We leave on Saturday! :) Can't wait.

Can I bring my son's puddle jumper? Or do we have to use the life jackets provided at the pool? I can't remember if puddle jumpers were allowed or not. But, he would prefer to use his own instead of a lifevest at the pool.

I'm at work now and I get off at 7am. My wife took off friday so we are able to leave earlier. We plan to hit the road around lunch time! My wife will drive so I can get a couple hours of "sleep".

Don't let her put any of your stuff in jello while you sleep!

Ok RECENT GUESTS:mic: , I have not stayed at POP since September of 2009!!! I'm hearing some roach/gross bug reports??!!! I have to say I' am shocked :confused3 since the 3x I have stayed at POP it's been immaculate (and I'm tough to please since I clean :laundy: for a living.) PLEASE tell me, has it changed that much in the last 4 years?? How would all of you recent guests rate :teacher: the over all cleanliness of the rooms?? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!! Thanks in Advance!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hi I'm so sorry to hear about this, do you remember which section you stayed in? 50's 60's 70's?
We just returned from 10 days at Pop in room 9120. I am sad to say that we had a cockroach sighting as well as several dead bugs in the bathroom that were there when we checked in. I called to report, they said they would send someone to check on the roach situation in the morning. It was late, I had just unpacked. I said fine. Well they sent someone at around midnight. So good for them for sending someone faster, but annoying at the same time because we were getting in bed when he knocked on the door. They also said they would have housekeeping do a thorough cleaning. I cleaned up the dead bugs in the bathtub myself, but left the bathroom floor to be swept/mopped or whatever they would do to clean it. Went to a park the next morning and came home to the same dead bugs on the floor. Ended up doing the cleaning myself, since obviously it was not going to be done by the resort staff as promised!

We have stayed at Pop before and really enjoyed it, but this stay was just not the same. The dirtiness of the room was one issue, and dealing with a very rude CM at Everything POP! was another. We did have good times, however. Enjoyed doing the twist in the morning with the food service CM's and the cashiers/sales floor cm's in the gift shop were always very pleasant and my dd loved pin trading with them.

Computer pool was quiet, cool and refreshing. Hippy Dippy pool was busy but fun. Breakfasts at Everything Pop were good (I mean..hello, Mickey Waffles, it's hard to go wrong!). Bus situation varied from decent to downright unacceptable, but that seems to be the same almost across the board, so it's not a Pop issue, but a transportation issue. Walk over to AoA was a quick one, and we actually took an AoA bus home one time because it seemed like a better idea than waiting for a Pop bus. AoA had a great menu and it's a nice option "for a change" if you are hanging out at your own resort and not quite sure where to head for a CS meal, but the dining areas were LOUD and there were lots of kids running around in swim suits or less (saw kids in diapers), so if that is off putting then I wouldn't recommend going during prime lunch or dinner times. I actually liked the standard french fries that Pop serves over the house seasoned fries at AoA. The seasoning was nice, but very overpowering after a few bites. I commented that they were dieter friendly fries because you won't want more than a handful :)

I might consider staying at Pop again, but next year we will give another resort a try.

That's too bad ... was the times it was closed late in the evening? I know that POP usually only has one drink station when we have returned from the parks.

No, even in the afternoon that was station would be closed off. We were always checking and after that first day when I was able to get some at lunch time, we never did find it open again.

Not to hijack but Merobobear said they stayed in room 9120...so that would be in the 80's/90's section (bldg 9). The first digit is the bldg #, the second digit is the floor, and the last two are your room # in that bldg.
The 50's section is made up of bldgs 1, 2 & 3. The 60's is bldgs 4 & 5. The 70's is bldgs 6 &10. and finally the 80's & 90's are bldgs 7, 8 & 9. I am "guessing" if they broke the 80's and 90's apart...bldgs 7 & 9 would be the 80's and bldg 8 would be the 90's. That would be my educated guess if they broke them apart.

Yes, more info please! Having major second thoughts about staying at pop since I read that...

I agree with both you ladies about cleanliness anxiety. I am kinda picky as well. But I have kind of just realized that the roach sightings do not seem to be just at Pop.... if you search around on dis many resorts including deluxes have had roaches in the rooms sadly :( I just plan on letting a CM know in person if something is not ok with the room (bugs, dirt, trash etc). I truly believe Disney will make it right esp if you are sure to make them overly aware of what the problem is and how you want it solved within reason of course! :goodvibes

Living in FL bugs are just part of the atmosphere. Unfortunately including roaches. And like the PP said it happens at all the resorts. There have been sightings every where. I think Disney has done very well with responding and handling the issue. Like I have learned on here never unpack or settle in your room til you have inspected it. That way its easier to handle and move if need be.

