Ditching BC for POP

Just arrived back from my first solo trip to WDW and had a great time at POP. I loved the music, the pool, and the bus service. Now my dilemma is I have the BC club level booked for end of September and am thinking about switching to POP. I went and toured the beach club and it seemed too laid back and quiet for my DH and I. Also I have heard the CL Lounge is super small. Opinions, thoughts would be much appreciated!!

I do love POP! :goodvibes

Have not stayed at BC CL, but have stayed at YC CL, which I usually see better reviews for, and I would say that I don't plan on getting CL at YC again, and wouldn't get it at BC if we ever stayed there...

You cannot beat the location of those Epcot resorts though, and if you are going for Food & Wine, that's an obvious consideration...

My BFF and I are staying at AOA for our Food & Wine trip, but that's just us. Between F&W and the MNSSHP, we are not going to be in the room alot at all.

I think that if you like POP, you should give it some serious consideration. :goodvibes

It looks like you are planning to be at the BC during the F&W event. It is extremely convenient to be steps away from the World Showcase during that festival. You could always drop the club level room if you want to save some money.

But if you loved POP then you might as well stay there. :)

You sure will save some $ if you switch to POP! I loved BC CL and did find it to be a little small. I didn't find it to be laid back though! Stormalong Bay is so fun and walking right into Epcot are awesome features. Maybe do a split stay - start at BC and end at POP? Every resort is meant for a different person so what is right for one person might not be right for you! Have fun debating! :goodvibes

Thanks guys, I still have some months to think this over. I know my resort selection with the military salute discount is going to tight as well. Going to keep my BC ressie for now as soon as I drop it I probably won't be able to get it back.

I loved staying at BCV, and to be so close to EPCOT during Food and Wine? Priceless. Plus you have all the lively activities on the Boardwalk as well. While I like Pop, I LOVED BC.

I've stayed at Pop twice, both times with other people. For me, it's pretty cramped quarters for more than one person. I might stay there solo, but I won't stay there again with even one other person. I like the size of the deluxe rooms....I hate feeling cramped, even if we aren't in the room a lot. Could you keep BC and skip the expense of CL? That might be a good compromise if your goal is to save some money.

Yeah, I'm wondering this too. If the value of CL is your main concern, you can save a nice amount of money by dropping CL and just booking a regular room at the BC. I don't know what your discount is, but based on the listed rates, the difference between a regular room and a CL room is about $120-140 a night (based on the view; essentially the nicer the view, the smaller the difference in price it is). The BC is certainly more laid-back and quiet than the Pop, but its not totally dead either. Stormalong Bay is practically a waterpark and is always bustling, the character meals at Cape May in the lobby are always active. Finally, you have the Boardwalk across the lake with games, clubs, restaurants, and other activities. I would probably drop CL and stick with the BC.

If you're looking for something between the energy at Pop and the laid-back atmosphere of BC, but still want a deluxe resort and that amazing proximity to Epcot, you might consider BWI! We love BC - especially when we plan to spend a good amount of time at the pool, and if we're not staying CL because BC Marketplace is one of our favorite CS locations for a quick breakfast. But we also love BWI and the club lounge at BWI is wonderful. CMs are some of the best at Disney, and the lounge itself is very comfortable with high ceilings and large windows. You might enjoy the activity out on the Boardwalk, especially if you book standard CL and request a boardwalk view. I think it's one of the best values on Disney property!

Beach Club is a MAJOR step up from POP. The pool is great & easy access to the Boardwalk. During the Wine & Food festival, it's one of the hardest resorts to score a room. We've been wait listed :confused3 for the BCV for 3 months, heading down in October.
But if you think the POP is more to your liking by all means stay there.

We have stayed at BC CL and many others. We would highly recommend BC CL. The lounge was expanded and it is now about the size of two rooms. Not counting the CM area. Every CL has its busy time (hour) and BC is not different. The lounge staff were always great, always getting items not out without question or delay. The resort is in a Great Location that I would recommend park hoppers to be able to take advantage of Epcot and DHS. The club is very convenient for a day or 1/2 day at SAB. It is also ideal if you get CS food and take it back for lunch in the lounge. If you like Epcot this can provide you a great experience.

We HATED BC CL! We stayed last Sept & the lounge is very small with just a few tables, our room was no kidding waaaaaaaaay down the hall & the carpets were worn & stained(hall) our room was NOT cleaned so we requested it to be cleaned came back 11 hours later it was never done, balcony had trash & was COVERED in spider webs! Obviously not cleaned in awhile!
Manager got rude with DH when he spoke with her about that!
Stayed Poly CL & GF CL about 3 times & those experiences were nothing short if amazing!!

We are trying BWI this sept

ASMU/POR Dec 16-22, 2012 & BWI Sept 8-15, 2013

We LOVED the BC!!!! CL isn't in our budget, and, as a family of 5, POP isn't possible, but we LOVED the BC!! We loved Stormalong Bay, the convenience of being steps from Epcot, and the entire vibe of the resort.

And the CMS at the BC were incredibly gracious and helpful when my husband ended up in the ER on our last night.

But if you're really not sure, why not take a look at the BWI, the Poly (it's amazing!!!!) or the WL???

Sorry to hear about you BC CL experience. I think every resort has its stories of excellence and nightmares. BWI is very nice too in our experiences and is a lot quieter than many of the other deluxes when it comes to foot traffic.

I once switched from the Beach Club to the All Star Music. If it feels right to you to switch to the Pop, go for it!

BC club level with 40% off salute discount? Keep those reservations and have the time of your life. I see that Hotel area as fun and busy. Beaches and cream has the best ice cream in the world:)

interesting- we did not enjoy Pop- too loud, too spread out. We loved BCV but it is very busy especially pool, location is wonderful.

Although BC CL is my least favorite club level at WDW or any other club I've tried but I would still keep it for Food & Wine.

I just returned from my first deluxe stay and was CL at BC. I agree with others for location it's awesome and during food and wine I would definitely choose it if on my budget. I thought CL was well worth it for us. We did breakfast there every morning and as our room was only 2 doors down from the lounge we popped in a lot on our way in and out for drinks and snacks and made dinner out of apps a couple nights too. We loved the staff in the lounge. Very friendly and helpful.

I am considering a stay at POP for a short trip with just me and my 4 year old but with the whole family if in our budget we'd choose BC again in a heartbeat. The beach and the boardwalk at night and the proximity to parks is well worth it.
