restaurants in the rotation. So where do we eat on the 4th night? The dining rotation on the 4 night cruise is set up so that you dine in the same MDR on the 3rd and 4th nights.

7) During the shows, are we allowed to bring in food and drinks? In most cases, snack sort of food (candies, popcorn, soda) are allowed. I've read that if you try to bring in "meal" sort of food (pizza, burgers, fries) that's not been allowed.

Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

2) I know I read they give us a towel when we get to Castaway Cay. Are these like beach towels or bath towels? Just wondering if we should still bring our beach towels along. They aren't as large as most beach towels but I prefer to use them over packing my own. They work fine.
3)Has anyone every traded Vinylmations on the cruise like they do in the parks? My kids enjoyed this the last time we visited WDW. No idea
4) I know there are 3 restaurants in the rotation. So where do we eat on the 4th night? The first two nights will be the regular menu in the MDR, the 3rd night will be the pirate menu, then the 4th night you will go to the same MDR as on night 3 BUT if will be the regular menu. For example: your rotation could be AERR with the first night in Royal Palace being the pirate menu and the second night in RP being the regular menu.
5) We are not planning any formal excursions in Nassau, but do want to get off the ship and look around a little. Is the straw market close and safe to walk to? It's maybe a 10 minute walk. We walked there with our children last year. Are there any restaurants anyone recommends to eat lunch there? We eat on the ship.
6) At the self serve soda stations, are we allowed to use our own cups?Yes, but as PP stated, use the small cups to fill your own.
7) During the shows, are we allowed to bring in food and drinks? We did not so I'm not sure.

The straw market is an east walk. There are lots of shops along the way as well. We enjoyed window shopping. I love the straw market!! We had a drink or so at señor frogs but didn't eat there. It's a fun place with a Greta view of the water. There's also a Hard Rock Cafe. They have decent food. We actually went back to the ship to eat and then stayed at the pool.

We will be going on our first cruise 8/4. Sooooooo excited!!! A have a couple of questions for this forum:
1) Do we need to bring our own lanyards for our key to the world card? If you don't want to carry them around, then yes. Lanyards are given to individuals who have cruised prior to this cruise. so if you cruise again, you will get free ones.
2) I know I read they give us a towel when we get to Castaway Cay. Are these like beach towels or bath towels? Just wondering if we should still bring our beach towels along. They are not beach towels. They do sell beach towels in the gift shops. Makes a nice souvenir and you don't have to bring one from home.
3)Has anyone every traded Vinylmations on the cruise like they do in the parks? My kids enjoyed this the last time we visited WDW.Sorry, we aren't into Vinylmations so I have no idea about this one!
4) I know there are 3 restaurants in the rotation. So where do we eat on the 4th night? Usually your rotation repeats itself. So on a 7 day cruise, you will eat in two restaurants twice and the third resataurant three times.
5) We are not planning any formal excursions in Nassau, but do want to get off the ship and look around a little. Is the straw market close and safe to walk to? Are there any restaurants anyone recommends to eat lunch there?Sorry, but I wouldn't even recommend going to the Straw Market. On our cruise to Nassau, we thought it was the port we were the least safe in. Didn't enjoy the straw market-of course, this was back in the late 90's I think.
6) At the self serve soda stations, are we allowed to use our own cups? You can use your own cups, but you are supposed to use one of their cups to fill your cups due to hygiene/health reasons.
7) During the shows, are we allowed to bring in food and drinks?Yes, you can bring in drinks and snacks. You can either pack your own to bring on the cruise or purchase some on board.
Thanks in advance for all your help!!!
Enjoy your cruise!popcorn::

I never felt unsafe in Nassau, but be aware that the straw market is in a building (open on the sides) with no air conditioning. When we were there in June, it was too hot to stay inside. Don't buy the first thing you see and never accept their opening price. You will see many of the same goods over and over, but there are some slight differences.

Be aware that a lot of people will offer taxis and horse drawn carriage rides as you leave the shop area. We also walked around to the Graycliff hotel and saw some local businesses. We always stayed on major streets.

a few editorial comments ...

- Straw Market = Bahamas version of your local Flea Market . . . with the addition of the 'island way' of doing business which can be loud and in your face by US standards. negotiating a price is the norm ... never pay the first price offered.

- for the shows in the theater there is 'bar service at your seat' for drinks, and you are welcome to carry in. They sell typical movie theater stuff outside - candy and such but no fresh pop, just bagged. I agree they probably would stop you with pizza or a burger ... this is not one of those theater grill deals.

- Nassau is perfectly safe, during the day, so long as you stay in the main tourist area. You can shop and visit the Pirate Museum or take a buggy ride with NO worries. I do not recommend folks who are not familiar venture far from the main tourist area

- no need to bring beach towels .... they are readily available for use on CC
