B&P's VR 11/10/2012 UK/AAP/UKDP Day 1 Arrival & Epcot 6/10

Bethie it was so awesome meeting you! Can't wait to see the pictures from the VR and the entire trip! Thanks for shouting Hi at the DP!!!!

Dee!!!

It was so awesome to meet you finally! Hope you had a fabulous DP and rest of your trip. Thanks for all the support throughout this whole thing. :lovestruc

YAY! I am so excited that you have started, can't wait for more!

Hey Bethie! I know it's tough coming back right into Thanksgiving, then into Christmas, but.... I'm having withdrawls. I need some Bethie and Paulie VR info. :rotfl2:

Seriously, Merry Christmas! I hope all is well.

All of your pics I've seen so far are amazing!! Seriously, gorgeous. I'm blown away by how beautiful you looked - the dress, the flowers, everything seems like it was perfect!

I'm so excited to see more!!

Hope you had a great holiday season and are recovering from all the hustle-bustle!

Hi Bethie! I hope all is well with you guys. Hope the holidays were enjoyable & the New Year is only filled with glorious things!

Hey everyone,

Sorry I have been MIA and not updated this at all. Between a really bad case of the shingles over the holidays and the holidays themselves, plus some other stuff, I am finally digging myself out. I was also waiting for all the pics to come in.

I hope to have the TR started by the end of the week. I really do want to tell everyone about our events and our trip, since they were so amazing.

Hope eveyryone is having a great New Year so far.

Bethie, I am so sorry to hear you have been struggling. I saw the effects of shingles in my mom. Glad things are getting a little better. Looking forward to hearing all your wonderful trip adventures!

Well, it's been forever and I did drop off the face of the earth, but I am back now. I hope it's not too late to do my TR, since we really had a fabulous time. Our trip seems like a lifetime ago and given anything that this year has thrown us, I wish that we had this to still look forward to. Things have evened out a bit, so hopefully the summer is a bit easier.

Also, the Bruins did really well in 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs, whenever I posted an update, so hoping for the same luck with year.

I have decided to start with my non-Disney vendor reviews. As a disclaimer, we got really lucky with all of our vendors and we wouldn't have changed a thing.

Vendor Reviews – Non-Disney

Impressions: Shelley was amazing to work with and her designs were extraordinary. She is expensive, without question, but worth double the price. She took our theme of Rockin’ All Over the World and found ways to incorporate it everywhere, even in places we hadn’t given any thought to. She used the sheet music from our first dance song “Thunder Road” on so many items (programs, table signs, petal cones and more, I think) and it was a fabulous little touch. Shelley worked in all of my DIY projects without hesitation. She became a sounding board for all things VR related and not-so-related. 10/10

Ever After Printables: Wendy was great to work with as well. Her designs were exactly what I wanted for each of our extra events. She modified some of her existing designs and she created a bunch just for us, including new formats (our pin cards). Between my DIY gene (which emerged through all of this), and Wendy’s attention to detail all of our menus, table names, place cards, escort cards and pin cards for everything but our reception were beautiful. She also designed stuff for our welcome folders, reception and extra items for me. 10/10

Everything Bling LLC: Amanda did a lot of items for me – handkerchiefs, crystal transfers and embroidered items, even putting crystals all over my shoes! Everything was exquisite! Since I don’t iron, Amanda really went the extra mile for me and even ironed on the transfers to the shirts that I had sent her. I was so happy with everything and so were the Fairy Godchildren who also got a lot of Amanda’s items. She was a delight to work with and even delivered my items to the resort when we arrived. 10/10

Onsite Beauty: I booked Janet Mednick for our vow renewal about 16 months before our event. She and I connected instantly over the phone, which made me very excited about working with her. She came to my resort in April, when we down for our PS, and I could not have been more delighted. We clicked in person just as we had over the phone. I loved the way that I looked and really enjoyed my time with her. For our event, she actually came to the resort 3 times to (welcome dinner, vow renewal day, and MK and Epcot shoot) make me gorgeous. I thoroughly enjoyed spending all that time with her. I have already booked her for another event when we go back in September. 10/10

Carolyn Allen’s: We used CA’s for both my items and to rent a tux for Paul. Very easy and nice people to work with. All the dresses were perfect and Paul’s tux was just right. They delivered everything to the resort on time and also picked everything up after our MK and Epcot shoot. They also cleaned my dress and shipped them back to Boston for us. 10/10

Regina Hyman Photography: What can I say about Regina. She is beyond amazing. She photographed my bridal tea, our welcome dinner and a bridal resort shoot after we did MK and Epcot. We love every single photo she took. They are all beautiful. She is an unbelievably sweet person and so easy to work with. She loves doing what she does and the couples she works with. 10plus/10

More to come....including more photos.

I was just thinking about you the other day. Happy you are back. Hopefully things will become easier for you in the near future.

GO BRUINS!!

Interesting info about the outside vendors. Will have to keep these vendors in mind incase I need them in the future. :)

Bethie, I LOATHE hockey, but I will actively root for the Bruins if it will get you to post! I have been sad that you haven't posted details - and worried about you, too! Shingles is no joke! I look forward to reading about it ALL!

