Advice needed re Dining Plan

Hi, we are off in a couple of weeks, have free dining so for the first time ever we will be using the dining plan.

I know that starters aren't included, but we're not big on puddings. Could we have something else (coffee??) Not sure about the soda either - does water count?

Really my main problem is with the meals that cost 2 credits. we are at the YC for 12 nights. Should arrive by about 6pm and may just have a snack and straight to bed, so that's a saved credit. We the have the following dinners booked:
T-Rex
La Hacienda de San Angel
The Wave
Mama Melrose
Le Cellier (2 credits)
Hoop Dee Doo (2 credits)
Planet Hollywood
Be our Guest (wedding aniversary)
Boma
Paradiso 37
San Angel

Also Cape May for our last day - leaving at 2pm so no dinner that night.

Should I just use the credits for everything and then just see what we're left with? We'll be havng breakfast in room and then CS lunch.

Really need some guidance as I just can't get my head round this!

Many thanks

Hi, for starters which DDP will you have? Quick Service, Standard, or Deluxe? I'm assuming you'll have the Standard one-1 TS, 1 CS, and 1 SC per night per person.

By puddings, do you mean all desserts? How many in your group?

If you have the standard plan for 12 nights you will have 12 TS credits each. Based on the meal you listed I count 13 credits needed. That means you'll only have to pay for one meal.

I've used the DDP and QSDP many times so hopefully I can help. I also maintain a snack thread letting you know all of your snack credit choices.

EDITED-just notice you also listed Cape May so that's 14 credits needed. You'll need to pay for 2 meals each or 1 signature one.

Sorry desserts. We have the standard plan.

Thanks, I'm just not sure if I should pay for the last one OOT or is there a meal that is cheaper?

Thanks.

Your amount of credits is tied to your nights, not your days so you will have 12 TS credits, 12 CS credits, and 12 SC per person.

With 14 credits needed what you want to do is pay for the 2 meals that are the cheapest. It may actually turn out to be one of your signature meals. You can check out the menus here Allears menus for pricing info.

For example, Cape May is about $31 for breakfast. Check out some of your other locations and see what you might order there and see if it's more or less. Your meal at T-Rex could run you $30-$35, depending on what you order. Le Cellier could be $50-$60 (again depending on what you order) so about $25/30 per credit.

Also, something else you may consider is to pay OOP (out of pocket) for one meal at 4 different locations.

One of you can order using a credit and the other one can pay OOP. Then you can order just one dessert with the plan and share it. This may save you the most money. You can do one meal on the plan and one OOP, just let your server know when you are ordering-they will give you separate bills. You will get a separate bill anyway if you order any adult beverages.

About beverages. You'll get one beverage at each TS meal. Refills included on most items. It can be coffee, soda, iced tea, etc. Glasses of water are free.

Thanks.

Thanks I didn't realise that one of us could order off the DDP while the other 2 go OOP (or visa versa). Something to think about.

Some of the signatures will let you order a cheese course for dessert BUT you have to get it after the meal.

You'd be better off to drop free dining and take the room discount; you'll save a lot more. Free dining is far from free

That might have been reasonable advice a few months age - but the original poster's trip is in a couple of weeks. It's much too late/close for a room-only (or any other) discount.

I would definetly make this the least confusing as possible by taking the suggestion to go to the allears menus and look at prices of possible options. Then just choose the places that seem the least expensive and go with that. If you change your mind on what to get when you go, so be it. Also compare price of one signature versus 2 regular to see what is cheaper. Not sure you're going to feel like dealing with this meal versus that meal on a regular basis while your there, if I even read that correctly. Again, as mentioned, depends on what you might get. If only burgers appeal to you at PH, that may be a good one to pay. Planning is great here.

Thanks but as we are flying from the UK this is a package - flights, YC for 12 nights, HRH for 7 nights, free dining, reduced ticket deal and airport transfers all included.

For us this really is FREE dining.

Thanks, I have been thinking doing it that way. I could tie myself in knots trying to save a few dollars here and there......as we have 14TC and 12 nights I may just pay for Le Cellier OOP. Then just relax and enjoy.

Many thanks for everyone's help with this.
