March 1, 2014 ~ Disney Fantasy Western Cruise Meet Thread ~

okay, I got our FE info sent in the PM! Whew!:upsidedow. I forgot to add our hometown, we are just outside of DC on the VA side. We are super excited for this cruise. Our first was a 3 day, and there wasn't e ought time to do everything! So, maybe with 7 days we can do more, or relax more. :goodvibes

I totally agree with you, a three or four day cruise is just way to short. That's why we are doing this seven day. We didn't feel like we had the time to see the ship and experience many of what the ship has to offer.

This is our second cruise, but first on the Fantasy. We were on the Dream this past February. We did the FE that cruise and can't wait to do this one! We have two cabins and 5 people. Disboards isn't always user friendly on my iPad but I will try to add us to everything. :)

Welcome Aboard!

I've added your info to the roll call & FE list. Hometown.. Not sure what to write? Thanks :)

We are excited to go on our second Disney Cruise and first on the Fantasy!

Nathan (39) & Jessica (34) from Las Vegas
Stateroom # 9164/second seating for dinner

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Can we be added to the fish extender list as well? That looks fun!
Our info for that if possible is:
Snowcar
9164
Nathan (M-39) & Jessica (F-34)
Jensen
Las Vegas
Fav characters = Mater & Grumpy
Fav colors = Orange & Purple

We went on the Wonder in February of this year and had a great time...can't wait to see what Fantasy has in store!

We're thinking of going to Disney World for a few days before the cruise but still not sure...since we are going for a week this September...does anyone who has done them in combo before have advice about if Magical Express should be used for DW/Cruise together or if we should rent a car and turn it in a the port terminal?

What is everyone doing between now and the cruise for their Disney fix? We are going to WDW in March for our anniversary, then in October, we are going to do a coast to coast trip hitting DL and WDW for my wife's big birthday!

We are going to Disneyland in May (just got back from a weekend there too) then to the D23 Convention in August (for our anniversary), then Disney World in September, and back to Disneyland for the holidays (my favorite time to visit since it is magical)...hopefully all of that will make the cruise arrive quickly!!! ;)

We are from Quebec also (the south shore of Montreal) we will be on this cruise also and me are dragging 3 other couples with us.

I'm sure the couples don't mind being dragged with you! On our last cruise everyone wanted to be packed in our luggage!:thumbsup2

Hi! Just re-booked for this cruise! Found out our spring break is 2 weeks earlier than we thought. :) Super excited to finally do a 7 night. We switch between the Disney Parks and the Cruise each year. This will be our 4th cruise, first on the Fantasy. We have sailed on the Wonder and Dream, and our daughter has sailed those as well as the Magic. Between us all we have covered them all!! We have done 3,4, and 5 nights. Time to step it up!

Our crew: (ages at time of travel)
Heidi (over 20), dh Don (over 21), ds Deven (18), dd Megan (16), ds Austen (13), ds Aric (9)

We will also be traveling with grandparents and my brother, but I am not sure if they want to be in the FE group yet.

We are from Monroe, La (originally from Denver, CO.) We have main seating dining, and we have 2 staterooms (connecting-just our immediate family) #6572 & 6570.

Definitely yes for the FE group! Can't wait!

We're originally from Colorado too! Had to escape the cold and move to Las Vegas though!

Since it seems quite a few of you have been on this itinerary before, do you recommend doing an excursion in Costa Maya or just enjoying the shops, pool, and beach near the dock? We are debating...

Has anyone done the excursion to Tulum from Cozumel that lasts all day? Is it worth it? I wouldn't want to do it without Disney so that they are sure to hold the boat for us since it is a long one and you never know...but we've always wanted to see the Mayan Ruins in Mexico.

How you post your links for the trackers? I created them and tried to link them but they won't connect...thanks for the help...sorry, we are new to this!

:welcome:

Welcome aboard! We are getting quite the large group here!
Be sure to check out the Facebook group, lots of other great info there from our cruise group!

Here is a great thread on how to modify your signature and add a countdown ticker. One of the common causes is the length of the link, long URLs are truncated are a certain number of characters thus rendering the ticker incomplete. Not sure if this is what is happening to you however the thread will help you figure it out!

Thank you! We found out about this from the Facebook group :) I appreciate your help with the tickers...I believe I figured it out with your tip!

We have done the Tulum ruins tour before, a few years ago. It was vey nice, the ruins are amazing, the tour guide was very informative. We stopped somewhere along the route for a bathroom break at a local store where you could buy some keep sakes. At the end of the tour you have some free time to walk down to the a very nice beach, the ruins are almost on a cliff. However, the day we went was very raining so we just explored the site on our own a bit before meeting back at the bus. There is also a little "village" at the base of the ruins, several shops and a few places to grab something quick to eat.

We are doing a different set of ruins this time I think because we have already seen Tulum. It was worth the money, in my opinion

Welcome Aboard! I've added you info to both the board and FE list :)

We looked at both options last cruise and for us renting a car was the better option. We are a family of 5 so we were saving money by doing this.

We have stayed a WDW before all our previous cruises ( having come all the way from the UK we have to stay a while!). Each time we have taken the DCL coach from the resort to the port for the convenience. They collect your luggage from your room and you don't have to bother about it again until it turns up outside your stateroom onboard. Then a leisurely breakfast at the resort followed by a last stroll around then board the bus which shows Disney cartoons etc during the journey that DS loves. On arrival at the port, there have never been queues to check in and we have boarded straight away. The only disadvantage we could see is if you wanted to be at the port early as they do not seem to arrive until 12.30 - 1.30. The cost compared to a car rental will depend on number of passengers. But you will have to take the time to collect / drop off the car.

That being said, this cruise we will have a rental car as though we are doing 2 days at WDW, we are not staying in the resorts as we are going to do some non park days too. So we will be driving to the port and dropping off.

Hi Everyone! We just came home from a cruise and signed up for this one while on board. Can't wait to go back to the Fantasy again! This will be our third cruise on the Fantasy, 7th Disney cruise overall, but first Western. We are excited to go on a new itinerary. I'll be looking into what excursions we want to do. For those of you who have done a Western before, what excursions have you done that you've enjoyed? Not really beach people. :thumbsup2
