At which point should we inquire about a room upgrade at the port?

As first time cruisers, we have no idea what to expect at check-in, but are interested in possibly upgrading our room (if anything is available, of course). Do we ask when we first check-in? When we actually board the ship? Some other time? Is there a specific desk for upgrades?

We'll be doing the Alaska cruise in July.

Thanks

After you checkin at the port, ask where the supervisors desk is. That's where the upgrades are handled, if there is availability.

You have to check in first, then as soon as you are done there will be a supervisors desk (not sure where for Alaska cruise) and that is where you check for upgrade availability. If they have rooms and you choose to upgrade they will issue you new cards there.
