I have read in 50's on 4th floor you can see fireworks. Never been to Disney so dumb question....would that be lake view? Is there more than 1 50's building? If so can you see them from all buildings?

Building 3 faces the lake. :)

There are 3 bldgs in the 50's section. You would want bldg 3 probably the most and then bldg 2...but def not bldg 1.

It depends on what part of bldg 1. I had a very good view of Illuminations in front of rooms 1437 and 1438 one time. During the day you can see Spaceship Earth from there.

just wanted to come on here and say that POP is by far our favorite place on property :) From now on no more trying out other places!!! unless we use points to rent from a co worker and stay at BW, we will always book with POP from the start!!!! we just returned from a 9 day trip and checked into POR and by the 3rd night I wanted OUT! We moved to POP and were so glad that we did instead of staying where we didn't feel the love for::yes::

I've been reading up on preferred room areas. Preferred rooms are in 50s-60s-70s building. This is the closest to transportation. Preferred pool view will be one of those, but facing pool.

Preferred pool rooms are in the 60's buildings only.

we just got back sat and we had a preferred room in the 70's section. The bld with the Mickey Phone. there are preferred rooms in 50's, 60's and 70's....certain rooms are and some are not ;)

It was beautifully landscaped for sure! we stayed there in 97 on our honeymoon and loved it. Wanted to go back this year, (our 16th anniv) room was spacious and clean. The thing that we noticed on the first night was the air conditioning system. We totally forgot all about those window units! We were used to the central air type in POP or even at AKL where we have stayed the last couple years. DS 12 has Autism and needs his sleep, first night he was so exhausted he passed out, but then the 2nd and 3rd the unit would wake him up when it kicked on....most people would think that is silly, but he is sensitive and it was a pain! The walk to and from the bus was ok....you pass building after building that are pretty but just look all the same. I guess we like the variety at POP of things to see to and from the room. The path to and from the food court at night was very dimly lit, again I prefer to be in a brighter environment. What even my husband noticed was the tiny selection in the grab n go area compared to the glass cases at POP. Waaaay more food items to pick from, the fact that the bus went around the resort to stop at all bus stops before heading out the the park added more time. And the way back also stopped at POFQ before POR. At pop we liked getting on the bus and heading straight to a park! It was lots of little things that were just making us wish we were at POP so we moved and were soooo glad we did! Plus I got a credit on my card for the difference!

I would say preferred pool view IMO is by far the noisiest but also the priciest. It gets a lot of foot traffic because of it being by the main pool. Can't say much for the solo company because I don't hang at Petals so I don't know... Good Luck!!

Hey Stitch, I am going down in October with a friend, and may be at Petals some nights after getting out of the parks.

Thanks! Much appreciated.

I have a transportation question...
The first night we are there, we will be eating at the Ohanas at the Polynesian Resort. I understand that I would have to take the bus to Magic Kingdom and then the monorail to the Polynesian. How much time should I allow for travel? :confused3

Thanks for the help!

They say allow 90 minutes. Honestly, when we did this same exact thing I found 60 min to be pretty adequate. I wouldn't do less than 60 min. But when you get off of the bus at MK just head straight up the resort monorail ramp and it'll be the third stop. When you get off at the Poly, you just go right inside the doors and O'Hana will be in the far left corner but the check-in stand is over on the far right side corner now (or was in late March). HTH!!

Thank you so much! My whole family is going to WDW, but its my 1st trip and they are staying at another resort while my partner and I are staying at POP. I'm beyond excited for this trip but it would be a downer if I missed dinner on the first night due to us not knowing the ins and outs of the transportation system!

Just make sure you pick the RESORT monorail line!! And not the express line. There will be two to pick from so be sure to pay attention to that since you need to go to a resort. The express line only goes to the ticket & transportation ctr. So if you get on the wrong one, you will waste time having to change lines later. :)

You'll be fine!! And you're going to LOVE POP!!

But, if you do get on the Express monorail by mistake, just take it to the TTC and get off. From the TTC you can walk to Poly. Poly is a lovely resort to explore, so give yourself plenty of time and if you get there early, just wander around inside and outside.

Yayyyy!!! Can't wait. We decided to go down to visit tonight, made the reservations & even checked in online!! We love Pop and I just can't go anywhere else - theming, store, buses etc. It is just a great resort to do. We are even going back for 2 weeks in September!! :thumbsup2:cool1:

I apologize if this has been discussed earlier but I didn't have the time to get all the way through this thread. When I requested a King bed, I specified that we did not want the handicapped accessible type (can't stand the walk-in shower). When I looked at the reservation online, it lists King bed request, followed by "Please note: King Bed in Nonlockout Type". I assume this means non-accessible, but I wanted to double check with the experts here! I've never heard of the term "nonlockout".

Hello from POP! I have been staying here since Saturday with my boyfriend and we are pretty pleased with everything so far. Just a couple days left! We requested a king size bed and in the 50s building/or close to classic hall without a preferred room and we got both requests made. We even have a great view on the third floor, which is poolside, close to Lady. We have been eating at AoA because we like the food selection better and there are slightly more healthy options there. It's so close by and amazing for taking photos too. Although i must say, i am addicted to the Tie dye Cheesecake! I noticed how the POP busses are the furthest down at the bus stops at the parks but its not a huge deal for getting its own bus route in return. We have had rain everyday since we got here and today we finally got to try out the hippy dippy pool and 50's pool too! I heard bad things about the wifi being slow or nonexistent but it's pretty perfect for us!
