Do you use Viggle?

I heard about Viggle awhile back but never looked into it. I had seen a few ppl mention it in the past and just got interested in it recently. So I downloaded the app and have been trying it out but am trying to figure it out.

Someone a few days ago posted that they had gotten a Kindle Fire as a reward after 6 months of using Viggle. Then I checked the rewards and saw the Kindle Fire is 450,000 points. Unless someone is watching TV 24 hours a day with no sleep you can't get 450,000 points in 6 months unless there are some massive bonuses that I don't know about.

To get to my question...are there extra things you can do to get points besides just watching TV? And if so, where on the app would I find those things?

How many points have you been able to accumulate?

And tips or hints for me on how best to use the app?

Edited to add: Once you check in can you do other functions on your phone or do you have to have the phone solely devoted to Viggle to get the points?

Yes I giggle. The key to getting more points is to look for shows with the "play along" feature. Basically asking questions getting points throughout a show. also the shows with bonus points. For example I think I earned 1000 points during the academy awards. I remember you got 300 bonus for watching.

So far though I have only gotten 2 Sephora gift cards $25 at outback when I first started and a couple other gift cards.

How do you go about finding the shows that have the play along feature? Would they be under What's On?

Yes under the shows. Sometimes they have commercials to watch for points. Also some sign up bonus for things like direct tv which could have bumped their points way up.

And silly iPad it's Viggle not giggle

LOL @ giggle. I wasn't sure if that was on purpose or auto correct!

I saw someone post something one time about playing little games on Viggle for points but I cannot find anything like that. All I see across the top is CHECK IN, WHAT'S ON, REWARDS AND CHATTER.

Sorry about so many questions. I know it is super early. I did a search on these boards for keyword Viggle and only a very few threads came up and they were old. Not much info available and the app itself isn't very helpful at teaching you how best to use it.

I do know from reading those threads that Viggle is not near as good as it use to be. They don't award as many points and the rewards cost more points now. I should have started Viggle back when I first heard about it. I am always late to the party.

Go to What's on
Then Featured

It will give you shows with bonus points just for checking in. Tonight I see Amercas baking challenge has a bonus play along feature.

Yes it used to be much more generous. But still free is free so if the ad is nearby I'll check in.

Sporting events are good ones too. Gosh the Superbowl was a huge point generator for me.

I set a reminder for it to remind me to check in during Hannibal because there is a 50 point bonus. I wonder how it reminds you. If an alarm goes off on the phone or if it is just a memo.

I can't figure out, if I check in, then go to my text messages and send some texts, if it is still giving me points for the show or if the phone has to be left on Viggle for it to give you points.

When I first downloaded it yesterday there was some kind of trivia thing going on but I was not able to play it right away and by the time I got back to my phone it was gone.

I do ok with it. A few Sephora gift cards which are always appreciated! I boosted mine a bit during basketball playing My Guy. I won that a few times and that was a 1,000 points.

None of us ever watch sports so that probably won't be a good point getter for me.

It seems too simple. Like I must be missing something.

I googled and found a few bits and pieces of info here and there and it did say that you can watch recorded shows for up to 7 days and still get points for it but no bonus points for it unless you watch it by 8 am the next morning.

Another bit I just found said you can check in then do other tasks on your phone and still get points but I am not sure if that is true. This was someone's blog I found that on, not an official Viggle or DirecTv website.

Oh yes. Check into your show and then go about your business. Check your other apps, your mail etc.

OK cool. That makes it less burdensome if you can do other tasks on your phone while you are watching with Viggle.

Thanks guys for all the information. If anybody has anything else to share that you think would be helpful please share.

I JUST got Viggle a couple of days ago, so I'm a newbie and just figuring it out. I'm here for the information!! ;)

Question, and I'm sorry if it's already been answered. Do you have to watch a show live in order to use Viggle? I watch pretty much everything on my DVR, so I hope that's not the case

You can get points for DVR'd shows if they were recorded in the last 7 days. If there are any BONUS points associated with that show the show has to be watched by 8 am the next morning to get the bonus points.

I read this on a Viggle FAQ page I found.

Also I have tested it out this morning and you can do other tasks on your phone while watching with Viggle and it still keeps giving you points for the whole show.

Something else too...it has given me 10 bonus points 4 different times just this morning for watching the same IAMS dog food ad.

I also learned you only get credit for 12 hours of viewing time each day and you have to keep up with your viewing minutes/points yourself to know when you have reached your limit. You can still get ad points and bonus points after you have reached your limit for the day.

I have been learning these things from googling and also from some ppl on Twitter who also use Viggle. You can follow @ViggleTips on Twitter and ask them questions.

Be careful with watching the same thing over and over. They wanted to ban me for that. When I complained they kept sending it to me for points. They allowed that one time but if I do it again I am banned. Meanwhile it was their failure that allowed that to happen

OK that's good to know. I will back off watching the same ad over and over. It hasn't shown back up yet. It did four times though.

Yeah they've been working on fixing that problem for a year now!

I'm watching regular TV in real time right now and watching out for that McDonald's McCafe commercial for 200 bonus points. I usually fast forward through commercials or ignore them so I am having to actually pay attention to the commercials.

That bonus is only good until June 9th.

I used to use Viggle starting a few months after it launched and racked up several hundred dollars in gift cards over the first year. Then they completely changed everything. Some people say it's still "free" money - not to me. My time is valuable in its own right. I'm not going to spend 10 minutes watching commercials to find an ad worth 10 cents. I could check-in to a few long running shows each day, but to me that's still not worth the time/mental energy to have to keep thinking about it for the $1 those points are worth when converted to gift cards.

That said, there still are a lot of people continuing to do it. If you really want to invest the time into how to do it well, there's a huge thread on slickdeals.net. They are experts over there. They also compile all of the daily bonus shows, answers to quizzes, etc.
