Which value would you stay at with this set of conditions?

We are going to Disney for one night for MNSSHP. We'll arrive in Orlando around 10:00 a.m. on a Friday, go to the party at 4:00, and then we'll be leavning Orlando around 7:00 a.m. the next morning.

I don't want to spend more than $150/night, so I think a value is my only choice. Which value is closest to Magic Kindgom? If distance isn't really a consideration, which value would you choose and why?

THank you!

I would pick AOA b/c it's the newest and also b/c there have been people on these boards who have 1 or 2 nights booked at AOA and have been upgraded to deluxes due to overbooking at AOA Little Mermaid rooms. You might get really lucky! Second choice would be POP. I would not pick the all stars in case they share buses that day.

I think pop is a tad closer than the all star resorts. Thats what I would choose. :) love that resort.

You can rule out AoA cause the standard rooms, Little Mermaid, is quite far from the buses etc.

We love Pop Century. It is big and a little more money than the All Stars but worth it. Will you have a car? That is easier than taking the bus to MK.

Yes, we are renting one (probably at MCO), because we are driving to Miami the next day. We probably won't mess around with Disney transportation, and will just drive ourselves to the park.

Even though we always have a car, I've always found WDW bus to MK a lot easier than driving. If you drive, you have to park, ride the tram to the TTC, and then take the monorail or boat to MK. The bus drops you off pretty close to the MK turnstiles.

we have stayed at all allstars, pop, and aoa, and i would undoubtedly stay at pop. all stars are so small and crowded - do not have the open feel that the oterhs have. stayed at aoa in march and felt it was over populated because of the newness... pop is always the most relaxing of the values to us

I think Pop Century is the closest value. Make sure to display your resort parking pass on your dashboard when you head into MK so you don't have to pay for parking.

If price is the big concern, pick one of the All Stars. Pop and AoA are going to cost more. Not a huge price increase, but still more. Looking at a Friday in October, both of those are over your 150 limit. (No discounts considered, if there will be any) If you're doing a September party, you might just make it, but the All Stars still come in at lower rates.

I can't comment on buses. We don't use them.

Just curious. What is so bad about the All stars? DH & I are going down for 2 nights before our cruise and are also thinking of doing MNSSHP. We booked at ALL Star Movies, but now I'm wondering if I should switch.

The $150 us a guideline...not set in stone. We were looking at $200 a night in Miami, so anything under that is a savings.

I think I'd still stick with lowest cost in your case. It doesn't sound like you'll really have much resort time, so I don't see a big reason to think too much about where. I'd save a few bucks and buy something else at the party to take home instead. (Or save the money for another visit!)

Again, I know nothing about buses though! Hope you have a great trip!

I love All Star Movies!!!! We have stayed there every yr for the last 17 visits and have no complaints. They recently renovated and the rooms look great. Taking the bus is def better thn driving as a PP said. Waaay too complicated to drive if ur just going for the party and are on a time constraint. We'll b doing the party this Sept as well! Enjoy :)

So my ambivalence got the best of me. Visa came out with discounts today but All Star Movies wasn't on it. So looks like I'm going with POP. We can walk over to AOA from PoP right?

yes you can walk from POP to AOA just walk over Generation gap bridge

Since you have a car and don't need ME, why not consider Swan/Dolphin? If you have AAA, you can get a discount which will put the price at just a little more than a value resort (just checked and a Friday in Oct. is $188 at the dolphin) and you will get a fabulous hotel with some of the most comfortable beds on property. Bus transportation to and from MK will be the same, (if not quicker,) as a value. Just for comforts sake, I would pick S/D over a value anytime!

Yes, it is a short walk across the bridge to POP. We had a great room in 60s lakeview that had a great view and was very close to the bridge.

All Stars are the least expensive, so that's my vote. I think Movies looks the best. We tried Sports, and didn't fall in love with the theming, but others love it.
Pop is our fav value, though. Wish they hadn't raised their rates.
