MyMagic+ 'Mobile Lobby Experience' uses iPads to check-in guests curbside.

Another element of the NextGen MyMagic+ initiative is now live and in use across all of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Called 'Mobile Lobby Experience,' the system equips Cast Members with iPads and allows guests to be checked-in from locations other than the front desk. It is being used to quickly check-in guests from curbside or in the lobby area of the hotel. 'Mobile Lobby Experience' has the big advantage of being able to check-in guests very quickly on arrival at the hotel, without the need to join a queue or even find the lobby check-in desk.

'Mobile Lobby Experience' joins 'Touch to Enter,' 'Touch to Pay,' FASTPASS+, and MagicBand in the suite of new systems coming online this year with MyMagic+.

On my last 3 visits I have gotten to experience this method of check-in and I love it! It made checking in so much easier and faster.

I'm picturing something along the lines of the way Apple employees check you out in the store. They get your info (swipe a card, type it in, scan it from a print out), ask a few questions, step away for a few minutes, then return with all your things (packet, key cards, buttons, etc).

I'd be really happy with not having to stand in a line, as I'm always the stuckee in my family that gets to do this while the kids watch t.v. in the lobby and everyone else gets a drink!

That's it exactly. When we arrived on my last trip we were met as we got off the ME, I gave the CM my name, he escorted us in and had us wait a moment while he went and got our stuff. Very quick.

And it will be even quicker and easier when Magic Bands are a reality, as those will be sent to your home ahead of time, and you will be ready to go with them on your arms when you get there....

~Wow. I had just discussed this with another poster who was sure this would happen -- he was so right. So essentially, guests would arrive with their room key, which can then be activated at either the Magical Express check in or curbside forgoing the traditional check in process altogether. Neat!
