How much time to get a GAC at MK?

We are breaking tradition this trip and going to MK on our first day vs. AK. At AK the guest relations line is nonexistent-- at the most we have waited behind 2 other people before getting dd's GAC, so we never had to factor in a wait to our touring plan. What should we expect at rope drop in the MK? We are going this Sunday. I just want to have a reasonable plan for the morning. Thanks!

That's really hard to predict.
AK is a lot smaller and less busy park, so less possibility of people needing Guest Relations in general.
You may find less people at ripe drop - some of the issues people come to Guest Relations for develop during the day - but it's quite variable.

You could go to Guest Relations OUTSIDE MK. It is toward the right side, as you face MK with the lake behind you.
You would need to go thrust bag check before you get to Guest Relations, but if you are waiting for rope drop anyway, you would otherwise just be standing there waiting for the park to open.

I doubt we will make it to the park for any significant period of time PRIOR to rope drop just because of dd's morning schedule.

Is the guest relations line at DHS any more predictable? (There is current debate in my house about where to head on the first day, and this may tip the scales where I want them to fall.)

Thanks again!

DHS is my preferred place to get the GAC. I usually go to the one just outside the gate. It has been quick and easy when I have used it.

It hard for all the parks but if you get their at rope drop you should be fine. Another good one at Dhs is out side where the kennels use to be it out of the way and only people who are walking to by it because they have a bag check their so that might not be as busy. But Dhs dose not have a rope drop show like mk so everyone will be going to get fast passes for toy story so you shouldn't have a problem. Not that you will have a problem at mk as sue said their another option out side. The one I like is at Epcot international gates because most people don't know their one their and if they have two people in line then it busy but that might be harder depending on where your staying.

Thanks guys....I think I will be able to convince my peeps that DHS is the way to go on day one now. :)

And so you know, the thing that scared me was Josh at easywdw posted a picture of the line at GR in the MK going out the door!

Sometimes that has to do with guest wanting birthday pins they out a cart outside and their a line that forms and guest wanting to go to guest services. Sometimes line up their then find out they could just walked right in. Just tell them they will get a better chance to ride you story mania if they to early.

The fun part is when you're a wheelchair user and the line goes out the door and down the steps. :scared1:

I just get in line and when it reaches the steps I ask the person behind me to hold my space in line while I go up the ramp way off to the side. Then I rejoin the line when they reach the top of the stairs.

Oh that would be super fun, since dd is in a wheelchair and we can't exactly split up. :lmao:

I just go up the ramp and wait to the side and usually someone will let me in or a CM will call me over after a bit.

When we got to MK GR this June the line was out the door and I was worried it would take forever, but they have so many CMs working there that I was in and out in 5 minutes at the most.

IMO MK is much faster, more efficient and has way more CMs working the counter! They move people through much more quickly!! At the studios, there are only a handful of kiosk types counters and they don't have as many CMS working and it just never seems to move as fast. And with only one narrow door to go in/out, it just seems to back up so much easier/quicker. JMHO. They also tend to be more argumentative there esp when THEY messed up my replacement GAC and they had the other one in their trash! LoL!

I like the Magic Kingdom Guest services at City Hall inside the gates. Then you won't be behind anyone who has a ticket that wouldn't work or whatever outside-the-park need. I haven't been to the City Hall GS at rope drop but when I was there about an hour after opening, it was walk-up with no one else in line and nicely air conditioned. (The outside-the-park GS is not air conditioned.)
