Hi-

VGT just popped up on the cruise we are going on in 81 days.

For 3 people, we paid $4500.
We could get 2 VGT rooms for $4800.

Would I get a full refund if I cancelled my cruise and rebooked 2 rooms?

Can I do that immediately on the phone with the same DCL person?

Thanks!

Sorry, PIF and start of penalties is at 75 days. So at this point yes you would get a full refund. You can do that on the phone with DCL if you didn't use a TA.

You say you are cruising in 81 days...so are you past the PIF date? If not, there shouldn't be a penalty to cancel. But I don't know that you can just switch what you've paid over to the new reservation (VGT requires a new booking) - you probably have to take a credit refund for the original reservation and PIF now for the new VGT.

I assume your original reservation was for 1 room, and now you want 2 rooms on the VGT for $300 more? The rooms likely will not be near each other and other than being verandahs may not be the same category either.

Enjoy your cruise!

I thought you could cancel a non suite cruise of less than 10 days up to 75 days in advance of the cruise. If they are 81 days out why would they lose the deposit?

Just curious?

You realize that the person sailing solo in one cabin will pay a 200% single supplement, right? I'd put the 3rd person in the same cabin for $784 + taxes instead of the single rate of $2100 + taxes. ($3295.86 total for 3 adults - assuming you are pricing the Sept. 2 Alaska cruise)

We were toying with the idea of getting a second room anyway just to have extra space. Three ladies traveling together- one of us is bound to not like another after 7 days!

We had 3 women in an oceanview cabin for 14 nights for one of the Panama Canal cruise....we made it out alive!!! Really, it was no problem but you know your friends best!!

It was the sept 2 Alaska cruise.

Changed our 5E to a VGT. Had to pay $450 to cancel it, but still saved $900!

I am checking with our TA and we may do the same thing. Since it's a non-US port, does the 120 day cancelation apply? If we would lose our deposit, it may not be worth it. I'll have to see what she says.

OK, you are talking about a cruise that originates outside of the US. I think that the PIF date is 120 days, so you would lose your deposit.

Two college friends and I were on a 14-night Alaska cruise in an oceanview cabin on HAL. The cabin was smaller than DCL's verandah cabins, so I think you'll be fine for a week.
