Kermit & Miss Piggy take on 10 Days of Delicious Disney Dining! Updated 7/15 IM BACK!

First a Real Life Update....

Well I had the pleasant experience of Kidney Stones last week and ended up needing SURGERY :headache::sick::eek: That was my first time being put under and I was SCARED :scared1: But it all went really well and now I just have to follow up with the doc next week and have a stent removed. YIPPPEEEEEE :rolleyes2 Apparently I have more brewing that are smaller so I have been instructed to drink lots of water & lemonade and limit my salt & meat intake. Good thing this happened AFTER Disney....ok back to our salt-laden meaty goodness antiques around WDW! Hmmmm I wonder if Disney food had something to do with this.....

Anyway, I will be updating tonight!!! I promise ::yes::

After a wonderful morning around Magic Kingdom we decided we needed some lunch, including Cheese Sauce! Of course we headed over to one of favorites at MK, Pecos Bills :cool1:

We got Robin the Hamburger kids meal with carrots & grapes

He loved it of course, got him some pickles with it and he was set!

Believe it or not he was the only one to get a burger here. Kermit decided he needed more pig of course! He decided on another pulled pork sandwich & fries

He loved every bite. The portion was huge but he still polished it all off :thumbsup2

I decided on the chicken wrap and fries (WITH CHEESE!!!!) and those wonderful Disney pickles

and here's the inside

This was also HUGE! It was soooooo yummy with lots of chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and Ranch dressing. The ingredients were very fresh and went great with the pickles.
What is WITH those pickles???? I seriously love them! I think its because they are so thin and crispy. They are just my favorite pickles of all time :worship: Robin started stealing them off my plate and wouldn't stop so I of course had to go up for more :hyper: And the Cheese sauce with the fries??? Cmon people that stuff is liquid gold! Something tells me with my doctor telling me to limit sodium I won't be seeing much of my beloved cheese sauce anymore :headache:
Honestly I actually eat very healthy when not in the world, I only turn into Miss Piggie at WDW!!!

Next Stop...La Hacienda De San Angel

Wow, we have never eaten at Pecos Bills but that pork sandwich and the chicken wrap look great :thumbsup2

There is something about plastic cheese that just says Disney to me! I cannot believe that I didn't have it one single time this last trip...guess I have to put it on my October list!

Firstly; really glad you are feeling better :)

DH really likes Pecos Bills and they do a great veggie burger in there for me, so we nearly always visit - gotta love that fixin's bar!

So glad you are recovering well! I had a kidney stone years and years ago - apparently totally random because I have never had them again (knock on wood!); my brother had the same thing happen. I'm guessing there's some hereditary element there. :confused3 Anyway, glad you're okay!

Loved the Pecos Bill review. For some reason, I just adore that place. We are doing the Deluxe DDP this year, so we will miss out on Pecos Bill as we won't have time (or room) for CS. I will be a bit sad about that, but I guess you never know...... ;)

Thanks! Oh man I love Veggie Burgers, I didnt even see it on the menu! I guess I will just have to go again :hyper:

Thank You! My Doc said it is hereditary....I'm actually the fourth one in my family to get them in my generation :scared1: My mom is actually going back to the Doctor this week about one she had a few months back....NOT PLEASANT. But I am just glad it is 2013, not 1813, and they can figure out what it is and do something about it!

Oh man you are BRAVE for doing the Deluxe plan! I dont think I could get my $'s worth on it, and I'm Miss Piggy! lol But then again if I didn't have little kids and could sit and have a leisurely meal, it may be worth it :lmao:

Glad you are feeling better!!! I've really enjoyed your reviews!

I just stumbled upon your reviews and I'm having a great time reading and looking at all your great pics. You are too funny.

I'm glad everything worked out with the kidney stones and surgery.

We've been to New England many times and enjoyed our trip to Boothbay Harbor a few years ago.

Glad you found me :goodvibes I had one more procedure yesterday and now I am good for now! :thumbsup2

I have never been to Boothbay! We are thinking of trying to get there this summer :woohoo:

So I will start off by saying we booked La Hacienda for two reasons.

#1 We had a party of 9 for this meal ( Us four plus my Cousin, his Wife, their Son, and my Aunt & Uncle...all of which are lucky enough to live 20 minutes from the Mouse SUPER JEALOUS) and the rest of our party would not get back to me to confirm until 3 days before the meal :scared1: So it was only this place or Biergarten and we went there last time we met up with them.

