Just Keep Swimming-March 31-April 7, 2013-Dining Review (updated 5/16)

Just dropping in to say I am loving your reviews :goodvibes
You have a few of our faves and some that we haven't been to yet so it's all great info :)
I really want to try LTT but everyone seems to be steering me towards the lunch
Great idea to split meals with DH, really stretches out those credits :thumbsup2

:welcome: Linda !!! I love reading your reviews as well.

I would recommend LTT lunch over dinner as well. It is just sooo much better !!

Yes, we like to stretch out the credits and you waste less food.

Oh, and I need to discuss OUAT with you. What do you think of them making Belle bad ?? I'm not sure I like it much and who is this new chick supposed to be ?? Neil's fiance ?? I love that show though. .

Aargh, you should have had a spoiler alert - we are a good few episodes behind here in the UK

Sorry !! I had no clue you even watched it over there. Kind of like Downton Abbey over here, I guess ??

I've never watched Downton Abbey - does that make me a bad Brit! ;)

The new series of OUAT (Season 2) has only started here a couple of weeks ago. You must be miles ahead of us (I have deliverately avoided Pixie Princess post as I can see that she has posted a lot of stuff about it, presumably). Hopefully we will be on the next page soon and I won't have to worry about skimming past it :rotfl:

She and I will discuss that on Facebook from now on. Sorry to spoil. I hate that when that happens to me.

Not watched Downton Abbey ??? What ?? Haha. We love it over here !!!

For dinner we went over to eat at the Contempo Café.

We took our mugs over for sodas and just got water for our drinks that come with the meals to take to the parks the next few days.

DS got a burger

And a sugar cookie that he ate before I could get a picture. But here is a photo from his previous meal here.

DD got the flatbread pizza again and another cupcake for dessert.

Her cupcake was the same as the one she got earlier in the week. Here’s a photo

Again, they really liked their choices and the flatbread was really fresh and cheesy.

DH and I shared the hot turkey sandwich

Here’s a description.

Hot Turkey Sandwich - topped with Brie, apple butter and arugala on Challah bread $9.09

This was a really HUGE sandwich and I am glad we shared it. It had real apples in it (and not apple butter as the description above states) which I thought was interesting. I thought it was really good and DH did as well. The bread was awesome. The turkey was good quality turkey and the brie was hot and melty. We would get this again. I would love to have one right now even. The house made chips were good and crunchy and salty.

Just how I like them.

We shared a red velvet cupcake for dessert.

Here’s what it looked like inside.

It was good, but very sweet. It was huge as well and I am glad I had someone to split it with.

It is just about 6.30am here and yet I am now craving that flatbread pizza and a turkey, brie and apple sandwich.

I love those flatbread pizzas (much more than standard WDW pizza). The Wilderness Lodge does a great pulled pork flatbread :thumbsup2

We have only eaten at Contempo Cafe once while waiting for our BLT room to be ready. I had the chicken sandwich and the chicken was burnt and dry. Everything I have seen from there since looks delicious though so if we're ever staying there again, I would definitely go back and give it another try.

That turkey sandwich was so good !! That bread made it, though.

We liked the flatbreads at Roaring Forks, too.

We enjoyed everything we got from Contempo Cafe. Everything was fresh and hot. Very yummy.

April 5, 2013

For breakfast in this day we ate at O’hana.

DD was so pleased with the leis.

We didn’t have to wait too long after we checked in. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. This was funny. There was a TON of glitter in the chairs at our table. Someone must have gotten a Princess makeover and then came to breakfast before us. DS kept asking if the glitter was sticking to his bottom. It was funny. Me ?? A little glitter never bothered me much.

Welcome Bread

Silly DS

Fruit

POG Juice (Pineapple, Orange, Guava) – very yummy.

All of the kids got maracas and there was a parade with the characters.

Soon we were brought our platter of food.

Eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes and biscuits.

DSC07140_zps365b5869.jpg

A breakdown of these. Eggs, were good, bacon was meh, sausage was really good and the potatoes were really good, but maybe a little too salty for me. Oh, and the biscuits. I’m from the south. Home the of the best biscuits ever. These were just OK. Not the best, but certainly good and enjoyable.

And the ever popular …Mickey waffles

DSC07141_zps48335ac3.jpg

DD loves her some Mickey Waffles

They were really fresh and warm and very yummy.

It took a bit for the characters to make their way around to us.

Lilo

DD was so happy to meet her.

Then Stitch

Here he is trying to get DS in the photo.

Success !!

DS loves Stitch !!

Next was Mickey.

And then, finally Pluto

We very much enjoyed our meal here and DD enjoyed the characters. We will definitely go back !!

I am now drooling. Everything looked so good.

Great breakfast at 'Ohana. Sounds as though the food is fairly average but we all know that character breakfasts are all about the characters (unless it's a Crystal Palace breakfast, then it's all about the puffed french toast!)

DS has always wanted to have breakfast at 'Ohana and now I've seen that Pluto is there, I know he will absolutely love it - Pluto is his favourite. I think I'm going to have to squeeze it in on our next trip. Just for DS, of course ;)

It WAS good !! I would rather have that food than the stale bagel I am eating right now - ugh !!

It is standard breakfast fare, but we really enjoyed it. We would definitely go back !! It was fun. DD enjoyed it especially.

Great review and pics from 'Ohana
We really enjoyed our breakfast there, it just seems less chaotic that some of the other character meals
You kids look like they are loving it :goodvibes

It was a great breakfast. We really enjoyed it. Definitely going back.

I see from your signature that you are sailing to Alaska in a month. Is it on a Disney Ship?? I want to do that soooo bad, but DH got sticker shock when he saw the price. I hope you do a TR, so I can read about it !!!

Lunch Snacking our way around the world showcase.

After exploring the Butterfly House, we stopped at the food booth in the UK.

We got the Baked Goats Brie with Kumquat Chutney.

This was good. DH enjoyed it more than I did. The chutney was a little tart and I would have preferred something a tad sweeter, but overall a good snack and something different to try.

Im still kicking myself for not getting the Trio of Trifles.

DD wanted some more ice cream and they have this booth in France the sells the best ice cream. She got a vanilla cone.

This ice cream is so smooth and creamy and tastes so good. The consistency of this ice cream is perfection. If I were to get one, I would get chocolate, but I was saving myself for this beauty.

This is called the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush (Grey Goose Vodka Orange, St. Germain liquor, White and Red Cranberry Juice)

The best drink EVER !!

Next up, DH and I had food at the American pavilion. It was the same stuff we had the last time, heres a run down on it anyway

We got the Pulled Pork Slider, The Brisket and the Chocolate Mousse brownie thingy. Everything was as good as it was last time except the cornbread which had been sitting awhile and it was cold and kinda icky.

Everything else was amazing though. Like I said before, all of these were a snack credit so we were glad we gave this a second go.

We had the beer flight again as well with DH taking the dark ones and me drinking the lighter ones.

I think the Liberty Ale was the one I liked the best.

I think the addition of the food booths at Flower and Garden was genius !! I can't wait to see what they have next year !!!

After a while, DH and I had to get a Fiesta margarita.

I asked them to leave out the mango part of it though. I just am not a fan of mango. But give me some lime and strawberry slushie and add some tequila and it is ON !!
