Waited all last year for a free dining pin for this past January's trip and never got it!!
Just now got a free dining pin for this fall...:confused3:confused3

Not the OP, but the one I got by email today was:
For arrivals most nights 8/2510/2/13,
10/1810/31/13, 11/1111/23/13,
11/3012/4/13 and 12/1512/22/13.

I wish I would get one!! I am going on some of those dates and sure would use it!

Please forgive me, I'm a bit confused. If I am reading these dates correctly, the week we will be there are included. That is the week of October 20th. I haven't seen anything for free dining for that week. What am I missing her? TIA!!

The GP (general public) offer for free dining right now is just for September I think the 2nd - 25th. They haven't put any offers out for October yet. The OP (and one PP) both got pins via e-mail for FD for later in the year. That means they can use their personal pins to book a trip with FD during those dates but other people aka General Public cannot. They may release a FD GP offer for October but they haven't done it yet - they just released September

It's been the view of the Discount board that Disney is pulling back on discount offers (FD etc) trying to wean the public off of discounts since the economy is improving and they no longer "need" to offer discounts to fill rooms/ the parks.

Yes, your date is included, but this is a PIN code and not a general public discount. It is possible that they will open it to the public, but only if the PIN codes do not get the bookings they are looking for. You can only use the code if you got it in the mail.

There are room only discounts out now for the fall. Maybe that will help if FD is not offered to the public.

I've never received a PIN. They are completely random and there's no sense or reason to those who get them.

Thanks so much for the quick replies. So now my question is how do I get these pin codes?

I've never received a pin but I've read basically you want to get on Disney's radar

sign up for a free trip planning DVD via the disney site

also you can try signing in on the site poking around with vacation dates and not booking anything (some have gotten pins after that you know to get you to go ahead and book)

I think there were other ways listed but I don't remember what they are

good luck!

If you qualify for it, you can apply it to your trip- just call Disney...

Wait really? I saw a couple of people got the pin code for free dining this summer, since I booked I haven't received anything, wouldn't I have gotten something already. Or because they saw I'm already booked they won't send anything.

Not sure why you havent gotten it. from what i hear the pin distribution is kind of random. BUT If they offer it to the general public bf you go, and you qualify, call Disney and they will add the discount for you

You can also call to see if they have it attached to your name. I did get the pin by email, but when I called they also had it attached to my name so I didn't even have to tell them. Sadly, I was just getting quotes today.

Really- thank you :) I'm going to call tomorrow. They used to send me them all the time and then I booked and got nothing- that free dining summer pin going around would be perfect :) who doesn't love saving some money right- I will try tomorrow, hey one can hope right? Lol :) thank you so much for letting me know :)

Completely random.

Perhaps. :confused3

I tend to side with those who claim that ordering the planning DVD, saving unreserved trips in your personal profile, and maintaining a pattern of activity on their website tends to keep your account in the "tease them with a discount pin" category. My experience is that I'm receiving pins for dates corresponding exactly to the same time periods for which I am researching lodging availability while logged in. :thumbsup2

And for those who wonder if having reservations will lessen the opportunity to receive a pin, rest assured this isn't the case. My 2010 trip was on the books for well over a month when I was blessed with a pin allowing me to convert from room only discount to full-up free dining. :coffee:

But I will agree that the chances of getting a pin are exactly ZERO if you haven't opened a profile and registered an email at the main Disney site, opting in for marketing emails and promotions. :badpc:

However, like many others I have done all of this and never get a PIN number. Others seem to get a new pin offer every few months.
