Today is a special day at Disney Hollywood Studios! WDW is celebrating Limited Time Magic by hosting a special Star Wars event, May the 4th be with you! Today only!

Although I might be missing some events from earlier today, I'm still looking forward to checking out what the hub bub is about.

Maybe grab some limited edition pins!

Just got back. Unfortunately there were no limited edition pins left. There were two available just for today, they were limited edition 1500. One had Stitch dressed in Yoda's outfit and it said "May the 4th be with you". And the other one was Goofy in Darth Vader's outfit and it said "Revenge of the 5th". The cast member said that they had sold out at 11 am! Must have been a long line as well.

We got really lucky and got a very close parking space, only about 7 rows from the front of the parking lot. There was quite a few cars at the entrance and also in front of us when we parked, but it went quickly enough. We parked and headed on into the park on foot, there was no point in taking the tram. We didn't have to wait at all when we went into the park, we used the new RFID entry line.

I picked up a Times Guide and saw there were fireworks scheduled at 9:45 pm. We headed down the main street and veered towards 50's Prime Time. We went into the Tune-In lounge and it was crowded! No chairs at the bar, no seats available in the waiting area. We ordered a couple of beers and a milkshake. I decided to try the Chocolate Peanut Butter milkshake...turns out that was a bad idea. It was sickly sweet and with all the heat and walking around, it made me feel sick for the next couple hours.

We walked over to the main stage by Mickey's Sorcerer Hat. There was a DJ playing dance music, and we got in closer to see that there was Donald in Stormtrooper costume and Goofy in a Darth Vader costume. That was really cool! We've never been to any Star Wars weekends, so this was new to us. It was really cute. After a while, we headed over to Star Tours, there was a Padawan Training session in progress. There were a bunch of kids and some parents on stage participating.

We were feeling kinda icky, and went looking for a place to get some drinks. We thought we could get something from Mama Melrose's since there is a short bar at the end of the counter, but turns out you can't order anything, it's just for people waiting to be seated. A cast member told us there was a bar over by the Backlot Catering quick service. Finally got a chance to sit down and rest and get hydrated. While we were there we saw Darth Vader and at least 4 Stormtroopers!

We had dinner reservations at Mama Melrose's and headed back for dinner. We checked in about 25 minutes early but got seated around our ADR time. Dinner was good, and we were able to get out in time for the fireworks. We headed on back to the center of Hollywood Studios, looking for a place to watch the fireworks. We've never seen any fireworks show here, except for a few rockets coming from the Fantasmic area, so we didn't know where the fireworks would be and where would be a good place to watch. We ended up by the Gertie's, the dinosaur.

The fireworks were AMAZING! They played Star Wars music and the fireworks were just stunning, the finale blew me away. I found out that the fireworks today were actually a shorter version of the fireworks show that they do during the Star Wars weekends. I recorded them with my camera, glad I did, I'll be happy to watch that again. I'm definitely looking forward to going back during Star Wars weekends to see the full fireworks show.

We went over to Muppets 3D and watched the movie. Then headed back over to the main stage area. This time they had Luke and Leia, Chewbacca, Greedo, and the Cantina Band! After watching them dance, and taking pictures, we decided to go see the Little Mermaid show. It was getting late and we figured it would be a good time to leave before closing time, so we skipped the show. We headed back to the main stage area and saw Tusken Raiders, Boba Fett, and a Jawa. The costumes were AWESOME, they looked like movie quality.

I'm so glad we got to go, it was way better than I expected. I can't wait to go again!

Great TR! :)

Thanks!

I didn't mention this in my trip report, while I was recording the Donald and Goofy, I had recorded a very special Disney moment. Goofy dancing with a disabled young man, he was in a wheelchair probably had MS perhaps, and it brought me to tears. Goofy was dancing with him and hugged him. The young man was so incredibly happy in that moment. It was a very touching sight to see.
