Hi all!!! I'm super new to this board and I am so excited to find other people who are obsessed as I am with Disney! So I have been looking on Trip Advisor and some of the reviews of the BC are super negative :worried: I'm going to Disney in August with my husband and parents. Just wondering if I have made the right choice and whether I should change? Biggest complaints on TA is renovations are needed. Any advice? I'm so confused

There is a BC thread you can check out for more info, but we just stayed at BC last month and we LOVED it! My only prior stay onsite was at POFQ prior to their refurbishments and that was quite a disappointment. BC was not in any need of updating as far as I could tell. There were a couple very very mild things I noticed in our room like the sink stopper was starting to discolor/rust and the grout in the bathroom floor was a little darkened but nothing that would make me not want to stay there again.

We had a fabulous trip and if we could afford it in the future would stay at the BC in a heartbeat. It was so close to Epcot and so convenient to HS and the Boardwalk. And just really a beautiful resort all around. The staff was really great as well.

You will love it!

We stayed there last summer and LOVED IT. They just redid the resort rooms not too long ago (now the DVC Villas are different). It was light and fun. The walk to Epcot and DHS is the best ever and Stormalong Bay cannot be beat.

The BC is a beautiful resort and you can't beat being within walking distance to Epcot and DHS. It's been quite awhile since our BC stay so I can't comment on current conditions of the resort, but I would take any and all reviews with a grain of salt. With that said, I would stick with the BC as you won't know if it's a resort for you unless you try it for yourself. Good luck.

Mickeynut how did you create those countdowns?!!! I love that! And thanks for ur info about BC

We stayed there last May and loved the pool and the easy walk to Epcot. What we didn't love was the fecal matter we found on the duvet cover under the little faux quilt at the bottom - ick!

Other than the location, I find BC a little too big for my taste...but everyone is different! Good luck with your decision!

Erika, try going to your user cp page and then on the left click on edit signature. Right below the box you type in(at least thats where it wasfor me) there is a banner that says DISTickers. It takes you through the process. HTH.

What kind of negative reviews. We have stayed there many times. The carpet in the hallways is stained and the walls in the hallway are scuffed up. Those are the only things I have found wrong with the resort. The rooms have been fine. I think Disney resorts are so expensive that people expect a lot more, and maybe they should. You really pay a premium for location. I'm sure the Waldorf is much nicer and probably cheaper, but you can't walk to Epcot from the Waldorf. The BC is a great resort.

The beach club was one of our FAVORITES. We stayed there August of 2008 and loved it. The pool is amazing, the restaurants are great and it is convenient to 2 parks. Nothing was bad about the room. The beds were amazing and are much better than any other resort. Its like sleeping on a marshmallows and jello. We never got better sleep than that.

You're welcome :goodvibes.

I created my tickers at www.myvacationcountdown.com. Once on the home page, click on "vacation countdown" and it walks you through the process of choosing a background, then a slider, then you input your vacation dates. After that, you click on "create ticker" and then you copy and paste the information to your signature. As flamark said, go to your user cp page and click on edit signature to paste the ticker information there ;).

I would like to invite you to check out the Beach & Yacht Club FAQ thread. There's lots of information and pictures on the first page of the thread. You can get there by clicking on the link in my signature.

The resort rooms were renovated in 2008. I believe the carpets in the hallways of the resort are going to be replaced in the "near" future, but I haven't seen any firm dates announced.

I will be staying at the Beach Club in a month, and I have no concerns about the condition of the resort.

We were just at beach club literally two weeks ago, and it was nice. As others have mentioned, negative reviews on upkeep likely due to three factors- 1) people staying at beach club villas, which have a bit of a "lived in" feel, 2) people not used to paying the "Disney" premium, particularly when compared to similarly priced hotels in Orlando not directly on Disney property - as someone else hinted, this is a VERY nice hotel, but will not be the same hotel (in terms of pure hotel amenities, luxury of room, etc) as the Waldorf, and certainly not the Orlando Ritz (although the I think the Ritz is probably a bit more than Beach club, probably priced similar to poly or grand floridian), and 3), you looked at tripadvisor, whose reviewers are notoriously critical of disney, mainly due to factor 2. Tripadvisor is useful tool, but mostly business/frequent travellers who are mainly just grading the hotel in a vacuum (and being objective, maybe that is proper basis for evaluation, but disney is able to get away with giving a premier experience, although the hotels themselves are just very nice).

I would disagree, I don't think renovations are an issue at the BC at all. I would check the date of those reviews, possibly they are old (before the most recent renovations took place). We've stayed there a few times and the rooms seem very fresh to me. :thumbsup2

We LOVE it!!!!!!

For starters, the location can't be beat. It's a few short steps to Epcot. Seriously, it's right down the block, incredibly close by. And the boat to Hollywood Studios was lovely, my kids loved it. For location, I don't think there's a Disney resort that can compare.

Then, of course, we have to talk Stormalong Bay. My middle child bragged to everyone she knew that she was going to a resort where the pool had its own map!!! Disney in August is HOT, and we were thrilled to be able to spend each afternoon at Stormalong Bay.

The resort itself is a delight. We really loved the vibe, from the greeter who met us at the bus to the immense lobby. I'm not sure where you heard that rennovations were needed, we certainly didn't get that feel.

Finally, I need to put in a plug for the CMs. We had a medical crisis the night before we were due to return home. There was talk that my husband would have to be admitted into the hospital overnight (though he was eventually released.) The CMs couldn't have been more helpful. They honestly did everything in their power to help us, and I am eternally in their debt.

We're returning to WDW in summer 2014. I've already emailed our travel agent, and let her know that we'll be returning to the Beach Club!!

We visited BC for dinner at cape may on our last trip and hung out in the lobby for a while. We walked out the back lobby doors to look at crescent lake and I totally fell in love. I had to stay there. Lol

As for trip advisor, they never have anything nice to say. I feel like its a forum for complainers. If you want to get great information about real ppl staying at BC check out the BC/YC thread. Everyone is so nice. Don't feel funny asking questions everyone is nice.

Because of the thread we decided that YC was a better fit for us. Happy reading!

Love it there!!! Thus July will be our 4th stay :). We are doing a split stay this year with Poly ( want to try each resort) because we can't imagine not spending at least part if our vacation at BC!!!

We just returned from CSR, and the whole time there I was wanting the convenience to Epcot that BC offers, the comfortable lobby, the beautiful SAB, and the ease if getting around the resort.

This resort will spoil you!!!

What a pleasure to read this thread! Hubby and I are going to be at BC garden view July 5th and I am so looking forward to SAB as we are just relaxing this time around...it'll be our first visit to BC. How are the garden view rooms? Where are they located in relation to SAB? Any special requests that I should make? Thanks!:)

Thank you so much! I'm def going to join in that thread. Everyone here is also super helpful. I agree that Trip Advisor seems to be a complaint app and everyone here seems to be disney nuts like me. Lol. Anyone going to the beach club this August???
