Looking for feedback from folks who have stayed at either or both of the above:

1. If you had the opportunity to stay at the GF for $300 more than the YC...would you do it?

2. Now, is it worth paying 800-1000 more for one of the above over a moderate?

If it matters both resorts would be standard view rooms.... need help deciding!

I'm currently at CSR with a FD BB BUT just got wind of a REALLY GREAT deal between the YC and GF - never thought about GF to be honest, but that is DH's "must do before I die" resort and it is his 50th this year :lmao:.... I honestly know NOTHING about GF and for the deal we'd be getting, don't think I could ever stay there.... I'm so torn on what to do that I'm ready to pull my hair out :scared1:

We have stayed at both resorts and I would pick YC because I love the Epcot resorts location. And it is a beautiful resort. But if it's on your husbands bucket list then I would go with GF. I'm no help, I know. Sorry.

I would choose a deluxe over a moderate at any cost because we love the pampering feeling we get at the deluxes.(JMHO)
Stayed at POR once and didn't like it at all.(again JMHO)

Good luck with your decision.

We've stayed at GF and will be trying YC for the first time next month. While we mostly enjoyed GF, I wouldn't stay there again until (a) the DVC construction is complete (I think this fall?); and (b) the rooms are refreshed.

The construction is both noisy & an eyesore. I personally felt it distracted from the otherwise peaceful setting at GF. And the rooms (at least the one we had) are more rundown than I would expect from the "flagship" resort. (Note: this is not a commentary on the *theme* -- I think the Victorian theme is lovely -- but rather the condition of the rooms.)

Because of those two things, we're staying at YC. Now, once construction is complete & if the rooms had been updated? I'd probably prefer GF. Maybe. :confused3

Good luck deciding!

I have stayed at both and unless you can afford to stay GF RPC in the main building, I would pick YC. It's just my opinion, but there's nothing that feels deluxe about having to walk outdoors from the lobby to my room. I have loved my stays in the main building but hated being in an outer building.

YC isn't my favorite Epcot area resort but it's still nice and I love being able to walk into Epcot and walk to DHS without getting on some form of Disney transportation. The dining choices within walking distance of the Epcot resorts makes the area so appealing.

We have a great deal for the YC. It's my dream resort, a resort that I never thought we could ever stay at. We had a choice if either YC or GF we choose YC
Reason why:
1- transportation to 2 parks - walking or boat (hate the buses)
2- everything is all in one place and pretty much 1 building (or BC not 4 large buildings away)
3- great pool!

GF is nice but the deal was 4 an outer building. I would rather be closer to everything. You have the monorail but only to 2 parks. Same #of options with the boat to Epcot or HS. Or just walk.

I think for us the time of year was also a big factor we are traveling during the summer if we were traveling in the winter I might have chosen GF but the pool made our decision a no brainer lol

I was originally going to say that if you think you're getting a once in a lifetime deal to stay at GF & it's on your bucket list then it's a must do! I think everyone should stay there once in their life if they can swing it. I'm happy to have stayed there and know what's it's like and not feel like I've missed out on anything but it's not really my go to resort like YC or BC. However...construction generally really does take away from your experience at a resort. I'm assuming we're talking about the DVC construction and I'm just not sure how obtrusive that would really be to you there because I haven't checked out the area since the construction began. I've stayed at various resorts during refurbishments and/or construction and it's just beyond irritating. The noise...the eyesore...it's just not conducive to peaceful vacationing so I would avoid any resorts under construction if it were me. So, based on that alone I would lean towards not recommending the GF.

What's nice about YC is the close proximity to Epcot and HS. If you love Epcot WS like I do...absolutely nothing beats being able to enter right into World Showcase through the International Gateway. A plus about YC is that you can stroll right up to the boat dock. I LOVE taking the boats to Epcot & HS there! YC is also much quieter than BC...less traffic & screaming kids in the hallways and lobby and main areas. It's not too long ago I had a screaming kid of my own lol...she's 9 now...but it's just so nice to break away from the chaos in the morning & at the end of a long day in the parks. YC scenery is just amazing. The rocking chairs all along the outside of the resort facing the water....aaaahh...wish I was there right now!!! lol Plus you are very close to a lot of great restaurants & dining options...Yachtsman, Boardwalk Bakery, Beaches & Cream, Le Cellier, France bakery. :p

We've stayed at both several time (and really enjoyed the trips where we split between the two).

YC is great for the pool and the proximity to Epcot and DHS. Standard rooms here face the parking lot (although many are looking at the trees, so it's not an awful view). It's all one building so you don't need to go outside to get to the lobby.

GF is great for being close to the MK, and the lobby is really pretty. Standard views here are prettier (mostly gardens). I'd be concerned about the DVC construction... but it does sound like you got a great price. You won't be in the main building, but the GF is a very compact resort, so it shouldn't be a long walk to your room.

As for a mod... we just really like the deluxes for the space, the balconies, the amenities, so for me it would be worth it to upgrade.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort...I would pick based on decor/theming or on location (depending on which parks/dining places you plan to spend your time at).

Yacht club is one of my favorites. Close to Epcot and excellent dining choices at the Boardwalk

Personally, I would choose the Yacht Club for location. Being able to walk to 2 parks and have the nighttime entertainment there is ideal for us. GF doesn't really appeal to me so much though.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. For many of the reasons stated above about both resorts, I decided to go with the YC but ended up at the BC :). The agency exclusive deal at the YC was completely sold out but she got lucky and was able to book me at the BC (which is our favorite resort anyways)!

That's great! I'm glad to hear you made your decision. Beach Club is great too.

Have fun.:)
