Captain's Grille reviews?

In all of our many trips we have not eaten here. Thinking of ADRs in September. Haven't seen many comments either way, would love your thoughts!

We ate there for dinner on our last trip and probably won't ever go back. Service was horrible, it wasn't busy at all and it took 40 minutes to be seated(we had an adr) and then another 20 minutes before our server even came to the table. Then when the food came out it had obviously been under a heat lamp for some time. We ended sending a complaint to Disney and they refunded the cost of the meal.

We had a terrible meal here in April. Extremely poor service, which lead to us being there for over 2.5 hours :sad2:
The food was not good. One person in our party had scallops that were not cooked all the way through. I had ordered the crab cake "entree" which is priced $10 more than the crab cake appetizer....allegedly because it has potatoes as a side and a small salad....ummmmm, there was a sliver of a potato on my plate....resembling a large fingernail. :crazy2:

Our kids had chicken noodle soup which we jokingly called celery soup, because there was neither chicken, nor noodle in that soup.

Just a really, really bad experience. Never again. :headache:

I went last month with my family (5 people- all adults) and we all really enjoyed it. The bread they brought out was tasty. I got a very good cocktail, and the braised short ribs that literally fell apart. There were a couple of steaks ordered, both were positive, and the scallop item was ordered as well to positive reviews. Desserts were also very good- in particular the apple tart. (Although the caramel gelato on my dad's deconstructed banana's foster was amazing.) I wasn't a huge fan of my super chocolatey thing, but overall we actually enjoyed that meal the most out of our table services. The restaurant was fairly empty, so the service was a little slow, but t was our first day so we were extremely exhausted and ready to relax. It was a great bonus that we got to stroll the beach and pool at the Yacht club afterwards.

NOTE: The food at Captain's Grille is usually above average and quite
tasty, but pretty expensive for what your are getting. At 25% less cost,
or so, it would be well worth the price. The service is very spotty and our
server was almost surly. We are fond of the New York Strip and the
Rosemary Pork Chop. But, the Chicken was dry and bland. One would also
expect a great plate presentation for the price, but the plating looks like
a local diner's Blue Plate Special. The Gelato for dessert is a good end
for the meal. As a meal, I would prefer lunch, as the sandwiches are very
tasty and the price-value is good.

have eaten there twice and have had excellent food and service. I go for the seafood and my wife orders the steak. My seafood dishes have been heavenly and their crab cakes are delicious and not all filler. The only time I eat desert is when I get the pre-fix dinner but they are fantastic!

I have eaten there and it was just as nice and good and lower priced than the yachtmans, next door, food all comes out of the same kitchen. The only problem I now have with the Chaptains Gril,l is that the Rib-eye steak is nolonger offered, you have to go to Yachtmans for one, But everything else they offer has been pretty good. :woohoo::hug:

I ate there in mid-March and it was okay. The service was acceptable (so not outstanding, but not awful either). The food was okay, but it really depended on what your ordered. The scallop appetizer (tiny scallops) was okay, but was over-priced. The crab cakes were okay, but others on property were better. The braised beef dish (not on the menu anymore it appears) was good.

We were seated in an alcove area, straight down from the entrance, so the sound really echoed. It made the area pretty loud and it was right on the main walkway path so I got bumped several times.

Overall, the experience at Captain's Grille was okay, but not enough to warrant a return trip when there are so many others places to try at WDW.

I appreciate all the input! This was on my DH list, and we enjoy trying New to us places. Will give it a good think, and if we book it, I'll let you know what we thought!

I've eaten at Captain's Grille for breakfast three times and it is really great. It's never busy, and the buffet is reasonably priced and has a lot of good options.

I've also had dinner there one time. The service and food were ok, but not great.

If you want to check it out, I'd definitely recommend going for breakfast.

We are there last year and liked it! The cheddar mashed potatoes were my husbands favorite side the whole trip!!

We went there once for dinner. We actually had really nice service but horrible meals. We both ordered steak but different kinds and they were both bad. Unevenly cooked, small, gristley, no flavor and tough. I do want to try their breakfast but that's about it.

Our thoughts exactly. Bread and cheddar mashed were very good...the rest of the meal was just okay, and service wasn't so great.

I've had dinner as a solo diner once and really loved it. The crab cakes were actually crab and not bread or filler. The service was very good. We are planning a breakfast there for our November trip. Menu looks great, so hopefully......

On our arrival day for the past couple of years, we have eaten lunch here. My DD loves their fish & chips. Last year I ordered the burger, it was delicious. Our server was extremely friendly and was very attentive. We will be going back this year, and I am looking forward to eating that amazing burger again!!

We had a totally forgettable dinner there on our last visit. I wouldn't say there was anything wrong with it, but the food, service and atmosphere are all very unexceptional.
