Official 2012/2013 Disney Military Promotion - Updated Post #187

I just read through this thread and want to verify something. I am the spouse of the military member. I have my dependent ID. I am going to Disney with my best friend. Can I buy the AFS 4 day hoppers for both of us?

DH will not be with us on the trip but it looks like only I need to be there, correct?

Thanks!! :goodvibes

Yes, as a military spouse, I activated mine and my kids without spouse. No issues with me buying the tickets either. Just showed my dependent ID and when we went to WDW last year, the Disney ticket office asked for my kids info when I activated the tickets.

We have been annual pass holders for a couple of years so haven't been able to use the AFS tickets. I am not getting new AP's until next year so now is the perfect time to use these great tickets! :thumbsup2

I was curious if you could book FD (paying rack rates for room and buying the minimum 2 day ticket). Then can you take that 2 day ticket and upgrade it to the Military Salute ticket with Hopper & WaterPark access?

If I did the math correctly, here's what I came up with

2 Day Regular Ticket - $176 + tax
4 Day Salute w/Hopper & WP - $186 + tax

Can I pay the $8 price difference and upgrade from the 2 day to the Salute?

If so, do I need to use the ticket 1st and upgrade at Guest Services inside the park or can I do it prior to use at DTD?

CF or others, I have read the Ticket Sticky about upgrading and didn't see anything that seems to prevent this transaction as there is a cash transaction involved, but didn't know if there were exclusions regarding either FD tickets and/or Salute tickets.

Yes. This can be done. Just be sure to use the ticket prior to upgrade.

CF: I was thinking that last time we were planning to upgrade MS tickets, we *could not* use them first, they had to just be exchanged. Did this change?

Just curious, as I remember adding into my travel notes that we had to do the exchange on arrival at a park, not wait to do it later.

Just wondering as we want to do 5 park days. We want to do the 4 day park hoppers and are thinking of just buying a 1 day ticket. Can we get a discounted 1 day ticket through base??? and if so how much is that ? or do we just have to pay the standard Disney price? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We are National Guard and not close to a base so I figured I would ask here first before we drive to base.

You can buy one day tickets with a slight military discount at Base ITTs, if they carry them, some bases only cary a limited supply and have to order those they don't stock. You can also get them at Shades of Green and the Orlando ITT.

1-Day non-hoppers are $92 adult/$86 child (3-9)
1-Day hoppers are $128/$122

Have you thought of getting the 4-Day Disney Armed Forces Salute ticket with both the hopper and Water Park and More options? They are $184 all ages ($28 more than just the hopper). You could use the WPF&M entrances on a fifth day to do a water park mini golf and Disney Quest.

Does anyone know if they take your picture before first use at disneyland for the military salute tickets? I don't mind, just trying to plan for time on our first day. With always having picture ID and having to show it to activate them first I didn't know if they were still going to do that.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I thought maybe you'd be able to set me in the right direction if nothing else. :)

Is there a military discount at the Disney resort at Hilton Head? I would call and ask, but I get no reception on my phone at home....love military housing....

Any help would be appreciated!! :beach:

Ok Im confused! We can add the military salute tickets on to our ticket we bought for our dining package? is it cheaper to have a 6 day park hopper or add the salute tickets and an extra day on to equal 6 days total? also can the military salute tickets be purchased at guest relations at DTD? Thank you so much! This thread is awesome!!!

1. The Armed Forces Salute tickets cannot be added to a room key and they cannot do anything with the AFS ticket at a Resort..

2. I really don't fully understand this question. The AFS ticket is $156. A two day hopper is $233. A six day hopper is $335. Read Post #1 of this thread carefully for more information.

3. Yes.

ok that's what I thought! Sorry I was kinda confused by the question at the top of the page. I think I was reading it wrong! Thank you for the quick clarification!!:goodvibes

I read through this entire thread and Im sure my question has been answered or I should be able to piece it together myself but.... all this info is jumbled in my head ;)

In Jan my family of 5 used the 4 day mil tickets. My best friend and I will be planning a quick trip sometimes this summer. I know I can buy 1 more ticket from Disney. Can I buy and use this last ticket for my friend?
I plan to buy a season pass from SOG at the same time b/c my family and I will be back for a long trip in Oct/Nov.

Yes, I am pretty sure you'll be able to. What I would do is get the AP and Salute tickets from SOG first, then activate them both at the same time. That way the CM will see that you have the AP and that you've activated the other tickets earlier in the year, and that one of them did go to the servicemember.

Yes. This can be done. Just be sure to use the ticket prior to upgrade.

Cheshire Figment...can you double check my math for me?

Wilderness Lodge during free dining for a military family. 2A, 2C (1 infant)
rack rate + free dining + 2 day base tickets = $3215. They use one day and then "upgrade" to the AFS tickets by adding $8 per adult ticket and $20 per child ticket. Total= $3271

Is that right?

Yes, but you will have to upgrade to the AFS tickets with both Hopping and WPF&M.

The AFS ticket for either hopping or WPF&M is $156. The ticket with both is $184.

A two-day MYW base ticket is $176 adult and $164 child.

By definition an upgrade is taking one ticket and adding cash (or similar) and ending up with one ticket with more entitlements.
