May 18, 2013 Magic EBTA Part Two - From Tejas to España

Alright, I know there was already a conversation going about transportation in London from the airport to their hotel, but now I need advice. We are staying at Premier Inn Waterloo (Westminster Bridge) so we will only be 5 minute walk from the Waterloo station. We are taking the Eurostar from Paris and will first need transportation from St. Pancras to our hotel. I had planned on just taking the tube. Is this not a good idea? Is it King's Cross St. Pancras taking the Northern line to Waterloo Station? We will each have one piece of luggage and my hubby will also have a carry on. When we leave a couple of days later, we were going to take the tube (Northern to Piccadilly transferring at Leicester Square) to Heathrow. So I guess my questions are- Is this a bad idea and does it make sense (as far as stations and lines)? I have never used mass transportation before but I spent HOURS online over the weekend learning about the metro and RER for our Paris portion. Everyone says once you get the hang of it, it's great, and I'm completely confident it will be. However, learning about transportation I've never used, in a country I've never been to, in a language I can't read, using currency I'm not familiar with...well...it took a while. :lmao: I don't think the tube will be as difficult because not only will it be in English, we will have already tackled Paris and used the metro there. So any advice would be appreciated!

I think if you can handle the Paris Metro the London underground will be a breeze. It is very well signposted, just keep in mind the line you are using and the station you are heading for. It is worth knowing if you are heading north, south, east or west because for some lines you need to follow signs for example like this one:

The only thing I would suggest is to avoid rush hour if possible when you are dragging cases about, but I expect that is the same for all tube systems. apart from that, the London Tube system is pretty simple.

Hi all,

Are any of you going directly to the Barcelona airport after disembarkation? Are you using the Disney transfer or doing a private car/shuttle? If the latter, which company are you going with and how much do they charge for an adult? child? Was thinking of booking BCN Travel, but thought I'd ask for recommendations first.

thanks,
Teri :)

The first time we went into Barcelona, we waited for a cab, along with half the ship!! The last time we booked a car in advance from Resorthoppa and I have done the same this time to go to the airport using Suntransfers. It's about €40 for the two of us and two cases.

Cabin Cruisers update :wave2:: So far, these cabin numbers have offered a peek into the stateroom on the first Friday at 10AM, meeting by the Cove Cafe: 2066, 2129, 5518, 5520, 6040, 6110, 6142, 6141, 6152, 6590, 7034, 7062, 7136, 7806, 8036, 8502, 8512, 8524, 8532. If I have missed your listing, gotten a number wrong, or if you wish to delete your cabin from viewing, LMK by posting here or please send me a PM. Also, the following wish just to cruise (walk with us): Kirsten, Teri, Andrea, Mandy, and Lysand. It is entirely possible we may streamline this list for duplicates of more than two category levels of rooms so that you don't get bored.

I am hoping to get a cab too but not going to the airport just our hotel.. does that work or should I reserve a car??

We are on the list, and we're fine with the tour!

Safe travels for those leaving soon! I am in the middle of my work week (okay, fine, it's only three days, but I *do* work 14-16 hours on those days), so can't really reply to all the posts, but....

I'M TOTALLY EXCITED!!!

:thumbsup2

Sorry, I forgot I have an 11B sideways 6507 and of course people can come and view it. Just remind me nearer the time, it will always be neat & tidy, but just want to make sure. It can't be any worse than a military bed inspection, on that occasion my bedding and kit went out the 3rd floor window. Oh well they said it was a learning experience.

The website has to be manually updated with cabin numbers by Chris, who is in London on business right now and will have just a quick turn around before boarding the flight to London. I will list only names/cabins as they are listed there with an asterik at the bottom to clarify these were input by folks a while back.

Those on Facebook have a different list going, some with more names or cabin numbers. But it is in a "closed" group so I know some felt more open to list their cabin there versus here. You might have to use that list if you are over there.

Same thing for FE list - some had indicated they did not want children's names published.

So to cover all bases, I will use the one and only public list we have had - that people submitted on their own -- our webpage list. Any other list will need to be gathered by folks on their own. I cannot be held responsible for putting info out there on the DIS Navigator and will use only the "public" list. I just can't go through getting my rear chewed again publicly or behind my back while on vacation - so erring on the side of caution to keep everyone's info secure. :goodvibes

Anyone that wants their Roll Call information updated can PM me, use the Contact the WebMaster form on our EBTA website, or even re-submit your information on the Roll Call Entry page. This will create a duplicate line but I can merge the lines together. But, this last option relies on me getting the merge correct. :)

9 days! :dance3:

Yay!! I just thought of you when catching up on posts. I need to see one -- have booked them before and never ended up in one. Booked in one for WBTA 2014... so I am still interested to see one in-person. Thank you, Stevie!!

What will Mary think with you have all sorts of women in your room? :rotfl2: Adding to that divorce checklist I mentioned earlier!

Just teasing ya.

How much should we plan to bring in Euros for a week in Barcelona? My parents tried to tell me to get $2000 -- I was like "Whaaaa?" I thought most places took Visa/MC and I'll just need a little cash for cabs, little shops and cafes, etc. Or no?

And how many British pounds for Gibraltar?
