So we booked 2 nites AKL room only before package at POR starts. Now my mom and I are considering switching to BC.

We arrive first night late evening and plan a few hours outlet mall shopping the next morning.. Rest of the time we plan resort time with my kids, 7 and 8. mainly pool time. We also have only a pool view at AKL.

On checkout day we plan on more pool time while I go drive over to POR to get package keys

What would you do?

Can you see fireworks from Epcot at the BC.

We havnt stayed at neither. Boma we are looking forward to and have ADR later that week.

I've never stayed at AKL, but you can see some of the high fireworks from the pool area and walkway near the lake at BC.

Unless you are driving, or taking a taxi, getting from BC to AKL for your Boma reservation will take at least an hour, maybe longer.

If you are planning to just hang at the resort, I prefer AKL for that over BC. BC has a great location but overall, I think AKL is a nicer resort.

The pool at BC, Storm Along Bay, is a great pool. But it's hard to keep an eye on your kids, the slide entrance is outside of the pool complex (not sure how you feel about your kids being out of your sight). Also, it tends to be very crowded and it's hard to get lounge chairs together.

Staying at AKL allows you to use the pool there and the pool at AKV (7 minute walk). Both are great pools. They don't have the bells/whistles that SAB does but they are nice pools and they aren't as chaotic as SAB.

As far as fireworks, you can walk to the bridge that goes to BWI and see some of Illuminations but it's not a great view and you only see the higher ones.

I would stick with AKL! AKL is beautiful and is a FABULOUS resort when you don't plan on going to the parks! There is so much to do - fabulous pools, animals, activities. Don't get me wrong, BC is great, but part of the benefit of BC is being so close to EP and DHS and since you aren't planning on going to the parks, I think BC is kind of a waste. The view of Illuminations from outside BC is not very good. I would save Illuminations for when you are actually in EP.

AKL gets my vote!

Looking at STD rooms, AKL is generally cheaper, too. But proximity to the Boardwalk for BC is good

Wow! So happy everyone voted to stay with AKL. We also decided late last night to keep it. Mainly as I did research on the Slide at Stormalong. With 4ft depth and that I cant be there when they come out , does that slide in. Though they can swim, kids are beginners and they might be too young fully enjoy this pool.

I think you made a good choice.....you're going to love AKL :goodvibes.

Honestly we can never choose between AKL & BC, we love both for different reasons. From what you said it sounds like you made the best choice for your trip. Have a wonderful time!