We will be leaving today around 4pm for our two hr drive to check into POP. Kids are excited and so is mom and dad. It will be our first time staying here or even on site.

Only place we have had bug issues is CSR. Nasty nasty ones. We asked to be moved (to Pop), but there was no room, so they moved us to a suite at CSR. We had some nasty bugs on our balcony at AKL, but it's FL. They live there. I was just visiting.

I wouldn't worry about the bugs, If they are in your room, call and have them removed or have yourself moved. Nothing to get worked up about prior to going. You will find them at EVERY resort in every room at one time or another. So moving from Pop will not eliminate the possibility that you will run into them.

I have stayed at Pop countless times...never an issue with bugs, dirty rooms, etc.

We were at POP last July 2 different rooms on 2 legs of our trip and neither time did we run into any bugs. The rooms were nice and clean. :)

You are correct. The 80's buildings are 7 and 9 and the one 90's themed building is number 8.

hey all!

Well we just got back from our trip! What a great time :)
Where are some of my random thoughts. I plan on doing a trip report for the whole trip with photos. Once that's started I'll include the link in my signature.

Arrived at POP at May 15 at about 1230pm.
Check in was very quick and efficient. I was in building 1, 4th floor.
I had requested 50's section and close to transportation. So that worked for us.
We ended up having to switch rooms late our on first night (to read about that check out my post #2769 on page 185). That room was just as nice as the first. Perhaps better.. lol something about the beds being on the left side of the room that just seems more natural for us. Not sure why.
We did swim the first day before heading to MK. The bowling pin pool was perfect like I thought. Lots of stairs for the boys to play in that area. Since after a few feet it's too deep for them to really "play" Nice and quiet just how I like it. I'm glad we didn't end up staying near the Hippy Dippy Pool. It was generally busy, and that would have been too much for us. We ended up using the pool I think 3 times during our trip. Including the last day when we swam in the rain :)

Weather the first 4 days was SUPER hot. by 1030 it was 100 degrees. It was not this hot last year when we went.

We ate in the Pop Food Court a few different times. Food was good. Make your own tacos was great (4 of them!) Easy to split with my oldest child. The ice cream sandwhiches were AMAZING there. Better than Hollywood Scoops at HS. Mom was able to get the glueten free foods she needed with no problems. Only frustration for her... Wanting coffee to take to the park, but not wanting to take the mug to the park. (The first day she did this and the stroller tipped over and got coffee all over everything). CM's would give her a cup if she wanted to fill her MUG and then pour it into the cup. But it was just frustrating to make the trek back to the room to return the mug. And she isn't a morning person to go out and do this first thing. I tried to be helpful but found it annoying since I don't drink coffee at all! LOL And buying it at the park was pointless since you can't take it on any of the rides. Anyway, she dealt with it, but I know it irked her.

Gift shop was great. CM's were always helpful and nice. As was front desk and conceirge. I made all these great plans before leaving home, and we ended up switching days at parks and had to cancel several ADR's and book new ones. So much for all my hard work planning. LOL

The housekeeping MANAGER in our building of POP was just AMAZING. He was a very nice, caring man. He had an electric Hepa Filter brought into the room when my mom was having a hard time with the smell of cleaners (headaches) and then made a note for our room to only be cleaned with vinegar and baking soda to reduce odors. He told us to keep the Hepa Filter for the week. Made for some great white noise (but mind you we were in such a quiet area anyway). He left me 2 voice messages over the week to make sure everything was perfect during our stay. And he stopped by the room on our departure day to wish us a safe trip and thank us for coming. I can't say enough about what a great CM (and person in general) this man is.

We did walk over to AoA one day to eat in their food court. I loved the theming of everything as we we walked by. And while their food court had some great selections, for US, we preferred the POP food court. AoA was very beautiful, but I don't think I would be staying at that resort. I would book POP again in the future, or maybe try CBR.

Hmmm, not sure what else to say about POP. IF you have any questions feel free to ask. And like I said, I'll be doing a much more detailed trip report.

I hope everyone was a GROOVY day :)

Arrived an hour ago. Stopped by Burger 21 near millinium mall for lunch. Weather is great. Staying in the 80's. About to meet my wife at the pool to get some sun!