#2 We had an AWESOME meal here the first year it opened when Robin was only 10 months old :lovestruc I remembered them having AWESOME homemade tortillas and the Hacienda Grill was sooooooooo good :cloud9:

On with the show!

Sunday Evening, 4/21 had a forecast for rain but the last few days the forecast hadn't really matched up with the actual weather so we almost left the ponchos back in the room. Something told me to just take them and boy am I glad we did! We got to Epcot via the Monorail and as soon as we rounded the curve into Epcot it started POURING! We were supposed to meet my family at the entrance to Spaceship Earth, so we exited the monorail, put on our shower curtains and RAN for cover. Thank God we also had a rain cover on the stroller! I tried calling the family and they didn't answer...I called all four cell phones and no one picked up! I was beginning to think they said screw it and were standing us up, but then I saw them coming slowly through the rain curtain. My Cousin is a big dude and he does NOT run...
We rode Spaceship Earth and then killed some time at Club Cool to get out of the rain. I was really looking forward to seeing Robin's reaction to Beverly! This was his very first time having soda so I figured then he wouldn't want any more :thumbsup2 Such an evil Mama I know :lmao:

So here's Robin and my cousins' son trying it....

Robin didnt even care! In fact he then wanted to try them ALL. Evil plan Backfired! :lmao: My cousin's son had it before and he gave more of an expression...
We tried all the sodas and decided the Watermelon one was the favorite (I think China or Japan?) But then Robin went into sugar craze mode. He found the giant coke bottle plastic coin banks and decided they made an awesome noise when banged together.

When he tried to recruit his cousin into sword fighting we knew it was time to leave!
Luckily there was a break in the rain and so we decided to chance being 45 minutes early for our 6:15pm ADR. Well of course they seated us right away, either because the park cleared out from the rain or because there was another reason we were still oblivious to that you could get an ADR here so easily....HMMMMMMMMMMMM

We were seated in the area closet to the check in area, almost the first table in the restaurant. Our server was pleasant but that is where his skills as a server ended. He started off by asking if we were celebrating anything, why yes actually TWO Things. My husband said my Birthday and then I also said my Cousin and his Wife's anniversary (it was actually that same day) but they did absolutely nothing with that information :confused3 No cupcake, no singing, no Happy Anniversary written on a dessert plate NOTHING. It made me sad for my cousins since they were kind enough to share their Anniversary dinner with all of us :sad1:Strike ONE....
Then everyone besides Kermit, myself and the kids, ordered Sweet Tea to drink. IT LITERALLY TOOK 45 MINUTES TO GET TEA! We asked him three times and he kept saying oh it's coming very soon then disappearing ?! I finally got up to find a manager who informed us they had to brew a new pot and it takes a long time. UMMMMM OK so maybe our server could of explained that and brought something else instead of trying to gloss over the situation? My Uncle has had some serious medical conditions which leave him heavily medicated and a bit unpredictable at times (can be fun sometimes, like the Christmas he dissapeared and we found him making snow angels outside! :lmao:) I literally thought he was going to punch our server in the throat when he finally brought out the tea! :furious: I tried to break the ice by joking about how they had to walk all the way to China to get the tea :faint: My Uncle didn't laugh but everyone else did!

While we waited for them to get back from China with the tea, we were given the chips and salsas.

The chips were a bit on the stale side  But we were hungry so they were gone FAST. I like both salsas, the red is smoky with chipotle flavor and the green is milder and a bit sweet with tomatillo.

About 10 minutes after the tea came (that's right an HOUR after we sat down) our food came. I only took pics of ours since I knew the family would probably kill me if I asked to take pictures of theirs. They all had seafood and actually really liked the food, despite the slow service.

Robin had the Grilled Chicken Kids Meal

It was basic food but he ate most of it. Except the green beans of course...I think I managed to get him to eat two of them :woohoo:

Even Baby Muppet got in on the good stuff this time with some plain avocado!

He liked it of course!

Continued!

Kermit & I ordered the Hacienda Grill again
First some Rice & Beans

Then the platter of grilled yummy-ness

Ok so it was worth the wait! Holy Cow (& Chicken & Pig!) it was DELICIOUS. The grilled chicken was marinated and juicy, the steak was cooked perfectly and tender and the lil piggies were SO FREAKN GOOD. The skins were snappy and the inside salty and succulent. I also really loved the veggies again, the corn being my favorite. It was kind of sweet and I love queso fresco so yummmmmmmmmmmo.

