Can any annual passholders help me out?

Would anyone be kind enough to check if the AKL club level rooms are eligible for the AP discount this July?

For part of our trip next month, we'll be at AKL - Club Level. My DH has been dying to stay there ever since we started going, and so even though we are just using the AAA 10% discount this time, we booked it.

However, it just occurred to me that he or I could upgrade to an AP and that, if the CL rooms are included at 35% off, we might see substantial savings over the course of a 5 night stay.

If anyone could check for me, I would be so grateful!! Thank you!!!

If I recall correctly from when I checked last, they are not. Actually, the only rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge that are available for discount for annual passholders are standard rooms; not even savanna view rooms.

I take that back. They do have a discount, but it is not be 35% annual pass a discount for passholders. It comes out to $403.75 per night.

Yeah, that's probably not worth it. That's pretty much what we're paying now. Oh well--we should have stayed at AKL two years ago when they offered discounts on savanna view rooms. Live and learn!!

Yeah, I am currently paying less at the Polynesian for my trip in July then I would have for a savanna view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I am sure it will still be gorgeous. Honestly, that is probably what I would have picked if the passholder discount had been applicable. :-/ But now I get to stay at my dream resort, the Polynesian!

The last year or two, the big AP discounts at AKL have only been for standard view rooms. You can usually get 5% for CL or savannah view. Sounds like your AAA discount has that beat!

In previous years, the AP discount was good for most room types, but not anymore. We're pretty bummed - we stayed AKL CL in April using a bounceback, which did include 35% off CL or savannah view, and while there booked another bounceback for Oct, but after that we won't be going for a while (APs run out in Oct), so no more discounts for us.

I think that was my longwinded way of saying pretty much the only way to get a good discount on CL or savannah view these days is to book a bounceback!

It seems like only the Epcot resorts get the 35% AP rate these days. WL and AKL are no longer the cheapest resorts because the discounts are so small. I booked AKL CL with the BB offer. I figured this would be a good time to give it try. I'll probably never get 35% off there again unless a book another BB in the future.

I wish we could take advantage of bouncebacks, but we never seem to be able to travel at times when they would be offered. We go in the summer, and the bb offer is only for the rest of the year...can't afford two Disney trips in the same year. If the bb were for the following summer (even if it were earlier in the summer) we would totally do it, but that's not how they work. Oh well!

Unfortunately the bounceback offer has also been changed to reflect what the other discounts offer. The savannah rooms are only given a 5% discount now.

I was at the AKL last week. I had booked a September split stay when the extended summer RO discount was made public on May 09. Four nights at the Poly then three at the AKL savannah view. I was bummed that the discount had dropped from 30 to 20% at the Poly when the summer offer was extended. The discount at the AKL for savannah view was only 5%. So since the AP room rates hadn't been extended past august when I was at the AKL last week, I took advantage of the bounceback offer and was able to change my 20% discount at the Poly to 35% per night. I inquired about my existing reservation at the AKL for my September stay, and was told that even with the bounceback offer, the price of my savannah room would be the same 5% discount that I was already going to pay. I wish it would have been raised from 5% to 35%, but I was told that the 35% rate at the AKL was only for standard or pool rooms through the current bounceback offer...

Bummer that discounts are drying up so much. But as long as people are willing to pay that amount, can't see it changing. Guess Disney will be getting less of my money! Without at least a 35% discount I won't stay deluxe. Good thing I love POR . Swan & Dolphin may be looking better too!

wow. It seems like they just aren't including savanna view or CL rooms in significant discounts anymore (which is why we are just sucking it up this time, since staying there is really important to DH). Don't get me wrong--I'm excited to stay there too!--but I too priced out the Poly (the other deluxe I want to try) and sure, it would be only a standard view room, but it was like $100 cheaper a night (this was the 30% off rate for the summer).

I guess the savanna and CL rooms generally fill without a discount if they don't need to include them in promos. Good for Disney, bad for my wallet!

I had been trying to get an AP rate at the Poly for over a year and finally got one for this summer. But they are getting harder and harder to find on the monorail. I remember when the AP rate at the AKL or WL was $199

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. Guess I'd better enjoy my Oct. stay at AKL, because it may be back to POR for me after that!

I can top that. I once booked a deluxe WL room (the one with the separate bedroom) for $135 per night. Yes, those were the days! And not all that long ago - maybe 11 years ago or so.
