I know, I know....Tony's is awful. BUT....

...I am dead set and determined to try it for myself this trip. I have always been scared away by the bad reviews for both Tony's and Chef's, but some sick and twisted part of me wants to give them a shot. I have a 8:25 ADR, and MSEP starts at 9, so I'm hoping we can can get lucky with a patio table to catch a glimpse of the parade. (If we don't, my heart will go on.)

So....if you were forced to eat at Tony's (under penalty of never being able to enter Disney property again if you refuse), what would you order?

TIA! :)

.

Awwwww....I have not had a bad meal at Tony's. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to dine there on Thanksgiving day. We were seated on the patio and had a perfect view of the parade.

Enjoy your meal!

I would caution against the chicken parm myself... but people love the fried zucchini, calamari, pumpkin soup (don't know if that's seasonal) and tiramisu

Our family of 3 has eaten there twice. Sorry to say I don't remember what any of us had, but I do know we were all happy with our meals both times. Hope you enjoy.

Chicken Parmaigania or Shrimp Scampi

I absolutely LOVE shrimp scampi....that is what I was actually thinking of ordering!

You know, you know? But you've never been?

Some of us like TONY's.

You might, too.:)

Which is why I asked for opinions on what to order. :)

And the "I knows" are figures of speech. Sorry for the confusion.

DS likes calamari, so he'll be happy to hear that Tony's offers it!

I'm always amazed on these boards at the number of people who are scared off of restaraunts because of what others say. When it comes to food, music and movies I trust one person's opinion...mine. That's not say I disregard others opinions on everything, but I take them with a large grain of salt. You may love Tony's...you may not, but you won't know until you try it.

Oh, I'd order the Cioppino and Tiramisu, and an ice cold Peroni.

While Tony's is not a "must do every trip" kinda restaurant for us, we do like it.

We ate there in 2011 & 2012, &, this year, we're trading it for Be Our Guest.

I love the "Lady & the Tramp" theme... so cute! If you're collecting character autographs, be sure you give your autograph book(s) to your server. Lady & the Tramp "hang out" in the kitchen, & your server can get their autographs for you. ;)

We enjoy sitting in the sunroom because I like the bright, airy feeling, but the main dining room looks nice too - there's a cute Lady & Tramp statue in the middle of the restaurant. And, unlike lots of other WDW restaurants, I don't find the tables as close together - they're still close, but not as close! There's also patio seating which is nice - sitting on Main Street, soaking up the atmosphere. And, if you time it right, you could end up w/ a patio seat during one of the parades.

The waiting area is nice too, & it's always semi-crowded to crowded, so, apparently, other people like the restaurant as well! LOL!

We've also always had fine service.

Is it the best restaurant in WDW? No. But it's not the worst either. It really is fine - I'm not sure why it always gets such bad reviews.

For appetizers, the zucchini fries are really, really good! And DH said the calamari is fine.

For entrees, I really like Shrimp Scampi - it's light & flavorful. It has always tasted fresh to me. In the previous years, DH has always gotten the pork or steak entrée, but, last year, he got the Cannelloni. He said it was only okay. Our kids like the Spaghetti & Meatballs, & younger DS LOVED the Mickey Ravioli.

For dessert, we get the Tiramisu which is good. The kids enjoyed the Ice Cream Bomb.

Here are some pics from our dinner last September...

Hope this helps some!! Give Tony's a try!!

Wow...very informative post! Thanks so much for the review....that scampi looks super yummy!

I know everyone's tastes are different, but we have always enjoyed it. We've eaten at Tony's 3 of the last 5 trips and have it booked for our trip in September. We have enjoyed our meal every time and (knock on wood) had excellent service each time we go.

My DH loves the chicken parmigiana and my new go-to is a caesar salad and then the calamari as my entree. DH has a thing for the ice cream bomb too!

I think as long as you go in knowing it isn't going to be flown over straight from Italy italian food and more like italian food comparable to probably Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill (if you have those around you) you should be all good!!

I will say though, if I absolutely had to pick Tony's or Via Napoli, I would pick Via Napoli hands down - talk about deliciousness!! ::yes::

We've eaten at Tony's each time we've been to WDW and we really enjoy it. I love the calamari, and the pistachio creme brulee. I normally get the spaghetti and meatballs and again, I like it.
My kids love the food and the theme as well.

It was okay. we had chicken parm & spaghetti & Meatballs. My hubby said he'd go back but I'm not sure if I would or not.....

We went with a party of 10 for my daughter's 16th birthday and everyone really liked it, and there were several picky eaters among us. The service was great and I thought it was nice inside. I do love Lady and the Tramp:)

I really liked lunch at Tonys their Panini was wonderful and stacked with meat! Everyone at my table wished they would have ordered it!

We are trying Tony's for the first time this year, sometimes you just want to try somewhere despite bad reviews. It looks nice I think, so I want to see for myself. I've been put off places in the past which have turned out to be perfectly enjoyable. My little boy will certainly go for the Mickey Ravioli!!
