Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Hi ladies....sorry I have been MIA too. My heart just hasn't been in it lately, not sure why.:confused3 But I am here now!

Miss: what a funny picture you painted! But it sounds like a real feast you were having! So sorry to hear about Miss M's rash and itchiness. It is so darn frustrating for them. I second the Aveeno.

Wookie: Look at you posting the map! Do we have our RC version of Robo over here???:thumbsup2

SueM: You sound like the split stay pro! I will be coming to you with questions if we ever do it!

The storms and rain have been bad here too. We got a torrential downpour this morning that woke all the DD's up and had them staring out the window. It was brief but did a number on the town's sports fields.:sad2: DH had to close a few fields tonight so some ball groups couldn't get on them. He is now dealing with multiple emails from disgruntled people ragging on the municipality for the weather. Poor guy, he is so stressed about his job right now, middle management. It is hard, but he does such a good job and I am trying my best to keep his spirits up.

DD4 has had a fever for 2 days now, trying to wean her off the ibuprofen. :guilty:Tomorrow is her last day of school, she needs to be there to say goodbye to everyone.

Waving hi to all....hope you are all well.

Jen
We have had nothing but rain for days, my DH isn't a happy camper with his golf and softball games all canceled
I hope DD is feeling better now.

So does anybody know what happens when you book a discounted package and then make changes later (after the discounted booking is over)? Say for instance I'd want to move the last couple of nights to a different hotel...would BOTH reservations have to be rebooked at rack rate? Or would my current resort still be discounted and the other changed resort would be rack rate as of now?
I've booked BBs and changed them months after. Matter of fact we changed our 2 days POFQ bb, to 1 day at Pop, arriving then added GF ( not on BB I got a better deal). Now thinking of cha cha changing Pop to AoA Mermaid room, or POR Royal room, thanks to Heathers great pics  ugh.

Good Morning All! :wave2:

A quick hello then I need to do a little catching up ;) Can't believe I slept until almost 7:30am :upsidedow Hubby woke me up when he was getting ready to leave for work. Not like me to sleep the day away

Just a little Disney cheer for my RC friends:goodvibes Missing the World really, really, really bad this morning. And look at my dreadful ticker!!! :sad2:

Back to catching up!
Heather
I can't sleep in either, now that school is over I'd like to, but just can't seem to :worried: why did he wake you????

Somehow I think you'll sneak in a trip before the ticket

A Quick hello to all my friends! :) I'm sitting in the hospital waiting room waiting to see the surgeon with DH - it's the big follow up apt today to see how the bone graft is progressing! Fingers crossed for him.

Sue - we're in Edmonton, and our sump pump is in overdrive the last couple days! What devastation in Calgary, so sad. I'm amazed they'll be going ahead with the stampede! What a fighting spirit calgary is showing :)

I laughed out loud at your grilling escapade Erica! How funny!!!! :)

I thought the same thing, really surprised they are going thru with the Stampede! My husbands cousin in Sask has like 3 or 4 pumps going :scared1:

Supposed to start warming up here for This weekend! I hope so, I have 9 for a BBQ Saturday, and hope to dine on the patio! Happy Canada Day!

Catching up, hope the meeting for your husband went well

Hi Peeps!! :wave2:

Well it's been a heck of a week so far... busy, hectic and at times stressful, and that has left little time for the DIS. :(

Hope you all been well, and actively thinking, planning, scheming and cha-cha-changing away!! :goodvibes

We did see Monsters University over the weekend and LOVED it!! :cheer2:

Hope to get caught up in the next day or two. Miss you all!

A few quick responses...

Marie, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for receiving good news for DH's bone graft

Kor, have you brainstormed on that pirate map yet and clues? Oh I so love to do this sort of thing! pirate: (but I think I read some mental RCing.....the CR??)

Heather love the pix!!! Not just the subject but the beautiful way you have enchancing each pix! :thumbsup2

Jen, do so hope that DD's fever is gone and that she has able to go to school today. Those last days and goodbyes are so important for the little ones!
We saw it last night. Daughters wanted to leave while credits were rolling, but I said noooooo, we have to stay for the surprise end I heard about on the boards. :rotfl: they both rolled their eyes, but stayed.

