Number 9 is really FINE! Welcome to AKL LITE - the 'unofficial' FAQ Thread

Hi All!
I'm trying to go through the thread, but have a ? I'm starting to look in a Novemeber trip for myself, my husband and 2 boys (3 and 6). I'm torn between AKL and Poly. With a little one that will still be in the stroller, the monorail would be great and not having to deal with buses some of the time.

But seeing animals from our room would be great too! So if we go with AKL what is the difference between the Savanna and Arusha views? I also think that they would love staying in a room with the bunks!
TIA!!

We stayed at the Poly when DS was 4 and it was great for ease of transportation but we only did HS for a day via bus and no AK that trip. This trip I decided to go with AKL instead of CR (DS is now 6 and DD is 2) because I was hoping for a more relaxing trip. And heck, I could add another night staying in a pool view room at AKL vs a standard room at the Poly (or deluxe GW room at CR). :-)

Thanks. We did a big family trip in August and stayed at the Beach club. We spent a lot of time in Epcot and it was so nice to just walk back with tired, sweaty kids in the stroller. The same for HS, we walked in the morning and took the boat back.

It's about $300 less to stay in a savannah room at AKL vs a standard room at Poly...I guess November won't be as hot and we won't be out as late probably. We'll see!

My 6 YO asked what is closet to the Dino dig!

I hoping for some sort of discount too!

We were at BC last September. I wasn't as much of a fan of the sticky, hot, humid walk back from Epcot...besides, the kids love the buses for some reason! :-)

I'm back here after a short LOA (ok I flipped over to BWV for my most recent trip shhhh!)

How many DVC CL studios are available? Just curious if I will ever have a shot at renting points for one of these.

Drinks and snacks were really good.

At breakfast, I loved the chocolate chip muffins and mini chocolate croissants. The oatmeal was surprisingly good, too - I'd add brown sugar and granola to it. Can you tell I have a sweet tooth?!?!? :lmao: DH loved the blueberry muffins, too.

Those chocolate chip muffins were laced with crack or something. Or maybe it was just that they had about 15 chocolate chips in a muffin the size of a quarter and an inch high. :). The oatmeal was excellent as well.

Also agree with the evening appetizers. Some were tasty, others were too spicy for our wuss tastes as well!

:wave2: For DVC CL there are only five 2-bedroom lock-off villas, which are booked mostly as studios and 1-bedrooms (5 each). Renting points for Club Level can be successful, but it would most likely have to be from an AKV owner who could book the reservation at the 11-month window.

Kim.. Look what I found in my shutterfly account.. Roy's photo we made

The croissants had crack in them also!!! Love them!

We just became DVC members and AKL is our home resort. We just booked our vacation for Sept. 4th. at Kidani. This will be our first time at AKL. We have only been to DW one other time and we stayed at POR. This thread is great. I love reading all the posts. I am really starting to get excited for this trip. :cheer2:

Hope someone might be able to help me. I saw a post that mentioned a pool view but, did not see an option for that when booking. We would like to be right next to the pool; and, if possible with the parking area below us. We have booked a two bedroom, non lock off, standard view.

Is this a possible option to request? If so, what part of the hotel would we ask for. I looked at the Kidani map and it seems like the standard views for part of the building do over look the pool and have the parking garage below the building right next to the pool. Are the 2 bedroom non lock offs with standard views anywhere near that part of the building which would accommodate such a request?

Thanks

Countdown to Disney:

DS and I were booked for CR over July 4th week, but as Murphy's Law goes, work constraints have forced me to move our Summer WDW vacation to early In June...and due to rate differences at CR, I just booked us for our first time at AKL, June 6 - 15. We are both really excited especially after reading through these pages and looking at all the amazing photos on the resort community pages. This looks to be a wonderfully unique vacation unlike our stays at many other deluxe and moderate resorts. We plan to fully immerse ourselves in the cultural experience and have even signed up to take the Wild Africa Trek at AK. Cannot wait! 35 days!! Hakuna Matata!!!! :)
