Hi everyone! We need help for our trip to WDW. It is our first family trip and first time at WDW. We will be going in August and it is 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids, 9yo and 1yo. We want to make this trip enjoyable and fun for our 2 girls but we can't decide on which resort. We currently have Port Orleans - Riverside and Port Orleans - French Quarters as options.

Though I've never stayed there - I *think* Port Orleans has some sort of Princess themed rooms.

Other than that, you can't really go wrong no matter what you choose. You and your girls will have a great time!

I forgot to add:

I've stayed at a budget Disney resort with my kids and I also did one total splurge Deluxe trip with my kids. The difference it made for my kids was minimal for the huge difference in $$.

We just returned from our trip and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and loved it! There are Royal Guest rooms located in the Magnolia Bend area. There is a Port Orleans Riverside Q & A Thread that was extremely helpful with our planning!

I have only been twice. Our first time was POR, and we loved it. My second time was just DD (18 yo) and me. We stayed at pop. Where I love that one too, I think for four people it would be crowded. If a basic room is ok I would stay with POR. Rooms were nice, grounds nice for a nice walk or run. Main pool fun for kids and quiet pools were nice to just relax. I really don't think there is a bad resort to stay at. I do think my next trip will be at the CBR. I have been reading tr with pics and that one looks nice too.

We stayed at POR when DD was 5 months and several times as she's gotten older at POFQ. Either one is a good choice. DD really wants to stay at a royal room so if your nine year old is princess fancy then maybe that's the way to go. My DD personally prefers POFQ because she likes the pool (it has King Neptune and a sea serpent slide).

I really like POFQ because the main walkways are structured like a street so people have a tendency to walk out of their rooms and go to the street to get from destination A to destination B. You don't have the foot traffic down the external hallways that you have at other resorts. For that reason I think it's quieter.

Regardless of what you choose you'll have the time of your life. Feel comfortable that you can't make a bad choice. :goodvibes

It depends on what your budget expectations are, and the level of comfort you're used to when staying at a resort. Of the Mods, I love the Port Orleans resorts...POFQ is my fav, but POR is also very nice, and they have Royal Princess rooms that your 9yo would probably love! All of the Deluxes are great, you really can't go wrong with any of those. Have never stayed at a Value, so I can't offer any opinions on those :) Mods and Values all have outside (motel) room access, while Deluxes have interior (hotel) corridors.

I would look around the different resort FAQ threads to see which resorts appeal to you the most! Have fun planning!! :woohoo:

Do you have something booked already? Or are you still deciding? I've stayed at POR several times....I love it there. PO-FQ is a lovely resort as well and a bit smaller than POR.
You may want to check out the value resorts as well...they are really a lot of fun for youngsters. What are you looking for in a resort? That will make a huge difference.

POR is a great resort (although I haven't stayed there since the Dixie Landings days) but I personally think POFQ might be a bit more fun for your kids. Everything is bright and colorful. The pool is themed around Mardi Gras floats, so it's pretty cartoony. Plus, it's a much much smaller resort than POR, so if you've got a toddler in tow, that might be a blessing.

We had booked reservations with WL but switch to POR but then the whole "I don't know if that's the right choice" kicked in lol I looked at POFQ and seen it was much smaller than the POR which seems perfect for us since we have a 1yo DD. But I love the whole Royal Guest rooms idea for my girls. :)princess:

That was exactly what I was thinking but I love the Royal Guest rooms at POR for my girls. :) Too much to think about! Thanks for your help. :goodvibes

Wouldn't stay anywhere else but POR! Been here a number of times and everytime it is like going home....
