Free Dining 2013 Part 2 ~ The Sequel

I can tell you, the very first "leak" was on here on April 19 and the more detailed one was on April 24th. If that helps you out any?

Hi! and Thanks!:flower3:

It's usually a couple weeks or less. There have been times when the leak was only 24 hours before release. I know you're all in pain from all the waiting but don't get stressed just yet.

Also remember that Disney themselves have changed dates even after a promo was released. They have done it many times over the years. Sometimes adding dates and sometimes taking a few days off.

Good point--I also know this to be true as we were able to get FD with a Saturday check-in the week before Thanksgiving in 2011, but that date was only up a few hours when Disney moved it back to Thursday. We were just in the right place at the right time. They can and do move dates around even after GP release.

Just wanted to share this, and of course WE already know this, but I recently bought a book on ways to save money at WDW (sorry, the title shall remain nameless as to not break any "rules"). And right there, in print, it said to "just ask" for Free Dining when you call, because it is a Disney practice to apply this at random. :goodvibes

What?!?? Wow. Pm the book title. Lol. Thanks!!!

Well, thanks to the SW fare sale last week, we rolled the dice (and figured using a calculator) and got airfare for 12/4-12/10. Using my husbands points we got round trip airfare (non stops both ways from SAT to MCO) for 4 for $591. THEN we transferred $$$$ and bought and paid things off, around this past year on our disney visa and have $493 worth of Disney Rewards Points to use so we booked at PO-R. Even if FD doesn't happen for that last day of check in (as rumored), we can down grade to ASMovies and use the $493 to pay for food. Plus found out with his remaining points from SW, we can rent a car that week for Free. So, either way this will be a way less expensive trip than last ones. It will be even CHEAPER, IF the FD does pan out for 12/4. Fingers crossed::yes:: and pixiedust:

Yep. That's when we are going and also got the round trip air fair. Hoping to get a FD pin to make it even cheaper.

While I know 'what' a PIN is and 'where' to find them, should I request a vaca planning DVD in hopes of receiving a FD one attached to it? I haven't ordered a vaca planning DVD in years. And what other mailings should I look for or order in hopes of seeing a FD pin attached? Thanks in advance!

Registering, ordering and anywhere else you can put your name, address, email, other contact info can increase your odds of getting a pin code. However, the mailing list generator for those pin codes is about as random as random ever gets. Good luck!

I ordered the planning DVD, have MyDisneyExperience setup on their website, am a Disney Visa card holder, etc. and I haven't gotten any pins. I think it may have more to do with previous trips in their system and just luck of the draw.

That's a lot of awesome savings!! Woohoo for you! :)

Hi, I'm new to the boards and this free dining thing. Our reservations are already booked for Oct 15th - 22nd. If they offer free dining from the 19th on can I still get it? Or at least for the days that are during the promotion? Just wondering. Thanks!

No. You must check in during a date free dining is offered.

If you do a split stay, you could get it for the last 3 nights. However, there is a possibility you would have to change rooms, and you would definitely have to checkout out and check back in on the 19TH. I think with the limited savings for three nights, that may not be worth the hassle. But only you can decide that.

Welcome!!

I am not the expert on here but I believe you can do a split reservation where you can do a room only for the first part and start a package with FD on the date they start FD( assuming they offer it). I think you run the risk of having to possibly change rooms though.

A lot of others on here can explain it all clearer.

This is exactly what we are doing in August. We are doing RO for 2 days and then doing the package with the FD pin that the one person in our group received. We will have to check out and back in and yes there is a chance we will need to switch rooms but for us we are saving over 1000.00 so it is worth the chance

I think a few folks going in August are doing this since the date range didn't include the last few days of August like it used to. I moved my trip one week forward, but that at least means I can do the halloween party.

You'd think they could just connect the reservations some way so you didn't have to check out. I mean, how hard could it be to just link them up, especially as long as this has been happening. People do split stays all the time. Hopefully you won't have to change rooms...

Can anyone help??
I posted this a few pages back and nobody replied:
Can anyone do me a favor that HAS a pin code? I currently have a regular FD reservation at CBR because that was all that was available. We can change our dates to a week later if it meant a different moderate, because the thought of the small beds at CBR is killing us. A friend we are travelling with got a pin code but she cant call right now, stupid work lol.

Can anyone call and check availability at moderates for Sept 29-October 5th? We need 2 rooms. Id be forever grateful!
