So, we have HH points and AKV points (Aug UY) and just closed on more HH points (Aug UY). I noticed, on the Beaufort County online register of deeds, that they left off our middle initials (which were on the first HH contract we bought). They left them off the deed, but had them on the Disney ROFR waiver (that's also listed on the Beaufort County register of deeds). Will the points still go under our current membership #? If not, I want to fix it so that they do. How do I do that?

Call membership administration and have them check what their paperwork says. They can help you fix it if a mistake was made along the way, you might have to get the title company involved if it was their mistake.

I'd reach out to the closing compnay. They can hopefully correct, and should at their own cost if it's an error.

Will be interesting to see what happens, but I'm pretty sure your deeds have to be identical to ensure single membership.

We left off middle initials on the form that the broker (Shontell) sent us at the beginning of the process...so it is our fault. And we closed on another add on in March and should have remembered that middle initials were used as I asked that broker (different broker that time) if it was deeded the same as our other contract and she replied that she had already double checked and it had our middle initials (just went back and looked at old e-mails). Duh!!! We can have it re-recorded for $10. Uggghhhh!

Member admin said he didn't think the middle initial would matter. But I think we may as well re-record the deed to be sure. We won't be using the points until September, so we have the time.

It's Disney who decides if they will force you to have a second membership. If they say that the middle initial doesn't matter then why bother to change the deed.

There's probably no need to record a corrected deed unless it hasn't been sent in to Disney yet. If it gets sent to them and they make them totally separate, they won't fix it later even if you record again is the info I've seen in the past. Hopefully it works out.

Well, because member admin said he didn't think it would matter...he didn't seem very confident. And he didn't seem to know anything about deeds and closing and whatnot. First thing I said was that "the deed was recorded yesterday and our middle initials were left off, but we used middle initials on our other contracts...". He took my member #, checked address and e-mail and then looked and said "oh, all your contracts are here under this one member #, so it's here". I then reiterated that we just closed yesterday...on a 4th Aug UY contract (he could see the 3 that we already have) and I had to explain that they hadn't loaded this new contract in yet as we just closed yesterday. That's when he said that he didn't think it would matter. Kinda worrisome.

Dean- I just sent e-mail asking broker and closing company not to send anything to Disney until the deed gets re-recorded...hopefully they haven't yet (the closing company did tell me we couldn't re-record until the deed comes back from the county (so I am hoping nothing was sent to Disney yet...it's the one time I want things to have moved slowly).

Good luck and let us know what happens. I'm hoping it works out for you.

Thanks! I hope we get it under current member # as that is why we jumped on this small Aug UY HH contract and it will likely mess us up with booking a trip to HH in August 2014 (we need all of our '13, '14 and '15 points plus we're looking to get a transfer of another 100 points so we can book a 3BR GV...could book some nights with new member # and some with old, but we'd need exact number of points and we couldn't transfer because we'd be already using the transfer to add more points). Maybe a GV is not in the cards.

Broker or closing company didn't respond to my e-mail about not sending our contract to Disney (I sent evening of 6/6). Today, a letter arrived from closing company, dated 6/5, that said we closed and our contract was sent to Disney to transfer. And we'll get the deed back from the county in 6-8 weeks (or something like that). I now kind of hope they did send it so we won't have to wait 6-8 weeks to re-record the deed. S....I...G...H!!!! If it has been sent to Disney, there will be no need to re-record the deed.

We have something similar. We just closed on a VB contract and I have been checking the Indian River County clerk office to see when the deed transfer shows up. Well it showed up today and it shows the transfer from the previous owner to our names correctly but then there is an entry that shows Disney to us and my husbands name is incorrect - it says Rich but it should be Rick - I'm not sure if this is going to be an issue or not - and I'm also not sure how it ended up incorrect since the entry directly above it's correct.

Someone at DVD/DVC knows the policy and they also know what affect the middle initial will have on how your accounts will be set up. You need to escalate to find that person. There are many players at DVD/DVC and like all companies, some know what's going on and others don't. Explain to them that you need a manager to make a decision on what will happen when your account is loaded with the new contract, and you need the your account noted as such. Get names and dates of who you talked to.

We have had a couple of contract load errors, incorrect title being issued and a new account being set up when it should not have been. All of these issues were corrected by getting to the right people.

Disney doesn't want to cause problems but sometime they are too big and the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Thanks Bill! I just called and member admin are only open Mon-Fri 9-5. I left message, but will call again on Monday. And, Disneysled, you should call as well. You might have to do some paperwork to get your DH's name fixed, but if this was your 1st contract I don't think it will affect access to your points timeline...but I am not sure. I hope it's a minor fix for you.