Wilderness Lodge....I saw it, I had to have it. :rotfl2: I arrive on July 5th....
I have woods view. Could have done Courtyard view for $50 more total...Did not know which. What do you all think? Should I have gone for that instead? Woods view sounded nice and I didn't even request anything....should I? I have to do the work thing again..what's up with that??!! So open to room request suggestions...or courtyard view......?? Have a wonderful day everyone...I will catch up when I get home tonight!! I really love this place.:)
I don't know if Kook answered yet, still trying to catch up ;) if Woods view, I'd request north wing near otter pond. I've only had courtyard views, but I like north wing, same side as CS, and boat dock. I hear that's a good woods view.
For the $50 I'd go with courtyard. I love the Inner courtyard view, so pretty. Our last visit we had an upper floor ( but not the dreaded solid balcony, request open balcony) inner courtyard in south wing, I prefer north, but it was our best room yet. First time our courtyard view was of The Villas, second was north wing, but the solid balcony which I hated, 3rd time was the charm :goodvibes. We could watch The Electric Water Parade from our balcony too!

Hey all- we are having a "grand" time. Yesterday am went to AK- did Everest (2x), Kali (2x) , dinosaur and primeval whirl ...started at 9 and back in the room by 12:30!!! Met up with our band director and his wife at MK around 8 and had a blast until 11:30- big thunder (2x) splash, castle show, wishes and haunted mansion.

Off to the studios today

Janet- congrats to Sam for band!!! She'll love it!
Sounds wonderful :thumbsup2

Woohoo! BWI sounds lovely - it's the resort in front running for my next trip :)
It seems like Jan 2015 will take forever to come! I could do with a review before then, Jen ;)

Quick update on DH (it's his bday today and we're taking him to Red Robin (A CDN burger joint) for dinner :) -- yeah! No cooking!!! -- tomorrow is date night at the VIP theatre to see The Heat)

Dr apt was a mixed bag still. He is finally given the go ahead to begin more aggressive Physio to see if he can get movement in the top joint of his pinky. If after 2 months/ end summer it's still not moving or contributing to function of his other three working fingers, he'll have to make a choice if its really worth keeping if it is hindering function of the other three. He's grown quite attached to his little/ smaller hand, so that would be a big dissapointment to lose baby finger too. The surgeon said though in his opinion if the baby finger has no movement still, it's just going to suck from his three good fingers, and he'll have better function with three fingers than 3 and a tag along finger that's not offering any function to his overall hand use.
So it's a waiting game and Physio all summer to see what kind of movement / if any he can obtain in his baby finger. Next Visit is Aug 28th. We should have a little better idea by then what he's looking at for going forward to meet his goal of going back as a Sheriff/ if he can. That's the hope though.

DH and I are in need of a holiday!!!

DS 21 FINALLY has his interview for his first job at Home Depot ( CDN hardware store) today! He's applied for a night shift position M-F 10pm-6:30am
On the freight team -- offloading/ stocking etc. I am so hoping he gets it because he needs to get his life started somehow - he needs it for experience- he needs it as a stepping stone for whatever he's going to do next ( which at the moment is kind of unknown , but leaning towards the possibility of becoming an electrician) -- he needs it for his sanity and self esteem! He just needs something to feel good about and to work and have his own savings and sense of accomplishment -- oh how I hope he's successful and gets offered the position! I have a feeling if he fails at this, his self esteem might be crushed and he may just go into a slump :( please pixie dust for my boy!!!!

Hope all is well with all my loving RCer family
pixiedust:pixiedust: for both your husband and son.
 the Red Robin burgers & yam fries, lol.

Hellooooooooooooo chicas! :grouphug:

Marie: Happy Birthday to your hubs! Hoping the more-intense physio does the trick. Positive thoughts, as always! Savor that no-cook dinner tonight -- those are THE best.

Janet: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for Sam! She rocks. Glad she's doing it. She's going to have a blast... and make tons of great memories in the process. :dance3:

DetTigs: :hyper: Lovin' your update. Enjoy the rest of your trip! :worship:

Jen: :rotfl2: Sooooo, if you go with BWI you can scope it out for us! popcorn:: For standard views, I've got the following advice for a good view... "Courtyard, Facing Epcot" -- the pics I've seen in Kooks' thread show it looking out over the France Pavilion. You can see Illuminations if you can nab one of these rooms.

Sheila: Speaking of BWI, how'd you like it there? :goodvibes

Willow: Hahaha, NICE change! :thumbsup2

Koh: Shall we break out the popcorn again? Any more thoughts on CR? popcorn::

Only news I've got to share...

