What is the typical downpayment

for a dummy cruise? I know it can vary-Just trying to get an idea of what to expect so I can buy some gift cards to put towards it. I can't remember what percentage of the cruise cost it is, but we'd obviously request the cheapest cruise possible until we sort out what we want to do in 2015.... two adults and one child.

From my understanding, it's a 20% deposit. Or 10% if you happen to be booking onboard.

I just looked mine up and it was $93.00. If I remember right it was a Dummy Cruise for the 3 day Dream in December for one person. When I figured out what I wanted I moved it to a 7 day cruise for 3 people.

When you moved it, did you have to put down more of a deposit?

when you move it you would have to put down the difference from the deposit of the dummy cruise to the one you actual want with the adjustment in number of people too, but it is still 10% instead of the typical 20%

i just booked a dummy cruise last week while on board. I told the person staight out that I wanted to book "a dummy cruise". She book me an inside stateroom for sometime in Dec 2014.

For our family (2 adults and 3 kids) she said it would be 144.00. I asked her if i could just book it for 2 adults. The deposit was 93.00.

In any case, adjustments to the cruise which result in a higher fare, require the payment of the difference. The offer still applies. If you book OBB, then the additional required deposit would still be based in 10% of the total fare.

Also, note that the 10% offer is only on the base fare - the government fees are non discountable.

What I'm not 100% sure however is if the deposit required is based on the base fare alone, or with fees applied...

I moved it once and did not have to pay more because it was still the Dummy cruise, my TA just wanted to make sure we did not get close to the booking time. Once I picked the cruise and increased the people, I had to pay the difference. It was still just 10% of the price of the cruise.

Note: Make sure you or your TA keeps track of the Dummy booking. If you don't move it you might end up losing your deposit or taking the dummy cruise.

I just looked up my most recent booking (not a dummy cruise) and my deposit was based on the cruise fare portion only.

I booked a dummy 3 day on the Magic for 4 of us and my deposit was $145. I moved my dummy to an actual cruise the other day, a back to back, and had to pay the difference for one at the 10% downpayment plus a regular down payment on the second cruise at 20%.
