exchange rate on the ship

If I pay for things on board with Euros (cash), will I get gouged with the exchange rate?

As I understand it, you can't use cash for anything on board. Other than extra tips you want to give.

The ship will use the current exchange rate. I would look and see what the exchange rate is just before you sail and see what the differences would be if you paid in USD or Euros. But no they shouldn't overcharge or gouge you if you use Euros.

Guest services does take cash and can make change.

You can use cash to pay off your bill or make it prepaid, tips etc.. When you book an excursion or say make a gift shop purchase it is added to your onboard account. You cannot use cash for that.

The exchange rate on the ship will not be as good as the bank to bank rate you get from an ATM. Now since my bank charges no fees it is the best way for me. If yours does charge fees you would have to do the math.

In both 2010 and 2011 I found that the exchange rate to buy Euros on the ship, was practically the same as what I was charged for items that I bought off the ship and put on my credit card, so to me that was a reasonable exchange rate.

I can't speak for their current practice, but on a Med WBTA cruise, although the price for buying euros (euros for dollars) was good, the price for selling euros (dollars for euros) was not as good. I am sure they can tell you what index or rate they use when you give euros for prices quoted in dollars and then you can figure out whether to use them onboard
