We're late for a very important date May 2013 TR Updated 5/17 New TR started!

Ooh, no!! :headache: So sorry you did not make your flight, but that is great that the Southwest people and other guests at the airport were doing everything they could to help you out.

I am definitely wondering what else can go wrong?! :confused3 You have already had quite the adventure and you're not even in Florida yet!!

Oh my word I knew as soon as you said what time you were leaving this was coming!!! We tend to be over cautious and we leave to get to the airport like 2 hours before flights. I am just such a paranoid flyer!!!

I was seriously impressed with Southwest. Usually we just fly with whatever airline is the cheapest. I've never been impressed enough by any single airline to be loyal in the past. I think in the future we are sticking to Southwest, unless we fly out of a regional airport closer to home.

It was quite the adventure getting to Orlando!!

We should've went with our guts and taken a shuttle at 6 or 630!
As my husband would say "you live, you learn, you cloth diaper" (okay thats probably only funny to us)

Sounds like quite an adventure! I wish I had been there. Keep up the good work, Moosey Pie.

All caught up! :cool1:

I'm glad I didn't really have to suffer through worrying about the implications of you missing your flight. I'm sure there were lots of moments of stress, but I'm glad it worked out as smoothly as it did. Major kudos to your Southwest friends!!!

What an adorable photo of Gavin napping in his car seat!!!

That is great that he clapped for the first time. And hilarious that he wouldn't repeat his performance on command. Kids! :sad2:

Love the picture of your luggage! That's a LOT of stuff!!! And that was after you weeded out a bag, right? But since you were going for a month, it all makes sense. :lmao:

The Toy Story picture you posted was awesome. And I enjoyed reading about your Secret Security Line. Too bad it didn't save you quite enough time.

Love your newest subscriber. My DH reads my reports, but hasn't joined the DIS, so never publicly comments.

Michigan, huh?

Like I said, very impressed with Southwest. I think that is what we will be using in the future, unless we use the regional airport that only flies United I believe.

LOL Brandan kept saying it was a lot of stuff but I seriously did well on the packing. The person that over packed was actually DH, he had a bunch of clean clothes left at the end of our stay. We had one large duffel bag with all of our clothes, a rolling suitcase that had snacks, sunscreen, toiletries, blankets, etc in it. The 3rd rolling suitcase basically was filled with diapers and wipes, which I will admit that I brought way too many because we still have some left (we cloth diaper so I bought a large box just for vacation). We had 2 carry on bags - a backpack that was already packed and ready to go for the park in case our room was not ready, and then the big pink bag of doom that was heavy and annoying. I had my pump in there *just in case* which I don't pump at home ever so I don't know why I thought I might need it in Disney... but that was down in the middle and its heavy. Then it was stuffed with snacks, toys, books, and stuff we would need for the baby. I was glad I had that big pink bag filled for the airport/plane since we got a bonus flight to Michigan!

He learned to clap, shake hands, high five and wave pretty close together. When I want him to do one of them to show someone he just stares at me and makes me look silly while I am clapping/waving/holding my hand up or out haha. Babies! :cool2:

My husband thinks he's funny. He's had the app on his phone for months but has never used it. I read a lot of TR out loud to him that I subscribe to and he's gotten into reading them. I told him to get an account so he could subscribe himself and read them LOL.

Wow, that is quite the rocky start!

Sorry to hear about your "broken" plane, but at least it didn't hold you up too much.

EWWW! on the wet floor. I don't use the overhead bins (I can't reach and I hate all of the jockeying for storage space), plus I like having my stuff with me within easy reach, so I always store my bags on the floor under the seat. I would not be a happy camper if my stuff got wet.

Sounds like Gavin is doing GREAT so far, and good for you for the public nursing. You gotta do what you gotta do!

WHEW what an eventful morning!! I'm glad you were FINALLY on your way to Disney World now after that whirlwind adventure!! And glad that Gavin was such a little trooper through the whole thing. :thumbsup2

Just found your TR today and all caught up. I love that Gavin learned to clap right before WDW! (Dug Baby is still working on that one). Your travel day (and days before) sounds like a nightmare. But I guess it all worked out. Just not as planned. I'm glad that Gavin slept through the flight! Looking forward to more! :goodvibes

It could've been worse, at least it was just a broken sign. We don't normally use the overhead bins as we usually just have a small carry-on. Traveling with a baby is so different :lmao: I don't like using them because usually we are in the middle of the plane and our stuff ends up a few rows away and I don't like that if we need something or for trying to get off the plane in a timely manner. We like to have ours on the floor. I kept that one down because it had the snacks, my trip journal, and toys/baby supplies.

My husband told me I had definitely earned my mom badge on this trip, LOL.

Wow...... What a trip! Lol. Can't wait to hear more!

:welcome: Thanks for reading!

It definitely could have been worse considering... and having a super cooperative & pleasant infant definitely helped keep me calm!

Thanks so much for making it over! Gavin could've done it way sooner but he was more interested in letting US clap. He liked to hold our hands while we clapped. He thought it was hilarious, so adorable. Honestly it could've been worse. I'm grateful for how smooth it went despite missing a flight and having a broken plane! It also helped that baby boy was cooperative and pleasant despite little sleep. Oh that Disney magic... working on him before we even got there :)

(just realized all your past TR in your signature, excited to read them all! I guess I'm always on my phone and that is why I never noticed?)

Hi! I'm joining in! :goodvibes I'll be taking my son to Disney this December, so anytime I see a fellow DISer write a TR involving a baby, I subscribe. Can never have too much info! :thumbsup2
Your DS is adorable. I can't believe how rocky your trip started out; it was the plane that would never take off! But you seemed to handle it amazingly well for a mom who was dealing with an infant and injured husband. Kudos to you! And talk about plunging off the deep-end...first time nursing in public was in an airport! Sounds like you handled it like a champ, though. I'm curious to hear how nursing at Disney went for you.

:welcome: Thanks for reading! How old will your little one be, about 8 months? Everyone thought we were crazy to attempt to take a baby to Disney but honestly it was the best time to go. It was the 1-2 weeks BEFORE he started being mobile so he was very content and he absolutely loved everything and slept better and nursed better there which was my biggest worries before we left. I was always looking for TRs involving babies before I left and didn't find very many so I was determined to write this TR for anyone else in the same boat nervous about taking a baby!

Loving your TR and subbing in! Who can resist a TR with a cute baby in it honestly? :goodvibes

pixiedust: Thanks for reading, welcome!! I know, right? I thought the baby would lure some more readers. :lmao:
