OFFICIAL Disney Cake Chatter Thread - Part III

I have booked a fancy fondant cake for my daughters graduation in August. I have asked for a book shape, vanilla cake, with chocolate fudge cream filling and fondant with stitch hand painted on the cake. I did it all by email with chef Brian very easy.

It seems CM services are extremely inconsistent...this was how the conversation went

me-Hi there, can I please speak to or have contact information for someone at the BWI bakery please? :goodvibes

cm-for what? (seriously?)

me-um, well I need to order a custom cake with fondant and the whole nine yards...who do I speak to about that? :goodvibes

cm- You speak to ME.

me- Oh! Okay well I'd like to know if I can have a peanut butter filling in my fancy cake (dumbo theme/elephants eat peanuts... cute...anyway I digress)

cm- Ummmmmmmm. uh, I can check :scared: wait...wait...wait...

now at this point I'm thinking...If this is the 'go to' person for ordering a cake at the BWI shouldn't she KNOW this stuff off the top of her head???

so she told me yes that's fine they can do peanut butter filling...then I went on with the rest of what was in my first post which was pretty much her tellng me no and I don't know to everything...finally I asked if I can have an email address and she told me...and I quote...

"We do NOT give out email addresses at all. Period."...Here's the thing, I can't very well say 'YOU ARE A LIAR'...then I really won't get my way :rolleyes1 Do I just keep calling until I 'maybe' get someone different? This woman clearly did not want to help me and was even laughing at me like I was an idiot with every request that I had. Obviously based off of this thread alone what I'm asking for is VERY doable

8 inch fancy fondant cake big top circus dumbo themed with vanilla cake peanut butter filling and chocolate buttercream under the fondant...I provide the topper...seems straightforward! That's all I want...I even said, just circusy looking she basically was like "I'm not sure if they'll do that..." how is this the person who takes the cake order? I don't understand if someone is willing to pay $100 for a cake why the run around? IDK..wow this turned into more of a vent then anything :scared: Yikes! I guess I'll try back again some other time...wonder if any other bakeries deliver to BWI? How about...isn't there a bakery in Downtown Disney?

I'm sorry you aren't having luck. Perhaps you could email magickingdomcakes@Disney.com & pretend like you think all orders go through them. Just say at the end "if you are not the bakery to deal with this please forward to the appropriate place & cc me."

First of all thank you so much for trying to give me some tips...so frustrating this should be like a five minute thing and it peppered throughout my whold day...now it's just the point darn it!! I WILL get this cake, somehow, some way...

Ok so I emailed the email address and this is the response:

"Thank you for your interest in Magic Kingdom Cakes! Unfortunately, we can only assist with cake orders for restaurants inside the Magic Kingdom theme park. To order a cake for the Boardwalk, please call the Cake Hotline at 407-827-2253 and select the option for the Boardwalk Resort.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Thank you,"

Did you call the above number or did you call the number for Boardwalk on the first page where lurkyloo details the different offerings? I wonder if that makes a difference?

I have only ever ordered once and it was for CRT so I went through the Contemporary. Do you have a meal that is serviced by either the Contemporary or GF bakeries?

OH MY goodness...I'm embarrassed...I called a different number 'assuming' it was the same number that she emailed me. It wasn't...:scared: I got a guy on the phone who told me YES to everything except shipping them the topper (he said it was due to health reasons or something...:confused3) I'm so glad you let me know that it was a different number...YIPPEEEE...I'll be sure to post pics of my cake (if I can figure out how to :sad2: when I get it!!)

oh and for reference...

Boardwalk Inn bakery
It is an 8 inch fondant covered cake
circus themed
chocolate buttercream
vanilla cake
peanut butter filling
with writing on the cake plate and the cake itself with circus themed decor

quoted $84 Woot!

So glad it all worked out. :)

I apologize if this has been asked and answered here, I'm having a hard time going through the whole thread.

I was lucky enough to get a reservation at BOG for our anniversary, and I would love to order a custom cake to be delivered there, but I don't want the standard options linked in the post in the beginning of this thread.
Are those still the only options if you want something delivered? If they are, I'll probably just not do anything and enjoy the cupcakes at BOG.

There is no guarantee that they will accept the order for a cake being delivered to BOG. You'll need to call and see what you can arrange. Apparently they don't have alot of room for custom cakes in the kitchen. Contact Private Dining at the Contemporary - 407-824-2955

We are spending our daughter's 20th birthday in Disney at The Boardwalk Villas on June 24th. She LOVES Ariel so I thought I would surprise her with an Ariel cake from The Boardwalk Bakery since we are staying there. Does anyone else have some cool ideas?

Thank you so much, I'll call and see what they say.

Don't be embarrassed! I'm so glad it worked out! The cake sounds amazing and I love the idea!

1. Yes, you would call the Contemporary

2. A mini cake would be enough for 3 people but how much you can really theme a mini cake is debatable. A mini cake is generally considered enough for 2. Perhaps a 6 or 8 inch cake would be more suitable, depending on how much you want to spend.

3. I can't see them having any problems with a Wreck it Ralph Cake. The best way is to have a rough idea of what you want and send in a photo where possible.

On a side note - great costumes choices! My sister is going as Vanellope too.

Thanks for the costume compliment!

I wanted to share a general thought on what I was thinking in terms of cake design, then maybe people can advise on what size of cake would work best.

  • I'm imagining a two layer cake obviously.
  • Each layer would be frosted or done in fondant to look like a leg of Vanellope's tights.
  • At the top of the cake, either molded or printed onto white chocolate would be the "You're My Hero" heart.
  • At the bottom would be a Vanellope and Ralph printed on white chocolate.

Is that feasible for a mini cake, or should I go with bigger tiers?

^^^ Love your cake idea. It is what I was imaging when you were describing what you'd like it to look like. I'm sure they will be thrilled to do some "new" characters.

I have a question... Can I get a fondant fancy cake at Rose and Crown. I tried calling twice today and on;y got voice mail. I'm dying to know and think they won't get back to me until tomorrow. I want to order one for my mom's 65th birthday. She loves Tinkerbell. I'm going to ask for the green with flower detail and white chocolate Tinkerbell in the Cake Thread II.
There will be 10 in our party which size cake?

I also want to order a cake for my DD's 7th bday at CRT. Should I order large cake (again 10 in our party) and leave leftovers OR mini cake? This will be her bday celebration. Going to BBB that morning and CRT for lunch then spending the day at MK.

I'm thinking they will steer you toward a bigger cake. :thumbsup2

Yes, Epcot's bakery does fancy cakes now. For 10 people, an 8-inch is plenty.

I'd do a mini cake so you don't have to haul leftovers all over the park or get a locker.

I called Boma today to order the Mickey Mouse cake for $48.
They asked if I wanted buttercream in between the layers.
I stated that it was supposed to come with a chocolate mousse filling.
The CM told me they would probably charge extra for that.
Am I wrong? I thought the cake came with the choc. mousse filling and was frosted with a chocolate ganache.:confused3

:thumbsup2 I think they still steer you toward a larger cake too. For the detailing to really take effect, you will want a larger cake. Maybe 6 or even 8 inch. You'll have leftovers but you can finish the cake off during your trip. :)

They shouldn't charge extra for that - it's a standard filling flavor. The CM probably just isn't aware of that.