I made some little tacos with the corn tortillas and gobbled it up FAST because Robin was approaching crazy toddler time. All you parents out there know what that is. When your child decides it would be a great idea to sword fight with utensils, or hide under the table and eat the delicious morsels people so kindly left there for him, or run around the table playing duck duck goose by himself :confused3 yes people it was GO TIME

See?! See that crazed look in his eyes!

We asked for the bill and gave our server my DVC card and they gave us 20% off instead of the 10% the DVC guide said! Im not sure if he was trying to redeem himself but after the terrible service we thought it was a nice gesture.

We left Mexico and luckily the rain had let up. We hung out in China a bit and had some nice family time

Perry!

We left Epcot around 8:30pm since it was a school night and we wanted to avoid the Illuminations crowd. When we got back to the Contemporary we wanted something sweet. We stopped by Contempo Cafe for THE FIRST CUPCAKE OF THE TRIP
I decided on the Pineapple Upside Down Cupcake with Rum Frosting

You can see the cupcake with the bedspread in the background, which means I walked all the way back to the room without eating it! That was some self control people!!!
Oh man this thing was DEVINE :cloud9: The frosting was sweet and light and the cake was moist with pineapple filling. I was worried the rum would be weird but it was really faint and I barely noticed it.
Here's the inside

It was HUGE! Like a little layer cake almost. SO FREAKING GOOD. Seriously, Contempo Cafe you rock at cupcakes! :thumbsup2

Next Up Restaurantosaurus and the many uses of a Bucket & Shovel....

First of all, so glad you're feeling better! I've never had kidney stones but my MIA has had a couple of attacks and she says she'd rather give birth than pass a stone. :rotfl2:

Glad your dinner at La Hacienda was good enough to compensate for the super-slow service. We love LH and eat there every trip. Service has generally been good, so I guess we've been fortunate.

Great update, look forward to more! :thumbsup2

The doctor asked me which was worse, for me childbirth was but not by that much! :scared1:

I'm glad you've had good experiences, last time the service was great for us. I hope it was a fluke :confused3

Great reviews! Looking forward to reading more.

Thanks for Reading!!! :cool1:

Monday 4/22 was Earth Day & the 15th Anniversary celebration at AK, so of course we started our day off there!

The crowds were crazy and I knew I really wanted to get some of the limited time merchandise, so I sent the boys off to Dinoland while I waited in line for some goods. Well I waited in line for 2 hours :scared1: Thank God they had CMs along the line with trivia and sing a longs. But by the time I was done the boys were Hot & HUNGRY so I met up with them at Restaurantosaurus for some food and Air Conditioning.

I was feeling like I needed to be a bit on the healthy side (even though I REALLY wanted to try the Mac & Cheese Hot Dog) so I ordered the

Vegetable Subosaurus - Grilled Vegetables, Mushrooms, Onions, and Provolone served on a Toasted Roll with French Fries

The bread was nice and toasty and the veggies (Zucchini, Red Peppers, Mushrooms) seemed pretty fresh. I felt like the bread really overpowered the amount of veggies though. The cheese was yummy and ooey gooey covering all the veggies. There were plenty of fries under the sandwich, but because they were underneath they got a little soggy. Overall I enjoyed it, but after I finished I kept thinking of that hot dog!

Kermit got

1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger - served with choice of apple slices or fries

Basic Disney Cheeseburger, he liked it. They have a decent fixings bar here with mushrooms & onions, but NO CHEESE SAUCE! :scared1: Seriously, why even bother with the fixings bar if you aren't going to have cheese sauce?! :confused3

Robin got

&

Kids Meal Turkey Wrap with Apples & a Cookie. Honestly, he didn't really eat much of the wrap. He was too busy trying to steal french fries from us! He did, however, LOVE what the meal came in

I wish I remembered to bring it with us when we went to the Poly later in the trip but oh well. We did bring it over to the Dig Site to help in hunting Dinosaurs

And my kid was the one with a bucket "helmet"

Dino Hunting is serious business Mom!!!!
I have to admit it was pretty adorable watching him with his "helmet & sword" I was proud that he had such an imagination, and was still young enough not to care what anyone thought about his outfit :lmao: I hope he stays that way!

Up Next, Contempo Cafe and MORE CUPCAKES!!!

