Aug 12-19.2013 Mickey's Mouseketeers -Alaska Cruise

I'm just chuckling at all the paperwork I'm accumulating. You wouldn't believe all the confirmations and cancellations that are piling. I'm so glad that hotels and Amtrak allow cancellations.... I'd be in the soup if they didn't. I need a keeper!

Karen we were going to stay at the Georgian too - Hampton owns them and they are right next door to each other but with a party of 12 the lady suggested we stay at the Hamptons - bigger beds and the breakfast deal. I haven't booked the quick shuttle yet but maybe I should go ahead and do it. I think I will book the later one too just in case and like you said maybe they can take us sooner if we get off in time but then we have to wait at the airport in Seattle. Not sure what time to book a flight home from there. I did like going to Port Canaveral better because it was all taken care for you. Although when we got back in last summer from the Fantasy we had to wait at the airport till 5:30 PM to catch the flight home since Virgin had only one flight back to SF. We got a day room at the Hilton at the airport. We will have a great time so all this planning is worth it! I can't wait. Are you doing the FE on this cruise? My grandkids loved it last time so we are planning on it this time too!

I think i've planned this to be as stressless as possible. we have a night in Seattle on both ends of the Vancouver/cruise leg of the trip. we shouldn't have too much trouble making our connections with the shuttle or the cruise. even so, i have that nagging feeling that i'm going to forget something crucial. On the Bahamas cruise we were with our children and grandchildren. I felt safe. On our own I'm not so sure, lol.

If we were going with children, I would probably sign up for the FE, but since it's just the two of us old fogies I haven't done so. My grandchildren really enjoyed doing it on the Bahamas cruise. Some people were really creative.... My daughter among them. I don't know where she gets it.. Certainly not from me!!

That is typically when we have cut off on the other cruises I have been on... Im good for a month out! Seems like a small group this time...

Hi Everyone! It's been a little while since I've been active on the boards (last cruise was Hawaii 6 months ago) but with being down to double digits, the excitement is really kicking in! I searched the thread and this appears to be the only reference to a FE list. I'm not on Facebook and was wondering if anyone here has volunteered to keep a list? If so, who can I ask to add me? If not, I'm open to doing it. Thanks - Justen

So fun to read all the chatter here. We also are flying into Seattle on the 10th then taking the Quick Shuttle directly to the hotel (Westin Bayshore). It will be a long day. Wake up in Boston, Go to sleep in Vancouver. Can't believe we are in the double digits now! Woohoo!

So I booked our Skagway excursion independently through Chilkoot. We are doing the train up, bus down with a 15 minute dogsled ride. Saved some money since they still consider DD11 a child.
Waiting til the 14th to book Juneau since the excursion DH and DD17 want won't let us book ourselves.

If I just could figure out the parking dilemma........

Getting excited! :goodvibes

My husband and I decided that we wanted to see more glaciers than the Disney cruise provided, so we have now booked a second cruise.... this one a southbound one from Whittier to Vancouver on the Diamond Princess, August 3-10. We'll have a day in Vancouver to do our laundry before boarding Disney Wonder on the 12th. I'm getting SO excited about this trip. The Princess one is much cheaper. I wouldn't give up the Disney cruise for love or money, but it'll be nice to get to see a bit more of the coast than the Disney trip will give us. Had to change the plane flights and hotel rooms, but it's all good :-).

Wow! Went online at 2223 to sign up for excursions, (we're on the west coast), and the helicopter glacier trek that DH and DD17 wanted to do was unavailable! Was able to book the shorter, less strenuous one. Went ahead and reserved the Taku lodge for myself and DD11 though I could save $40 if I booked independent of Disney......
Anyone else book their excursions?

Denise

Forgot last night to book! grr anyways booked just now. Juneau - Disney exclusive dog musher for the day and Skagway - white rail and kayaking. Also booked a palo brunch, but need to wait until our family can book so I can book one for all of us together.

We are all checked in and booked up! We have the Whitepass Railway booked and a couples massage. Also Harv and Marv's Whale Watching booked outside of Disney, and I think that is all we want to do right now. Check in time 11:00 am.

Sooooo looking forward to hanging out on that ship and being taken care of!

:cheer2:

I checked in today, too. We booked the White Pass train trip in Skagway and a dinner at Palo's. We're going to wait until we get to the ports to book any more excursions. I'm sure it will be fun poking around the towns, and I'd like to know what the weather is going to be like before I decide on anything that might be adversely affected by cold drizzle/rain. I'm hoping there will be opportunities to sign up for excursions once we get to the ports. If not, we'll enjoy what's local to the ship.

Our group is all checked in too! Check in time for the ship 11:00 AM. My thought is the earlier you get on the more time you have. I have been on the Wonder before so I know the ship really well but a few of our group have never been on it and one has never been on a cruise before. Booked the excursions that we wanted. Me, myself, I just want to relax on the ship and maybe walk around the towns a little but I have done this cruise many times and seen it all. Most times when we go on a cruise I never get off! Each day gets a little closer :)

I asked for the 11:00 a.m. check-in, and it went through, but I didn't get a confirmation of it, and I don't see anywhere that it's listed as my time. I don't remember before how that worked.... maybe it'll show up in the itinerary booklet we get just before we leave.

I'm really excited about seeing the Wonder. I've been reading reviews, and she sounds like a wonderful ship. The only Disney ship I've been on is the Dream. We'll be on the Fantasy for the Caribbean in March, and if we do the Panama Canal that'll be the Wonder again.

We didn't get off the ship in the Bahamas. It was nice being onboard when there weren't so many people around. I don't imagine we'll spend all day every day touring the ports, especially since we'll be at each one twice.

The time should zip by now that we're getting into the warmer weather seasons. We have lots of company here when the weather warms up, so I'll be busy entertaining and that will make the time pass quickly.

What an awesome forum this is! I've learned so much about Disney cruises by reading the treads.
My daughter, 2 grandchildren and I will be on this cruise. Soooo excited!
This is their first cruise and my first Disney cruise. We would like to take part in the FE gift exchange. Just wondering if I sign us up myself or does someone else do it?
Thanks
Pat

Hi Pat~Welcome!
There is a link on the previous page to the google document that Victoria started for our FE. Feel free to add your family to the list.

Denise

Welcome onboard. You can find a link to the FE on page 12 or close to that page. Looking forward to the cruise. Getting excited as it gets closer.

I am finishing up my FE today and will start working on my gifts next friday. I have a plan just need to get some supplies. We now have 14 cabins in our FE exchange. A couple cabins don't have room numbers, be sure to add those as soon as you know. If anyone is interested in making a ship map with all the FE cabins highlighted that would be awesome. If not, no big deal.

Only 76 days!