Hubbo was at home yesterday. (He needed to work from home because everyone at his work was bugging him and he has to work on his talk for a conference he's attending this weekend. Mind you, working with Miss M and myself hanging around is infinitely MORE difficult than colleagues bugging you all day.) I heard him go upstairs into the office and let loose with a phrase I can't share here. :rolleyes1 He comes running back downstairs and tells me to check my email. The email in question was a letter from the director of the lab. Very short and sweet but the hubster was given a promotion, effective immediately. :faint: He's never been a "toot his own horn" type, so this sort of thing means a lot to him beyond the obvious as it requires multiple written recommendations from respected members of his field on top of review-by-committee before it can go ahead -- and it was all done without him knowing. So proud of that nerd. :lovestruc

That's wonderful news, congrats to your husband :thumbsup2

Hmmm...should I be worried?? I know you weren't in the pirate rooms and I'm thinking they're in a bit better shape...so what did you really not like about it?

How was the pool? Food court? Mousekeeping?

We haven't stayed at CBR since 2007, before pool & room refurb, but our room was in good condition, mouse keeping was great, food court was fine, good bus service, we were there 10 nights. Beautiful grounds. Loved the hammocks on the beach :beach: we were in Jamaica.

Just wanted to pop in and wish all you lovelies a good night. Hopefully, I can get to sleep before 4 AM, since I am going to work tomorrow with the DH. He and I are dropping the minivan off to get the brakes done. Hopefully, they won't have to do anything extra and it will only cost the base price they quoted us, which was $189 for all 4 brakes.

Good luck! Hope it goes well with the brakes!

I should stay put...as much as I'd like to try out another resort, I like our current schedule...and seeing as though I'd need to keep the DxDP on both ends of the split and we're talking no discount on the last deluxe part stay...don't know that it'd be a good idea...

Day One: (of the staycation) Kindergarten Graduation!!!!

I am both  and  about this. Our baby is graduating kindergarten. Now I will have a 1st grader and 4th grader. My babies are growing up. :(

But, on the other hand, one step closer to no school tuition (for a couple of years) :hyper: DD6 is in private K, like DD9 was...now they will both be in public school with only before/after school program costs....which is a lot smaller expense (more money for Disney!!!) :cool1:

We will enjoy that for 2 years, until DD9 has to go to 6th grade....then it's back to private school, and empty wallet...:scared1:

Happy Friday RC friends! :wave2:

  My bananas are dancing again for the fortunate few

Willows....aren't you leaving for the BC next week??!!!

Pas.....Where are you????? :sail: Are you lost at sea??! Hope all is well and you're not working too hard. Don't you have a trip coming up very quickly??

Mousemommy....:cheer2: for graduation and more money!!!! Which in turn means more Disney ;) I'm with you on the spread out deal of the resorts....while we really like POR....same deal with the buses - multiple stops.

Sue...how's the knee? Hopefully all better. You're trip is quickly approaching :thumbsup2 I always tell Bill to wake me if I'm still sleeping when he leaves....strange I know :upsidedow I just like getting up before the kids do and getting things done while they sleep.

Koh... I think you'll be fine at CBR. We've looked at those pirate rooms, too. The kids will probably love em'!!! Like Mouse said, it is spread out, so if you are prepared for that ahead of time, it won't be a shock. The pictures of their pool are awesome!!! Get lots of pics and share when you get back ;):thumbsup2

Miss....and one big banana dance for your hubby!!!!!! Awesome news for your family :goodvibes

Kook.....Any Kook sightings lately???? She's sneaking around somewhere :tiptoe:

Jenn....any changes???!!!

Shelia...How's Bob doing these days? Hope he isn't giving you a hard time:goodvibes

Wookie....May the force be with you :yoda: and no extra costs with the van!!!

Janet....Howdy! Howdy! A late congrats from me to your daughter! My sister did marching band and loved it. People don't realize how hard they work....lots of hard work and heat!

Chimo....hope all is well with your son and hubby! pixiedust:

Det....Glad the trip is going well!!!

Who am I missing??? A big hello to Magic, GrumpyG, Basket, :wave2:

Off to take hubby his laptop. He left it sitting in the den :upsidedow
Heather

Heather -- I think Willows is at WL now?? Hehehe. Definitely in the right place! :-)

Good morning all! It's Friday!!

Heather -- I think Willows is at WL now?? Hehehe. Definitely in the right place! :-)

Good morning all! It's Friday!!

Good morning everyone!:) So....I've changed a couple of things! Nothing too drastic..:rotfl2: Oh this has been quite an adventure!..I talked things over with hubby, and we have cancelled the Wanyami Safari...which would have been close to $400 (yikes!) and instead went with WL CL. We just cannot control ourselves....:rotfl: This is it. I am done...no, really! Done. So it all looks like this: WL CL July 5th-8th...AKL CL July 8th-11th, AKL Pool View July 11th-13th. Then home (sigh.) We leave in 8 days!!

So now, I read what I've missed and catch up on everything! And please don't tempt me with more stuff!! :rotfl2:

Koh1977..I would call WDW and look at prices too...ya never know.

Hstrickland...your photos are too beautiful...must not change...must not change....

Mousemommy...isn't it funny how extra $$ always makes us think DISNEY!! And your baby is growing up...no more kindergarden... I remember that well..even though my "babies" are all grown up.

Pas130..Jeanette?...I haven't seen you on here, but could have sworn I saw a post on another thread? Are you on vaca now?

SueM....So now that I am at CL at WL...are there open balconies there? I think I am on Woods View (thought it might be a tad quieter for hubby...) Any thoughts on room requests now that I've cha changed again? Please tell me I will LOVE CL there!

Oh, and I finally picked up the phone and cancelled September's reservations.....nearly killed me, but I am being responsible..blah, blah, blah. Plus with all the upgrades I've done this trip, it'll be good to get that $$ from the deposit back in the bank!

TGIF Peeps!!

Give a big LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT to our gal Sam (and a cold bottle of water). Sorry that you've had a challenging week. Speaking of which, how is our fearless Changer in Chief? I hope she's just been busy working and all is well. Big hugs to you both.

Janet: COngrats on Sam making the HS marching band!! That is awesome!:thumbsup2

Janet: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for Sam! She rocks. Glad she's doing it. She's going to have a blast... and make tons of great memories in the process. :dance3:

Janet....Howdy! Howdy! A late congrats from me to your daughter! My sister did marching band and loved it. People don't realize how hard they work....lots of hard work and heat!

Janet- congrats to Sam for band!!! She'll love it!

I really want to see that.

WOO HOO!! Marching band was so much fun!! It's the one thing, that if I could go back in time to do high school again, that would make me want to. It's been almost 20 years since I marched and when I'm walking with someone, I still end up making sure we're walking on the same feet. It's odd how that kind of stuff never leaves you.

Ladies, thank you for your congrats and encouragement for Sam! :goodvibes She is really getting into it...and I am SO thankful she has been getting in shape over the past year....My friend told me that the band director has this mini camp in June to "unofficially" show the kids what August will be like... he'd rather know now if this isn't the kids thing as the drill is being written now. I'm psyched for her!! I signed up to be a chaparone for trips.. heck I signed up to volunteer everywhere! :goodvibes

Janet -- DH has DS working in a workbook to make sure he's ready for 1st grade (and doesn't forget everything!) and so he promised him an extra special surprise when he finishes it. Which he said was Disney...SO I'm thinking maybe after he completes it, he'll get the clues that lead him to the hidden letters DISNEY. Then with the last letter he gets the map which will have the treasure marked (bag with all the goodies?).

Thoughts?

Awesome!! Suggestion, check out Michaels or AC Moore for a toy treasure chest for DS and DD and fill it with gold coins, and disney goodies, small toys, stickers, etc. Perhaps his last clue can be a treasure map that will lead him to his treasure...bury it or hide it in the yard....inside you can have a note from Jack Sparrow saying that in addition to his gold and other "trinkets' his final treasure awaits him when you all take your trip to Disney in XX days!!:cool1:

Thank you all so much,:grouphug: thankfully she is feeling better now. I hate fevers.

So thankful she's feeling better Jen. I hate it when the kids get fevers.

Wilderness Lodge....I saw it, I had to have it. :rotfl2: I arrive on July 5th....

Willows, you will LOVE WL!! It is SO peaceful :)

:woohoo: LOVE AK!! and all these rides!! and MK at night!! Oh I do want to be there!

We saw it last night. Daughters wanted to leave while credits were rolling, but I said noooooo, we have to stay for the surprise end I heard about on the boards. :rotfl: they both rolled their eyes, but stayed.

Yes! We waited too :) I would of anyway but my friend who went with me told me that we had to wait for the surprise. :goodvibes

And Sue do hope your knee is feeling better every day

Day One: (of the staycation) Kindergarten Graduation!!!!

There are no open balconies at WL CL....but, you will LOVE it!!! Seriously it was our BEST.STAY.EVER!!!! :cloud9:

At the end of our trip, DH was ready to call the movers and just stay there, it was that good. Don't change!!!! :thumbsup2

Miss, CONGRATS TO DH ON HIS PROMOTION! :woohoo: or do I say "jolly good" :goodvibes

Marie, belated :bday: to your DH!! Will continue to keep both your DH and your DS in my thoughts and prayers. Keeps us updated on both your guys. :goodvibes Hoping your DS gets good news soon ... As a mom with a DS 21 that has had his struggles, I can totally relate  Hang in there Mama!!!

And we have Red Robin here too.... mmm so good... love the onion ring tower!
