We are looking at excursions in Skagway and need reviews and pointers about White Pas Scenic Railroad. All is appreciated!

I did the White Pass Railway excursion in 2011 that include the Yukon Suspension Bridge. We did the bridge first and the took the train back down to Skagway. I liked the tour, but you have to be really fast to get pictures of what they talk about. Disney had their own train car and you will be on the train with whichever other ships are in port.

We booked with Chilkoot. Train up, bus down. Still had time to shop in town. (my Alaska poem for the night). Great day.

I have this excursion booked through Chilkoot Charters--train up, town & dog kart ride, then bus down. Decided to do it this way after reading all of the reviews in this link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2723087

You'll basically find out all you need to know about excursions--both Disney and private--on that thread.

We booked it on our own so were in a car with very few people. The cars all connect together and the ones through the ships were packed.

We did the Yukon expedition and White Pass Railroad tour last year. Bus tour into the Yukon (and a super yummy lunch at a fun little tourist trap with the sled dogs) where we enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Then we boarded the train to take us back to Skagway. We liked having the train only be one way so we got to see different scenery throughout the day.

We did the railroad up, bike down excursion in 2011. The railroad had some beautiful scenery, and the ride back down the mountain was a lot of fun. I highly recommend it!

We were on a Princess cruise to Alaska last summer. We took a bus to the Yukon, had a BBQ lunch and took the train back to Skagway. LOVED this excursion (booked thru Princess). It took about 7.5 hours and we got some great photos (including bears!). The whole experience was great.

We did the round trip that goes just to the border. Great trip, fantastic scenery. We saw a black bear walking down the tracks in front of the train. When the train got near, it climbed down into the brush along the track, after the train went by, it climbed back onto the track and continued his trip.:rotfl:

We did the All Aboard Steam Train Excursion through DCL. It was a wonderful experience. The cars were full, but I did not feel it was cramped. I spent almost all of my time out on the platform between cars taking pictures and I got some great shots. It was a little more expensive than the regular train but it felt so authentic and we felt it was worth it for that experience.

Hope this helps!

We took the White Pass Railway & Klondike Gold Dredge tour so we rode the train up the Yukon Route. It was about a 1 1/2 hour narrated trip with beautiful vistas and excellent opportunities to get pictures. We have some great shots of the train turning to enter the tunnels and cross the wooden bridges. LOVED IT! We rode a van down from Canada to the Klondike Gold Dredge and saw the train from the rode. This trip required passports since you enter Canada.

I have to say I'm a bit biased when it comes to the WP&YR. My dad has 30+ years working for them. I say if you get the opportunity to take the train, DO IT!!!;) The views are breathtaking!! When we get the opportunity to visit, it is a must do.