I found your report over the weekend and just got all caught up. I love your sense of humor and awareness that kids can be really annoying and the fact that you try to reign him in when possible. Kudos to you as a parent! I really had to laugh at your first update though when you wanted to walk away and pretend he wasn't your kid! :rotfl2: Unfortunately I do see too many parents at WDW who do just that. :sad2:

Your reports are honest and refreshing. Oh, and you didn't miss much with the Mac and Cheese hot dog. We had it in January and while it sounds like major Yummo, it was just meh.

Looking forward to the rest of your updates! Such a fun report.

ETA: Thestory about pooping in the Beast's potty was priceless!

Thanks for the compliments! I'm glad to know the hot dog wasn't that great, was having serious hot dog remorse! :rotfl2:

The evening of 4/22 we had reservations at 50's PT and were planning on viewing Fantasmic! But we ended up taking it easy at AK and spending some extra time there since I waited so long for all the limited merchandise. We got to do Rafiki's Planet Watch, which Robin was really looking forward to. We had watched a Disney planning DVD where they show you the area and briefly said something about "combing a goat". Well that's what Robin focused in on and kept asking to do the weeks leading up to the trip and the whole time we were there! He would just walk up to random people in the parks and say "I'm going to comb a goat!" :rotfl2: If you have ever seen the movie Waiting you will know immediately where my mind went every time he said that....BAD MAMA :happytv: Here's a bonus pic of Robin Combing the Goat! :lmao::rotfl:

Fast Forward to us leaving AK and getting back to the Contemporary, we decided to have a low key dinner at Contempo Cafe. Robin was super excited to get to watch the monorail buzzing by, and I was super excited to get another cupcake :thumbsup2 For dinner Kermit & I decided to split two entrees, one pizza and one salad. We decided on....

Marinated Beef Flatbread - with oven roasted tomatoes, garlic, onions, arugula, and goat cheese
Oh Man this thing was AWESOME :lovestruc This was by far my favorite QS entree of the trip. The crust was crispy, the meat well seasoned and tender, the arugula fresh and the goat cheese & tomatoes added just the right sweetness & tang. My piggy mouth is seriously watering right now ::yes:: I HIGHLY recommend getting this
&

Chicken Chop Salad - mixed greens, corn, black beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and avocado-buttermilk dressing

I wish I could say the same about the salad. The description & picture on the screen of the kiosks really had me thinking I would love this. It is just up my alley, but the dressing was just well, weird :confused3 It was oily, which was really odd for what we thought was supposed to be avocado dressing. I was expecting something creamy. It also had zero flavor, it just basically made the lettuce oily, seriously ODD. The rest of the ingredients were fresh, except the chicken was that weird spongy grilled chicken. I prefer mine freshly grilled slightly charred. It was like that stuff you can by pre packaged at the grocery store. I let Kermit eat most of it as I stole most of the flatbread :rotfl:

Robin had the Kid's Chicken Nugget Meal with apples & chocolate pudding

He liked this ok, but I really wish they would get some better quality nuggets. I mean McDonald's even does better nuggets. Cmon Disney get with the program! He was really excited to get the pudding though, this is the only place I can recall that had it for the kiddos.

On to Dessert already :hyper::hyper::hyper:

We got TWO cupcakes this time because we basically fought over every bite of the pineapple one :rotfl2:

Red Velvet with Mickey on the left & Birthday Cake with Minnie on the right!

YUMMMMMMM They were both really rich and full of frosting, just the way I like em!
Two Layers with frosting in the middle for both

Next trip I will come over here for the cupcakes, SERIOUSLY life changing!

We enjoyed our relaxing meal at Contempo and rolled ourselves back to BLT for a well deserved nights sleep!

Next Up....Snacks Galore!

Hey there! I've been a bit DIS-absent, but I'm back and all caught up. Thanks for the great reviews! Those cupcakes all look amazing. The wait at La Hacienda, however, sounded pretty bad :(

Oh man you are BRAVE for doing the Deluxe plan! I dont think I could get my $'s worth on it, and I'm Miss Piggy! lol But then again if I didn't have little kids and could sit and have a leisurely meal, it may be worth it
You know, we do a LOT of character meals. And they make that plan very cost-effective. So between those and signature dining, we really only have two meals a day booked (with the exception of one or two days), so I'm hopeful that it won't be a painful amount of food. It is a nice compromise for us - character meals for DD and signature meals for me. I think it will be a lot of fun! :cool1:
