I have Boma booked for dinner on a HS day. I'm thinking of switching it to boatwrights dining hall at the POR where im staying so I don't have to take numerous buses that day. Is it worth it to keep Boma? How's the food? Any infor or pics if you have would be great.

I'm a picky eater and enjoyed Boma in 2008. My husband loved it. It's the only repeat restaurant we're doing on this trip (we haven't been to WDW since then).

I remember many savory meats and potatoes, soups, and wonderful zebra domes for dessert.

I've dined at Boma several times. I think it's good but I don't know if its good enough to do it relying on resort to resort bus transportation.

Could you possibly swing for a cab on the return? We always take a cab back to our resort from AKL.

I like Boma a lot, but I only eat there when I stay at AKV. Personally, I avoid extra travel. There are so many places around WDW I like to eat, so I also make it convenient.

Our trip to WDW wouldn't be complete without a dinner at Boma. We love eating something different than the normal items found at many of the restaurants there. Our kids look forward to it as well. The soups and salads are our favorite!

We love BOMA. Especialy love the soups (my favorite is the butternut squash) and desserts (banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce!). Nice carving station and atmosphere. Also great just going over to see AKL. It is a beautiful resort and you can go out back to see the savannah.

I would definitely keep the reservation.

When are you going? We are staying POR and going to Boma for our first night of dinner. We were just going to take the bus from AK to DTD to burn off some of the food and then hop the boat to the hotel. We are doing this on Monday so I can let you know how it goes.

We're going August 18-25... We just switched our Boma to an early dinner on our AK day. I did a 4:30 dinner which is really early for us but whatever. I hope it's worth it. I've heard pretty good things about this place and figured I'd give it a try myself.

To me it is worth it. I love the variety of foods and the desserts are delish! Plus I really love being at that resort to sit by the fire or have a drink. It is beautiful! Leaving HS you can take a direct bus to AKL. It is the return trip that will require a change. If AK is still open or up to an hour after closing that is the easiest place to go from AKL and then get your bus to POR.

We really enjoy Boma and we like the resort too. If you plan to take a bus to AK make sure they are still running the busses at the time of your reservation and after. Another option is taking the ferry to DTD as there are a bunch of restaurants over there as well.

Keep it! I've gone to Boma 4 times on my last 3 trips. My next trip I'll be staying at AKL.. Boma is half the reason, lol.

We love Boma and eat here every time we go to WDW. When we stayed at the Poly we took a cab and I think it cost us 20 dollars

Definitely make sure about this. And definitely try Boma! We thought Boatwright's was very good, but Boma was better. However, the drawback of getting back to POR after Boma was that it seemed like it took forever...especially in the dark after a very long day :faint:

Boma is a must-do for us next trip, even though we won't be at AKL. It is the best buffet we've tried by far. So yummy.

You can see pictures of food in the live report thread in Disney Restaurant Reviews forum. I highly recommend giving that thread a look. The first page has links to various restaurant reviews, all with pics. Table of contents is in the third post.

We have reservations for dinner after spending the day at ak, this is the second time we have booked this way. Even with having to travel back to cbr which is where we are staying its still worth it , Im not a big meat eater and not a big fan of spareribs but I tried them last time we were there and I must say they were the best I have ever had!:thumbsup2

We stayed at POR last Dec. We had BOMA on our DHS day. We actually drove to DHS as we had a car. But you could bus there. We did, however, leave our car at DHS and take the bus to AKL from DHS and have a 5pm dinner at Boma. It was my favorite meal. We took the bus back to DHS for Osborne lights. It didn't see like a very long bus ride at all. Then we drove back to POR after. I loved the Seafood soup at Boma. All the food was delicious to me. I'm a pretty adventurous eater, DH not so much, DD in between and we ALL loved it!! If you do decide to change to Boatwrights...I recommend the prime rib. DH said it was stellar!