Jaime

So glad you're feeling better! It's never too late to do a TR!! We look forward to it.

Isn't Shelley from Impressions fantastic?! She is truly gifted. Amanda is really great too, they're both so sweet and knowledgable. I love that I get a quick response from them when I have a question. I am so glad we decided to go with them. I'm also happy to know that Carolyn Allen's is getting rave reviews. I plan on using them for mine and my bridesmaid's dresses.

Thanks for the review and I look forward to more and seeing pics!!

Hey Dee,

Glad to see you are still reading along, even if I haven't been posting much. I read your TR from the November trip and loved the part about the DP. Sorry you had so much trouble with yours. Ours had a snag, which I will get to, but overall it was fantastic.

GO BRUINS! We were at Game 7 against Toronto, where they came back from 4-1 to win in OT. It was amazing. We also went to 2 wins against the Rangers, including the clinching Game 5. We have tickets for this Friday against the Penguins. We also have tickets for the Sox that night, but Bruins come first. :goodvibes

We loved our outside vendors and will most likely be using them again. :rolleyes1 We have 2 other shoots with Regina already booked in the next couple of years. We love her!

Hi Jamie,

Thanks for rooting for the Bruins. It seems to be working! :rotfl: Thanks for worrying. It was my second time on the shingles and it was much worse this time around. Wouldn't wish them on anyone. More updates will be coming soon, I promise.

I love Shelley (and Amanda too!). Everything she did for us was amazing. Carolyn Allen's was great too. Everything was perfect with them.

More pics coming soon!!

The week leading up to leaving for Florida was naturally quite hectic, but since I had been organized the whole way along it was too stressful.

About 10 days before we left, we packed up all the welcome bags and bins to be shipped down to Disney. I think we ended up shipping 7 huge boxes. We used FedEx Ground and cost wasn't too bad at all.

Here are some photos of the welcome bag assembly process:

These were the custom t-shirts we had designed for our guests. They were in the welcome bags. I tied them with ribbon and had a Mickey head tag with each person's name on it.

These were the Savor the Flavor bags we made. Everyone loved them!

The week before we left was the week that Superstorm Sandy hit the Northeast. While most of our guests, who live in the affected areas, did not have any problems getting down to our event the following weekend, we did have a guest list casualty at the very last minute, my brother and sister-in-law.

I had a feeling something was up with them after the storm, but didn't hear anything official until Sunday night, the night before we were leaving. I had kept telling my SIL that since we had the 2 bedroom villa that if there was anything they wanted from the grocery or liquor store to let me know before Tuesday night, since we were shopping on Wednesday. I mentioned it for months, got promises of a list, but no list. The storm hit them fairly lightly, they had no damage to the house, but lost their power. They managed to find a hotel, so they were much better off than a lot of people in their area. I sent a couple of texts checking up on them and reminding them of the shopping trip before we left, but got no response.

We were finishing up last minute stuff Sunday night, when the phone rang with their number on the Caller ID. My brother started off the conversation telling me all about what they were going through, which wasn't that terrible, IMO. He then blurted out "you know we aren't coming, right"? I was floored. He went on to tell me that the money they were going to spend at Disney was being eaten up by the hotel in NJ. He was spending PRACTICALLY NOTHING to go to Disney. We had used our DVC points for a room for all of us, his airfare was paid for, they weren't going into the parks and with all of our events most of their food was covered as well. All they were paying for was their bar bill, which knowing them could be big, but still. He then went on to complain that he didn't think they could use the airfare up before they had to. REALLY?????

After being pissed for a while, I realized that we were free of our most time sucking and potential problem guests. We had had to talk to close friends about making sure they always had company and made them comfortable. It also gave us the whole villa to get ready in on the day of the VR and it would lower our bar bill at the end. I was upset about wasting our points for those 5 nights, since we had to pay cash for the rest of our stay. It worked out in the end, but it is still something that irritated both of us.

We moved past the brother issue, finished last minute stuff and got ready for bed. The next morning we had an early flight. Next stop Disney World....

:cheer2: yay you are back with us AND posting TR stuff!!! :cheer2:
You guys look so organized with those bags. The Tshirts - still LOVE them! Love the candy idea. That stinks about your brother & SIL. Seems that always happens. One couple or two find a reason to back out. Some look harder than others. But, like you said, gave you both more privacy & less worries, which is always a good thing.

oh yeah, almost forgot...

GO BRUINS

I am so jealous you were at THOSE games. And I am not usually a hockey fan. But to be there, that must have been insane!!!

I love the "savor the Flavor" bags! How cute!

You know, I am really impressed with your attitude regarding your Brother's no show. Not everyone can dust themselves off like that, so kudos to you.

And....

GO BRUINS! :cheer2:

:cool1: Since it is 12:27am on Thursday morning, right after The B's won #3, I can say....HAVE A BLAST tomorrow night! Fingers crossed you see the sweep!!!
